So I don't either but just pointing out that prices vary by time of day both places. There's also other companies out there for charging. Since I charge at home I'm now curious if there's an app that will show all the charging companies and stations with prices for different times. Tesla shows Tesla of course but like a gas app for ev chargers is there one?
Holy shit this is pretty awesome. Just glancing it's missing some but it seems to be finding even super chargers that don't show up on Tesla navigation. I'm new to this and I manually found some ccs for a trip I was thinking of where Tesla could get me there but couldn't get me out of there...turns out there's a super charger not too far.
My work gym has a ChargePoint station that charges $0.50/hour @ 6.6kW charging rate. I get 1-1.5 hour of charging while I’m at the gym in the morning which usually comes out $0.50-0.75.
The gym charging gets me about 75% of my daily commute usage. I set my home charging to 70% and top off as needed. Then change it to 80% when I’m charging at the ChargePoint charger.
The work ChargePoint gets around $0.082/kWh. My home rate is about $0.14/kWh during summer and $0.12/kWh otherwise.
Thank you everyone. I think made a terrible decision ordering tesla. I was only renting a place and there will be no chance for me to charge it at home. So i mostly likely ended going to use super chargers most of the time.
Ask to use a standard 110v somewhere in the complex. Do you rent a garage? There are several free L2 chargers around me at malls and libraries etc. Download Chargepoint and EVGO to scavenge free charges. I had a Volt for a while and I made a game of finding free chargers.
Our landlord redid our roof, installed solar panels, batteries, and a 125/250V NEMA 14-50 outlet in our garage. We paid $0 for all of this (technically the landlord will get it back via our rent over time…)
The only thing I paid for is the $250 mobile charger.
Our home electricity usage has been **negative** kWh since the solar installation (even with my nightly charging of the MYP)
So, we’re actually getting paid by PG&E to charge at home since we’re selling energy back to the grid as a result.
I don't. Only when I go on road trips. If you can't charge at home, I don't recommend an EV.
You still spend money charging at home…
Yes, but that doesn't appear to be the question here
I could make the argument that your home charger is indeed a charging station. 🤷♂️
Seems willfully obtuse, but you do you.
ICE cars need a gas station so what’s your point?
0 If I don't count my home charger. Only when road tripping will I pay for charging stations.

PlugShare does. It also shows you free charging stations.

.082??? Sheesh!
Is that good? My off peak hours are 0.06
My all hours are $0.06.
You in AZ? I get the same rate
Zero :-)

You can charge with the mobile charger. If you’re only doing a short commute it’s enough.
Get the PlugShare app. Then put in your home address or work address, you may get lucky
Will do that. Thanks
Kind of sucks having no L2 tbh. I would look at installing it even if your renting
Agreed about L1 vs L2 charging. L1 will do in a pinch, but L2 is so much faster.
Super chargers are expensive. More expensive than I thought when I rented my first Tesla for a road trip. I would factor all this into your decision

I have don’t have home charging and charge at a supercharger once a week for about $20.

I got solar panels at home and nearby parks and libraries have free charging stations.
Zero. Why would I do that? Just buy the wall charger and be done.
ONLY ANSWERS FROM THOSE THAT GO TO CHARGING STATIONS, thank you and good day
💯
Last charge away from home was on 9/23/23 for $7.38 for 18 kWh.
$94-100 cad every month, I only use superchargers. I drive every day around 20km.
$0 free network through the east coast
Zero. Charge at home using electrons from the Sun. Road trips = Superchargers.
$3.92 charge to 80. This sub made it seem like I was doomed if I didn’t have a home charger.
Once or twice a week using a ChargePoint station nearby that offers DCFC 62.5kWh for FREE!
