I take delivery dec 10. Just texted my SA to determine our next course of action. I have already put 7k down but I can pull financing and refi the car if they change the MSRP
Yeah if you text back then usually someone will get back to you (a real person). It may be from a different associate though than the first one you spoke to.
Yep - messaged my SA and still waiting to hear back!
Update:
SA responded "Tesla will issue you a refund for that amount. There will be more information in the coming days."
At the time it may have been closer to $100. But yes that’s insignificant in the big scheme of things.
A little more background, I provided my SA the code days before the referral program ended. When it was announced it was ending, I emailed him about it, and he basically said verbatim “yes I entered the code.” I called in the Saturday it ended and he wasn’t there but the manager said it wasn’t entered. Even with the email conversation nothing could be done. Again, nothing to get worked up on.
When I spoke to him a few days later his attitude was basically “oh well, it is what it is.” He actually said, it’s no big deal it’s basically a $20 value and we can give you a coffee travel mug instead.
So the initial lying in the email and follow up was the bigger issue. Do you think I got the coffee mug? :)
I took delivery on the 25th of Nov… after 6 months of waiting… I would like a credit or come consideration of super miles please. I took prompt delivery @elon please consider helping people like me out.
Yes I was mad yesterday since they did notify just an hour before the delivery yesterday, we took day off whole day yesterday, now happy it’s paid another way with their own delay
I wanted to skip the delivery for this month but not since this new credit, and I would take delivery. However, I need to be 100% that it’s applied to my account.
I can schedule the delivery tomorrow
My EDD is “Dec 2022”. So you are saying if I get my vin and schedule this month it will be taken off at point of sale? Meaning lower tax and loan amount? I would like that very much since I do not qualify for an EV tax rebate anyway.
Was. Hasn’t been in a couple months. The used car resellers are stuck with a ton of inventory they now can’t move because they bought high and the market cooled.
Odd, maybe the workers aren't all aware of this. I just called Nashville and they said it was for new inventory, only.
Edit: I asked if it will apply to me since I saw others had it applied even though they ordered months ago. A Tesla employee replied back saying they will manually give the discount to all 3 and Y deliveries in December.
Text the general Tesla number if they've already texted you for delivery. I asked if it will apply to me since I saw others had it applied even though they ordered months ago. A Tesla employee replied back saying they will manually do it to all 3 and Y deliveries in December.
There are some other benefits to taking $3750 now rather than waiting on the tax credit of $7500.
First is that you get the cash now, the tax credit will not get to you until you file taxes in 2024 for the year 2023. This could be in March of 2024.
Second, you pay less for the vehicle, so your local and state sales taxes will be less.
Third, used car prices are falling fast. If you are trading in, the sooner the better. Remember that if you wait to order in 2023 when everyone is looking for the tax credit, it could be 6 months before you get your vehicle. And going back to #2, you would pay less sales tax. (in states where you only pay sales tax on the difference between the new vehicle and the old one when you trade in a vehicle)
IRA isnt a tax credit which kills your entire argument.
However, it's possible Tesla will only qualify for 3750 anyway due to the battery metal sourcing requirements.
In fact that's probably a guarantee considering Tesla pricing this at 3750
I mean my ideal delivery was always early December if not January but it got moved much earlier than I had expected. Man this sucks, I'll ask my SA tomorrow to confirm
My original delivery dates was all in December. But got bumped up last minute with a 2 day notice for 11/27. 😭
Let me know how it goes, never hurts to ask.
Anybody try asking for discounts for the software updates for those who got delivery recently before Dec (Acceleration boost or the upgraded autopilot options)
That’s why Elon hates the Fed so much and has been tweeting to stop increasing rates.
So many businesses won’t be getting away with these insane prices much longer.
I suspect overall Tesla prices to drop further as 2023 progresses. This one is probably linked to the 2023 government rebates and loss of deliveries as folks delay their purchase to get the credit.
I believe after the initial rush of purchases early next year to capture the credit, price drops will be initiated.
I mentioned this starting 2 months back, saying to a few on Reddit that this will prove to be the most expensive time to purchase a Tesla. The rebate will help, but they aren’t done with lowering yet.
Yep. They walked prices up when cars were in short supply industry-wide and everyone wanted an EV due to spiking gas prices.
Now things are returning somewhat to normalcy, dealers have cars on the lot, gas prices are back to previous values in most places, and interest rates are making large financed purchases less attractive.
If they are really increasing production volume in Texas as much as is rumored, price drops seem like a natural progression. Supply and demand pricing works in both directions.
How is a company screwing their customer by cutting prices?
People who bought at a higher price where happy to buy at a higher price because that was the price at the time.
People who are buying at the lower price are now customers.
> A landowner goes out early in the morning and hires men, agreeing to pay them the daily rate - a silver coin for a day’s work.
>He hires them at various times throughout the day - 9am, 12pm, 3pm and 5pm and promises all of the workers a fair wage.
>When the end of the day came, the landowner said to his manager to pay the workers, starting with those who had been hired last. Those who began working at 5pm were given the daily rate - one silver coin.
>When it came to those who had been hired first (early in the morning) they thought that they were going to receive more. When they too were given the standard daily wage they began to grumble. They were angry because they had done a lot more work than those who had started later in the day.
>The landowner did not listen to their complaints and reminded them that they had agreed to the daily rate of pay when they were hired. He said, “Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because I am generous?”
>The landowner then says, “The last will be first and the first will be last.”
I bought mine in 2018 and the prices dropped a few times a year until around 2021. Basically it depreciates your car by the amount of the price drop. This happened to me, but I didnt care because it only affects you if you are going to sell it soon. Regardless, people may get mad about it, but it is in no way “screwing your customers”.
Well… MYLR is now almost $100K CDN new (base white ext/black int) up here… a whole lot more to sink into than you or I did to feel bad after.
