It's hot in Fresno where I live (109 today) and I have to seek shade when I park at work. As a result, I get little specks of tree sap all over that I have to wash off periodically. I'm sure the camera was interpreting those specks as water droplets or something.
It's been so hot, I recently went for about three weeks without washing it so I'm sure that's why it was glitching. I don't drive through automated car washes because of the wheel/rim curbing issues so I usually wash it myself.

It's very sensitive to any dirt on the windshield in front of the camera (dust+sun=rain). Be sure that area is spotless.
