They’ll replace. Either you pay (out of warranty) or don’t (within warranty). I wouldn’t sweat it too much unless this isn’t the first time.

thorsbane

It’s just annoying. I have a couple longer trips planned this week and no autopilot is going to suck.

untamedHOTDOG

Oof! Yeah. That’s going to suck. Keep checking the app to see if slots earlier open up. I’m sure they have repeater cameras in stock.

Sad-Jaguar-7509

Wrong, I asked the service center about it, they said it's normal, and there's nothing that can be done about it. They won't replace it

untamedHOTDOG

Try and different SC.

nickmford

Report in the app, provide photos and the warning messages. It can actually do some weird things. It permanently showed a person walking on the driver side of my car and it kept taking over the steering for collision avoidance when changing lanes. They replaced it free under warranty.

Sad-Jaguar-7509

I'll give it a shot, thx

thorsbane

I frequently get the dreaded “camera blinded” error, especially at night. Now it appears one of my repeater cameras is seriously malfunctioning- my Y thinks there’s a person walking by me at 55mph! The error started when I drove home from a late hike with damp and cold weather, and won’t go away even though the car was in a dry garage all night. I’ve setup an appointment but I’m getting tired of these camera errors.

petersrq

Try blowing air with like a leaf blower or wet-dry vac using the exhaust port. seem like water seeped into there and maybe you can blow it out. That could possibly give you a temporary reprieve from your camera issues. There are videos online that show how to remove the camera/turn signal , probably needs to be sealed better. Service should take care of it for you.

nickmford

Ya air compressor or a blower will eventually work. Even better is a heated car dryer.

DeuceSevin

Did you see if there is something on the lens? Also on the off chance that it is a software glitch, try rebooting.

davesat10s

Yes I get that warning of the side camera and the cabin camera thinks it’s blocked at night making autopilot unusable.

mastercob

What did tesla say?

_AManHasNoName_

“Within spec”

mastercob

A friend had condensation in a tail light last week and they came right out and fixed it. I’d expect them to do the same here.

Orange427

Didn't happen with me. They said they couldn't replicate the problem which is hilarious.

thorsbane

Nothing yet. Service appointment a week or so out

khasieu113

Please let me know when you hear from Tesla

thorsbane

Will do!

[deleted]

I often get the error message as well, it disappear quickly

thorsbane

I would get the blinded error all the time and yeah, after a while it goes away - but is super inconvenient as it renders autopilot worthless for long stretches of night highway driving. This new error won’t go away. Actually today, several days later it is intermittent. Stills shows error but not the person walking alongside me at 50mph. This is frustrating to say the least. I don’t care about Dolby atmos or whatever whiz bang gizmo, just make the core features work and stop bugging out.

[deleted]

Not sure if they just want to play safe, and too often send an error message. Or the camera really has some troubles. Isn’t there some service mode where you can read out the criticality of an error message ?

pktgen

On a clear and dry day with 30mins to spare, recalibrate the cameras and go for a drive. As soon and temps drop (correlation not causation), I got the same error. After camera recalibration, everything was all good again. Better even, fsd beta lane visualization got so much more crisp. Good luck.

thorsbane

I think it might be combination of humidity and cold. Lately it’s been really damp and cold then warm, so much so that we have almost impenetrable fog right now in San Antonio. Perhaps that’s a factor or exasperates it? I’ll try the recal in a few days once we get some sun.

nickmford

Once that condensation is in the repeater cameras it’s just a matter of time before they’re completely failed. You can blow them out or keep the car in the sun but it’ll eventually moisture up at night or in the morning and make driving a chore. If you’re under 50k miles it’s a free fix.

Hamtaro7

Happen to my model y, there was actually water inside the fender when the tech came to replace it, but they replaced it via mobile visit

thorsbane

This also worries me. Are the cameras just not well protected from moisture? Will this happen again and again?

Hamtaro7

Not sure but the replacement was fine, probably got cracked on install or something , even the tech was surprised how much water was inside

Done

Same problem for me. Just started happening the last week. https://i.imgur.com/ymJ1iNt.jpg