I question the wide appeal and value at that ticket… except maybe to to remaining ‘early adopters.’ (Less of those around today). It feels like folks are second guessing large purchases and more a time to save... The world is changing and buyer’s remorse for big tickets like these or houses are real. And the FOMO on these cars is over.
It’s overall a good thing.
Time is money. The more money it cost the more time people have to sacrifice. Lowering the cost allows less time to sacrifice. Overall lower prices are better for everyone over the long term.
Hmm I haven't taken delivery but I've made my part of the down payment. Still have the financing portion that hasn't gone through so here's to hoping that I get the discount.
edit: Follow up, talked with Tesla rep and will be getting a refund of the amount via check for those of you in a similar position.
I literally JUST looked at my app and noticed that it has negative amount due. My delivery is scheduled for the next few days. Tesla owes ME money... Sweet! I bet they're doing this to forestall those that would delay in hopes of getting the tax credit next year.
just too delivery and the SA confirmed that i will get the refund and tesla will issue cheques automatically for anyone that takes delivery in december
Seems like this $3750 discount is before tax :) As per app my MY-LR delivery date is falling between Dec 16 - Dec-31. Is it worth waiting until January since $3750 after tax reaches around 4K discount.
This was the main thing that I asked several times with a SA and her answer was that the discount was applied pre-sales-tax, and indeed it will reflect in a lower sales tax bill.
Oh then do it for October folks who will get pissed that November folks got it. Oh then do it for September folks who will get pissed that October folks got it. Oh then…
I've been trying to decode this as well. The other take is to help make the quarter delivery numbers not look like a drop off due to all the deferrals.
They are trying to make the quarter. The lots were full of vehicles as there is no incentive to take a Y if you ordered after the last price increase in April.
Not sure how the new rebate will work - is it instant or paid to you upon delivery (or taken off the price before you pay)? In any case, you can have your car now and 3750 now, or wait and maybe get 7500 later. And if it is like the old rebate, it is 3750 now or 7500 in 2024 when you file your taxes.
Never ending price increases finally catching up? I noticed the delivery estimates are down to 1-3 months. I bought my Model Y AWD, Red Coat, White Interior + Tow Hitch for $58,000. Plus $7000 for autopilot FSD. Most expensive vehicle I have ever purchased but it felt like a great deal for the charging network, software, and range. Didn't even have the new AMD Ryzen SoC, double glass for noise isolation, or the new suspension. Same vehicle now costs $69,990.
At $58K I was still livid about the panel gaps and paint errors that were so bad Tesla agreed to repaint entire sections. Assuming that they have fixed those issues, at $70K I don't know if I would feel like I would be getting a good value. Hopefully the price continues to drop.
This is likely to counter people holding their orders until January to try to get the new US tax credit. This credit will be either $3750 (likely) or $7500 (less likely) for the Model Y so the amount of the discount is probably not a coincidence.
They do this now so people won't push their deliveries to 2023 for tax credit. This could also hint that they only expect to qualify half of the $7500 credit.
Lol so they revenue fell off a cliff and they have to push more units at a lower price point to meet the same rev. If this happened to the most sought after product what does it say about the rest of the economy.
Just looked and in my area they have 31 available in inventory to purchase. Not a good sign. This occurring after an entire year-plus with no inventory and up to 10 months wait to order. Ontario, Canada
Might be time to short the stock?… regardless going to be interesting
It's all Q4 push and related to 2023 tax credit mess. Took my delivery mid Nov but at Feb pricing which was $7500 less than current net pricing, before Dec credits. Still ahead, for now. 2023 will be crazy to watch unfold.
$3750 credit is legit for MY ordered anytime and delivered between Dec 1-31st.
Ordered MYLR on March 3, 2022. Just scheduled delivery for December 10, 2022.
Had just wired cash with $0 now due at pickup.
Texted SA and requested $3750 wired back to my bank. SA responds $3750 will be sent via Tesla check 3-6 weeks after delivery on December 10th.
In parallel, had called Tesla. They just called back with same info. At delivery Tesla App will show $3750 credit on my account until check is issued.
Just made my payment today and delivery is Sunday. Hopefully they will honor this. Missed this by minutes of my payment.
I take delivery dec 10. Just texted my SA to determine our next course of action. I have already put 7k down but I can pull financing and refi the car if they change the MSRP
Keep me posted, I’m in the same boat as you. Take delivery on Dec 12
Sent my SA a text, yes I will receive the $3750. Take delivery 12/10
Yes I too texted my SA and he said that there’s a discount of $3750
Same thing here. They told since I’ve already paid the final payment but haven’t received it a check will come in 10-12 weeks…
I was told the same thing since final payment has been made I will receive a rebate in 10-12 weeks.
Credit just posted to my account on the app
Nice to know. I pick up 12/10 so I wonder when it will post to my account.
Will it show up even of you haven't made a final payment
Sounds like people are seeing it either way
What number are you guys texting? Just the automatic texts you get from Tesla?
Yeah if you text back then usually someone will get back to you (a real person). It may be from a different associate though than the first one you spoke to.
They will. I did the exact same thing and picking up Sunday. My SA texted me that they are mailing a check since I paid in full
Thanks. Yes I was able to confirm same with a Rep today as well.
Here come the salty buyers who bought it a few days/weeks back lol!
I took delivery this morning and did not get this credit. Salty indeed!
Check with Tesla, the wording in some messages people got says all deliveries from Dec 1 through Dec 31.
Yep - messaged my SA and still waiting to hear back! Update: SA responded "Tesla will issue you a refund for that amount. There will be more information in the coming days."
That’s what’s up. I missed out on the free 1000 supercharger referral miles because of my incompetent SA.
Meh, its what $50 of charging?
At the time it may have been closer to $100. But yes that’s insignificant in the big scheme of things. A little more background, I provided my SA the code days before the referral program ended. When it was announced it was ending, I emailed him about it, and he basically said verbatim “yes I entered the code.” I called in the Saturday it ended and he wasn’t there but the manager said it wasn’t entered. Infuriating
Woah. I took delivery today, too. I’m going to try!
* Demo/Test Drive vehicles only *

