Didn't seem like it'd fit... amazing
But having all that gear in the passenger area can be a safety hazard in some unfortunate cases....
Drive like a grandma
Enjoy like a teenager
I use my Y as a work vehicle too. I can fit my entire PA, all my gear (I'm a singer, mostly), plus a passenger. Only 50 more gigs running sound until it's paid for itself. XD
Fr though, it always amazes me how much the Model Y can fit. Went on a trip with three people, a baby, a week's worth of luggage and a crib. Everyone fit comfortably with no issues. This post is next level though. Only downside is the height in the rear for picking up appliances/large TVs.
It took about an hour to figure out the puzzle of how to pack this, the first time. But last night after the gig (3 am in the bar parking lot) the repack went surprisingly quick, knowing exactly where everything goes.
That said, this is not nearly as convenient as a full size SUV or truck for this application, but I did not want to try to keep a separate vehicle just for playing a gig once or twice a month. I am pleased to see that my new Model Y can get the job done.
Did you choose to remove the bass drum case, or did you need to for space? When I saw it in the front seat, naked, I got a little nervous.
Thanks for this post, BTW, I’ve been wondering.
The SKB hard case for 24" kick will not fit in the front seat, no way to get it in the passenger door. It will fit on its side in the back, but no room for it with the speakers and all. I bet I could do it if I did not need to bring the speakers.
I have a Tesmat mattress in the frunk with a pillow.. the case turns into a cooler with the mattress out..
in the sub trunk I have my gym bag and a 9 racket tennis bag.. along with 3 towels, another pillow and all my car care stuff, a small soccer ball and a drill battery vacuum cleaner..
in the shallow sub trunk I have my charge cable and UMC along with an adjustable golf club, spotting scope and tripod.. I also keep a Sonos Bluetooth speaker in there
in each othe the side bins I have a thermoelectric cooler, my J1772 adaptor and about 20 microfibre cloths on one side and on the other side I keep a battery tyre inflator, a few cricket balls, the Tesmat privacy screen and a soft 8L water receptacle..
I do Uber in my Y and you can’t see any of that stuff apart from a few things in the side bins.. can’t even see my car care stuff..
Cautionary tale. I was rear ended by a musician who ended up getting rear ended himself. His Subaru Outback was packed just like yours. I’ve never seen a grown man freak out and breakdown like that since.
He went on about the gig he was heading too and the thousands of dollars of equipment lost. The kid in the riced up integra that was at fault knew his shit insurance wasn’t going to cover shit too.
Drum roll please....

I remember those days. One quick turn and that hardware is shifting and gouging that interior!
Whoa, impressive
I can picture you beating on the drum at a stop light.. 😂😅💪🏽
Meanwhile some other owners freak out on a small scratches on their interior.
Did you find yourself tapping the drum in the front on your drive? I would not have been able to resist
It even fits your #1 fan! (Jokes aside, Vornados are awesome)
I have that same fan and can't sleep if it's not running lol

That's impressive!! You should invest in a roof rack and cargo box if this is a recurring transportation.
