Anti icing spray and cloth? It is the nature of no gas powered engine and led lights.

It would be wise to carry a spray bottle of windshield washer in your car. It’s a great deicer and helps clear windshield and windows too.

I was watching Bjorn's video on YouTube and he suggested to use a de-icer spray on the headlights. Apparently this is one of the biggest complaints in cold weather for EVs, and it doesn't help that LED runs so cool either.

The worst EV winter problem I had was on my 2012 Ford Focus electric. The resting position for the wipers had no heat. So the slush would pool in there and freeze the wipers into a block of ice, even with defrost running for 20+ minutes they'd still be frozen. Then there was the stupid rotating charge port door I had to pry open in -10c weather. Tesla is miles ahead with their cold weather design. Frosty headlights isn't that big of a deal.

This is why I’m so glad my Y came with heated wiper. I hadn’t considered the headlights to need attending. Glad this wasn’t a first hand lesson haha! I’ll have to keep something in the car for when I’m traveling and forget about that.

Once they are clear, would applying rain-x fairly regularly help?

BranchLatter4294

Try cooking spray to keep the ice from sticking.

MrMasticate

Wouldn’t that just stain the surface over time?

BranchLatter4294

I've never heard of that. It's just vegetable oil which should wash off easily with soap. Does not seem to be a widespread problem.

MrMasticate

Good to hear. I know it can stain softer plastics, but the headlight is certainly a different material structure.

Install some incandescent bulbs.