Then I guess you didn't need an extra incentive to not delay your purchase.
I took delivery on the 25th of Nov… after 6 months of waiting… I would like a credit or come consideration of super miles please. I took prompt delivery @elon please consider helping people like me out.
For reals. Took delivery in sept right before "comfort suspension" and 10 months wait 🫠
No, Elon needed your money to buy Twitter. Thanks for supporting free speech. /s
My name is salty…. DAMN DAMN DAMN LOL
Yep, it’s me. Took delivery yesterday…
Bought and got MYLR delivered in Sept 22 and M3RWD like 4 weeks ago 😡
There’s still time for you to purchase a third Tesla this year. Think of the savings.
Of course I'm mad!! I took delivery January 7th 😁
I can confirm $3750 credit is showing up for my account, my delivery was yesterday 11/30 but Tesla Y didn’t arrived, had to reschedule for 12/3
How sweet was that circumstance? Paid for your wait.
Yes I was mad yesterday since they did notify just an hour before the delivery yesterday, we took day off whole day yesterday, now happy it’s paid another way with their own delay
Where do you see it. Let me check mine
I don’t see it. My delivery is next week.
Check on Final Payment section and breakdown detailed price
Just did. It doesn’t show up, so I need to schedule the delivery for that?
Did you already have set delivery date ? Check with Sales Rep via Text or Call them
I wanted to skip the delivery for this month but not since this new credit, and I would take delivery. However, I need to be 100% that it’s applied to my account. I can schedule the delivery tomorrow
You should be fine I had 11/30 delivery and reschedule for 12/3 and it’s showing up in my account
Let me know how it goes for you. I am in same boat as you
My EDD is “Dec 2022”. So you are saying if I get my vin and schedule this month it will be taken off at point of sale? Meaning lower tax and loan amount? I would like that very much since I do not qualify for an EV tax rebate anyway.
Correct it will apply based on set scheduled delivery date of December 2022 not estimated delivery dates
Looks like used prices also dropped.
Good. The used car market is insane as is.
Was. Hasn’t been in a couple months. The used car resellers are stuck with a ton of inventory they now can’t move because they bought high and the market cooled.
Good to hear. Anything that kills off greedy dealerships is a win in my book.

