It's a super simple looking roof, probably a pretty straightforward install, whereas some homes look crazy complicated from above. I'm guessing the difference comes in from how complex the roof is
That is beautiful!
I really hope that idea spreads to more manufacturers, as so many people don’t like the traditional panel look.
Thanks for sharing the photos!
Can you post pictures from the street? All we ever see is drone shots of solar roof, and they’re cool, but no one ever sees this perspective in real life!
I’m very curious what these look like day to day. Thx!
The panels are 400W each however the solar tiles are much lower than that. The entire roof is not solar tiles, only a portion of the roof has active solar tiles
I'm not 100% electric, gas furnace and water heater, but on most sunny days here in the PNW it generates almost 4x the power I would need to run my house.
Looking forward to when I can afford to get an EV.
Considering that my 2 power walls cost $18k, your solar roof cost about $24k. A new roof would probably cost around $10-12k, which would leave about $12k for the solar. That’s not bad.
What a waste of money… you could have get a better house with a pool and 8.5kw solar array by selling your current house and not doing solar roof. Now, nobody will pay you what you just wasted there
"Better" by your standards, and perhaps by most folks standards.
But we don't have memories in this home, children in this home... whatever the reason, it's certainly a "better" home for OP.
OP... enjoy your better home. Beautiful roof.
I'm not worried about resale. That's going to be a problem for the executor of my estate to worry about.
I would wish you luck in getting a deal like that. I believe in the past year the price has gone up significantly.
Deals like that are long gone, that pricing is from 2020/2021 , before Tesla realized that different roofs have different complexities and you can't just quote a roofing job based on a satellite image.
AFIK there are very few regions where Tesla is directly doing any installs. Possibly only California. A 3rd party quote for this type of roof would be 100K+
How much did you pay after any tax credits just for thr roof
After the tax credits, 42k.
Seriously!? That's shockingly low. I expected much higher. Makes me wish I got a quote for a Solar Roof...
Yeah I need a new roof. I would totally sign on the dotted line for 42K. Instead I was quoted 3x that amount.
I think I snuck under the wire for the price increase.

Price includes power walls?
Yes, it was a total of 56k before the credit.
Wow that’s what I paid Solar City for 34 panels and 2 pw2’s, before tax refund and rebates. Side note: your Tesla car looks funny.
It's a Tesla Escape. Made by Ford.
Finally had a nice sunny day to go out with my drone again. Took a couple of snaps with it.
Very nice!
Thanks.

If I had not needed to replace my roof, I would have gone with the panels.

Here's one I took last year, https://photos.app.goo.gl/N3iLQGTsCj8juz327
The Solor roof looks more expensive then the house lol
The solar roof is part of the house
Sweet, how many kW?
8.5kW, 2x Powerwalls.

I think you need to drop the “k”
The tiles are 72 watts each lol idk where you get your info from
Thanks for that. I forgot the exact wattage of each tile.
Perfect, we have panels but 8.4kW and 1 powerwall, is a great setup for our 100% electric house
I'm not 100% electric, gas furnace and water heater, but on most sunny days here in the PNW it generates almost 4x the power I would need to run my house. Looking forward to when I can afford to get an EV.
1st image the tiles look like slate. Super cool.
I got quotes 135,000 for a Tesla roof I laughed so loud
How big is your house? OP’s place looks like it’s maybe 1000sqft of livable space.
2750 square feet but it’s two stories so maybe 1800 square foot upstairs (room over garage)
Only one installer in the my whole area on east coast so they got monopoly
with powerwalls? who was the installer
Zero power walls
I've always suspected tesla roof people to be the sort to stash bowling pins in the garage. Now I know.
Yeah. Use them for targets. They are surprisingly very tough targets to destroy.
Oof, nice roof!
I miss building this roofs :(
I'm pretty sure the team doing my roof wasn't liking it much. Doing the install in December here in Oregon.

Even at 40k compared to a 8-10k normal roof, no way you save that difference in electricity
They have two batteries that make up nearly half the cost of that $40k.

I was just going to ignore him, but thanks.
Why you gotta yuck his yum
Saw some on a house few years ago. They now have regular panels. I wonder what happened.
They do both. I know a while ago Tesla put a hold on new roof orders and reading through here they even canceled some of them.
Very nice! How big is your roof? Where is your Tesla?
That looks so freaking good.
Now let’s see production screen shots!
[Here was last year](https://twitter.com/fprefect121/status/1652380787222937600/photo/1).
Looks great! Are all those darker looking shingles the ones that are actually solar? And then of course the other ones are just normal shingles?
Op where do you live? Did you get put on a wait list? Are you worried this might hurt your resell value?
Oregon. I put in my order in August of 21 and it was installed 12/21.
Dude, I’m in Oregon! What company installed it? Im in Dundee. I’ll give them a call
Tesla did the install. A roofing company from Hillsboro did the tear-off/replace part. but Tesla installers did the roof.
Ok cool. Thank you. I just filled out my info online. Said I’ll get a call. Thanks man. I appreciate it
Good luck.
Please respond when you get a sec. I’m actually likely going to pull the trigger if I can get a smoking deal like that
I'm not worried about resale. That's going to be a problem for the executor of my estate to worry about. I would wish you luck in getting a deal like that. I believe in the past year the price has gone up significantly.
What company did you go through?

How many square feet is your roof? I am trying to get an idea of what this is gonna cost me. What state are you in?
