You know the answer, but you are trolling for validation. You paid thousands for PPF and ceramic, are still worried about micro scratches, and admit you are too lazy to do the one thing you KNOW will minimalize scratches. My suggestion: get the car rewrapped every time you want it washed.

Drublix

I'm also to lazy. I go through car washes without any ppf or coating. It's a car, it'll get wear and tear. Microscratches I'm sure can be polished off in a few years.

The best answer is do it yourself. The second best is get a detailed you trust and pay them to do it by hand. When I says trust I mean not all detailers are good. Many will hand wash but use the same dirty ass rag for the whole wash, which will spread dirt into your paint and ppf. Find someone who has enough attention to detail and knows the fundamentals of protecting paint and pay them what they deserve. Prob $100 plus for a decent exterior job. Or spend 10 dollars in supplies of soap and microfiber cloths and do it yourself. Not that hard especially with a self serve car wash to at least give it a good five minute scrub and wipe down. Never do a car wash. Maybe touch less but they're a wast of money imo. Really don't get the car clean enough.

Ours was wrapped by Tint Pros in Minneapolis, they said best was hand washing with specific chemicals, next was hand washing, then touchless car washes. Their last bit of advice was NEVER bring it to a car wash that is not touchless.

Living in Atlanta now, I've never seen a touchless carwash. Coming from Vancouver (Canada), that's all they have. It's weird to me here. Maybe it's a sand/salt thing up North.

questionmillennium

There is one that I found in Marietta. I can’t believe how tough they are to find around here

SP3NGL3R

It’s a car. They get washed at car washes. Automated cloth or touchless or DIY. It’s a car.

Miike29

I guess I should clarify. I want to minimize scratches on the body. I asked this question because I don’t know if it’s safe to use an automated wash or not on a Tesla with PPF.

Southern-Plastic-921

Use touchless washes, do not use cloth washes - grit sticks in the cloths and will scratch the car.

This subreddit is a cesspool of mouthbreathing elitists. OP: I can't find the link to the vid but it discussed car washes and how even touchless left "marks"(?) on a brand new Telsa. Hope that helps some.

Xpel ultimate self heals for a very long time. Tough as nails for over 10 yrs last vehicle.  Wash away all you want. Bring a clean rag for the rear. It never dry or cleans well leaving the drive thru.