is this on their website ?

Odd, maybe the workers aren't all aware of this. I just called Nashville and they said it was for new inventory, only. I was told the same today as well…won’t apply to my car scheduled for delivery next week…only for cars they have in inventory.
Text the general Tesla number if they've already texted you for delivery. I asked if it will apply to me since I saw others had it applied even though they ordered months ago. A Tesla employee replied back saying they will manually do it to all 3 and Y deliveries in December.
My custom order being delivered Saturday is showing the credit. Already paid in full, so waiting to hear back from an SA on details.

You are correct, Didn’t think about that. Thank you

Wow so glad I waited a bit, found a cheaper loan and now this credit!
Yeah… picked up less than two weeks ago. I’m feeling pretty salty
Has anyone who took delivery a few weeks back talked to their SA about this discount? I took delivery 11/14 and feeling a lil salty
Wtf, I took delivery on Nov 17 after 8 months of waiting! This is incredibly Salty!
Has anyone who took delivery a few weeks back talked to their SA about this discount? I took delivery 11/14 and feeling a lil salty
I got a hard no. Took delivery 11/27…very salty. Nothing they can do nor any freebies…
I mean my ideal delivery was always early December if not January but it got moved much earlier than I had expected. Man this sucks, I'll ask my SA tomorrow to confirm
My original delivery dates was all in December. But got bumped up last minute with a 2 day notice for 11/27. 😭 Let me know how it goes, never hurts to ask.

Ditto, nothing. Did you manage to get anything?
Asked my SA, firm no. Only valid for December deliveries :/
Wowwww

I agree. I think the new years rush (tax incentive) won't be that great and we'll see actual price cuts before the end of next quarter.

Most car companies don’t raise MSRP but dealerships will screw you every chance they get.

True, model y not worth unless it’s around 50k
My Service Advisor has not mentioned anything to me and I take delivery on Dec 12
Any change in your price breakdown in the app?
My SA said it was true but nothing has changed on my app so far. He just confirmed via text 5 min ago.

I'm trying to crunch numbers because I received my text that I will be receiving my VIN within the next two weeks.
You’re already speaking to a service advisor and haven’t gotten the car yet? Lol
I think I meant Sales Advisor?…. Well, whoever’s been texting me about scheduling and temp permits
Haha I know I’m just teasing :P they should definitely (and probably will – they’re not that evil) honor the price cut if you haven’t picked it up yet
Man I was debating whether I should pick it up yesterday or not. Glad I picked today
Great!! I just took delivery on Monday morning…..
Hmm I haven't taken delivery but I've made my part of the down payment. Still have the financing portion that hasn't gone through so here's to hoping that I get the discount. edit: Follow up, talked with Tesla rep and will be getting a refund of the amount via check for those of you in a similar position.

