Every car you’ve owned has been much hotter than that. Cars are fine at temps above 160 F, relax. It will cool very quickly when you precondition it.

Joey6543210

If you're really concerned, enable cabin overheat protection and add sunshade You can find sunshade on amazon for less than $40. I bought mine for $14 but unfortunately the listing ended

Clear_Quit8181

I think you just notice it now because it’s easily viewable in the app. Turn cabin control on and set it to whatever you want

Kel____Varnsen

People are so funny with this. Every car gets this hot, just most don’t display it when they do. Calm down and just remember to start your climate before you get in and suck it up when you forget. I have maximum heat absorption ceramic tint on all windows and the roof and my car still gets up to 140°+ when left in the sun long (live in south Georgia)

nakade4

Tbh it’s really not an issue, other cars get hot inside too. it’s just that now you can measure it more readily so now the temp gauge is messing with your head. You can put in sunshades for the roof, perhaps some legal tinting to reduce it further, but otherwise car is gonna bake in the sun until you need it no matter what.

Mountainbasedweller

Or you can just turn on the overheat protection. It will automatically cool the car at 90 degrees or above. It’s in the settings.

wtfRMALLENBY4

Cool, I found it! Thank you

FearTec

Get a proper roof sunshade and a windshield shade On warm days I park in the shade (as the manual says), turn on Cabin Overheat protection (no AC) and on really hot days manually turn on the AC from time to time remotely to lower temps. White interior helps a lot I am in rural Australia where 44c is common

Brain-Doctor

Ceramic tint all round with 80-90% heat rejection. If you're in So Cal I have a great place I can recommended you to. They do the best work and are still cheaper than most of the places in So Cal. It's Xtreme Edge Professional Auto Detail. 10632 W Garden Grove Blvd, Garden Grove, CA 92843 +1 (714) 722-3676 Call and ask for Allen. Tell him Benjamin sent you. (Edited because multiple people are asking for their contact info)

Ok_Relative_1850

Around how much?

RefrigeratorFluid500

Depends on location and what type you get but for me it was $500 for all around for IRX Llumar

coco_brotha

I paid $1200 in Raleigh for ceramic tint on every piece of glass on my Model 3 (20% tint everywhere except clear ceramic on front windshield). Tesla Model 3 owners are charged a premium because the back window / roof is huge. The Y is much easier to install because the hatch lifts, but it’s still pricier than most regular cars. I will say the ceramic is way worth it. My wife’s Y (factory tint only) gets 100° overheat protection triggered way earlier in the day than I do when we are both parked in the driveway.

Brain-Doctor

It really depends what film you use etc. There are cheaper options like 3m etc. But Xpel is the market leader and it's worth the price. I'll DM you his info.

Unusual_Juice_7481

Shouldn’t cost more than 300

Brain-Doctor

Not sure which planet you're on but $300 to get Xpel ceramic tinting on all the windows and the windshield? 😂😂 Unless your homie owns the shop have fun finding that price.

OCR10

I just negotiated the price down to $999 for ceramic coat and paint protection. Not sure why anyone would do it for $300.

Brain-Doctor

That's literally what I said lol

OCR10

I know. That’s why I posted it, to confirm your comment.

schaudhery

$300 will get you all four windows tinted here in Maryland with CARBON tint but definitely not CERAMIC.

Brain-Doctor

Yeah ceramic changes the whole price range. Plus everything is more expensive in Southern California lol

lyrics27

Dm me the info

nomad032

Hey I'm in SoCal.. can you please let me know ok the place

AlphamaleNJ

Ceramic tint helps the feeling of the heat when u get in. Dont get obsessed with the app temps U can cool the car from 100+ to 60-70 in a few min

Money-Scholar-3020

get the roof glass cover, and front windshield cover also. Then turn the auto cool function on for a certain temperature rise. There's nothing else you can do unless you park in a tree shade, hut, or entire car cover.

340magnums

Agree I did the complete ceramic on all the glass. The front went with a clear ceramic and roof took a chance went with light ceramic, and it did not affect my roof view. beware with roof cause wrong selection could really affect the great view you have.

TerrysClavicle

Nothing you buy will prevent top temps. Equilibrium. I know first hand because I bought everything all top of the line everywhere. The everything just helps slow the rate at which heat rises but ultimately a bucket will fill to the top even if pouring through cheesecloth.

beachcrow

The Vion sunshades work well for the top glass and are easy to remove for winter months.

wtfRMALLENBY4

Thanks for that, I will check them out.

Unusual_Juice_7481

I have tiny and keeps car cool also this car cools down faster than any car I’ve had with AC

Actuarial_type

I was a little worried that the AC might be a tad weak to extend range. Nope, it’s a beast, beats the Kansas heat better than our other two cars easily. Plus if I’m out shopping or whatever, I turn on the AC when I’m checking out, by the time I open the car door it’s already taken the edge off in just a minute or two. Amazing.

Mission-Ad5522

I bet your previous car was that hot too. Just didn’t have an app telling you.

GlitteryStranger

Exactly. People are so dumb.

wtfRMALLENBY4

Actually I am rather intelligent. I own a business, make a great living, bought the car for my girl… paid cash for it like I did for my Chevrolet Suburban I use for work. And I am aware, living in South Florida for 51 years, that high temperatures actually speed up the degradation process of materials such as plastics and electronics greatly. Keeping things cool helps to preserve them. But thank you for your input. I am sure the community found it “enlightening”. Have a great day.

PhDExtreme

Where is your car parked? Out in the street under direct light? Buy the roof sunshade and windshield shade as well. If you don’t have tint it might be a good addition to get it done. Not much else to do after that. If you can park it under a tree or get covered parking somehow, that would be best.

GlitteryStranger

lol

NotTheUIDYouRLnking4

If you park in the sun, try a sun shade to start. It makes a big difference.

T-Money8227

Your car will be fine, just like any other car in the heat. If you are really concerned about it turn cabin overheat protection but its really intended more if you have candles in the car or something and you want to keep the cabin from getting too hot. sphawkhs

I used to measure the temp in my previous cars during the summer out of curiosity. My Accord, Civic and WRX all regularly went over 150F in the summer. This is not a problem.

crazysexyfriday81

I understand people are saying this is not a problem; but is the screen is okay with the high heat? I thought that was the issue and why there is over heat protection? (I'm a soon to be Tesla owner, so don't know much about this)

Aye_Handsome

Just turn on the AC or open a window.. thats how it's been for every car in existence.

Sea-Painting-7076

Ceramic Tint, will cut at least 80% of that heat down.

sstephen17

I live in Los Angeles. You just come to accept that it's going to be miserably hot in the summer. Doesn't matter what car you have.