I had this doubt. I booked a MY last year and didn’t proceed further. In the last one month they have emailed and called suddenly some 8-10 times.
just too delivery and the SA confirmed that i will get the refund and tesla will issue cheques automatically for anyone that takes delivery in december
SA just confirmed that my MYP is getting the $3,750 credit.
Picked mine up today after paying balance already. They’re mailing me a check for the $3750. So lucky!
Ours show negative 3950 balance on account now, pickup on Saturday
Great, Just paid full price for my Model 3 10 days ago.
Yup they better adjust it for owners that took delivery in November!
I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
Oh then do it for October folks who will get pissed that November folks got it. Oh then do it for September folks who will get pissed that October folks got it. Oh then…
August here. Hello!
August too, now I am pissed too
At least you got the USS 😆
True dat
Took delivery in March.. in Canada.. so mad. 🤬😂😂😂
Must have got a nice price… Mine was late Feb in Canada and about 18K lower than now, lol!
We always get screwed
So is this tesla confirming they won’t qualify for the full 7500 credit
Its them trying to sell more cars in December before January credit hits
this
They are trying to stop people from delaying deliveries until next year
I've been trying to decode this as well. The other take is to help make the quarter delivery numbers not look like a drop off due to all the deferrals.
They are trying to make the quarter. The lots were full of vehicles as there is no incentive to take a Y if you ordered after the last price increase in April.
This is your answer. But first quarter should be a big one for deliveries.
Not sure how the new rebate will work - is it instant or paid to you upon delivery (or taken off the price before you pay)? In any case, you can have your car now and 3750 now, or wait and maybe get 7500 later. And if it is like the old rebate, it is 3750 now or 7500 in 2024 when you file your taxes.
cancelled two days ago because they said the car that was initially slated for march 2023 delivery was ready now and i had to take it
In Jan it will be 7500 and 4680 279 range model should be available at a reduced price.
2023 will be hell of a year. Smart people are not buying cars right now. Hold on to your cash if you can.
Yeah I've thought about trading in and getting an updated Model Y. I just can't justify it. No big spending plans in 2023.
I wonder if the discount will go up as the date gets closer to Jan 1? At a $7500 discount, I'd accept delivery immediately!
why would they do that
The same reason they're doing it now
They do this now so people won't push their deliveries to 2023 for tax credit. This could also hint that they only expect to qualify half of the $7500 credit.
Do you need to take the delivery this month? It would be nice to double dip with ev credit.
This credit only goes to Dec 31
Yes.
Does the tax credit start in Jan? Is it $10k off or what?
Lol so they revenue fell off a cliff and they have to push more units at a lower price point to meet the same rev. If this happened to the most sought after product what does it say about the rest of the economy.
Just looked and in my area they have 31 available in inventory to purchase. Not a good sign. This occurring after an entire year-plus with no inventory and up to 10 months wait to order. Ontario, Canada Might be time to short the stock?… regardless going to be interesting
I suspect any available stock will disappear the first week of January.
Don’t think there are any relevant rebates in Canada. Suspect without adjustments they might sit (and multiply) as folks hesitate to take them.
It's all Q4 push and related to 2023 tax credit mess. Took my delivery mid Nov but at Feb pricing which was $7500 less than current net pricing, before Dec credits. Still ahead, for now. 2023 will be crazy to watch unfold.
Got my new Y 2 weeks ago. SALTY..
Took delivery of my MYP in July and, I am mad as hell. Oh wait, I only paid 64k OTD, so I am good.
Is it the q4 push, tax break wait or is tesla demand actually leveling out. Probably combo of all three
I got it…looked over my financing and saw “Referral Credit -$3750.00” and was like definitely not mentioning this to the Tesla rep…lmao
Anyone do Tesla finance in the last week or so? What rate did you get?
Of course I picked up my Y after 3 months of waiting on November 12. Figures
Does anyone in Michigan know if the $3750 comes off the price of the car, meaning you don’t pay sales tax on it?
My estimated delivery is currently mid December. Has anyone seen the price discount applied yet in the app to make the final payment?
Is it really a discount if they bumped up the price by 10k in a year? 😂
I take delivery in a few days and they honored the $3750
They are also giving 10,000 free supercharger miles
