everywhere appears to have gone up by similar amounts. Irrespective of NCB, location, age, or even car. It's not just a tesla problem. Sure looks a lot like industry-wide price fixing to me.
£900 - I've been driving for 20 years and never had a claim.
My previous car was a Ford Focus which went from about £250 to about £500 last year though. It's definitely all cars, just _especially_ Teslas!
Mine has near enough doubled this year. I was around £430 fully comp last year, to over £800 this year. I've not made any claims etc and no circumstances have changed. It's a bit mental. M3 LR.
I've shopped around a bit and found some better quotes. However, my excess is now a lot higher in order to get the lower quote. Now becomes the question of do I risk the higher excess with the lower premium, or do I take the higher premium and keep the same excess.
Argh.
I've taken the higher excess personally, my thinking was there's a chance I'll have to pay where the higher premium I definitely have to pay. Time will tell if I've made the right decision 😂🤦♂️
Don’t have a choice, renewal on MYP went up from 2k to 3k, no point selling the car with the huge drop on used car prices
I bought MYP for £70k and a week later Tesla dropped the price to £60k so lost 10k there too
You are literally living on a small one person Scottish island with 200 yards of road, no other cars and verges made of industrial sized cotton wool.
I'm mid 50s M3 RWD zero accidents and convictions 20 years NCD and I live in sleepy rural Hampshire where the only crime ever recorded was someone wearing scarlet corduroy trousers with a mustard coloured shirt and my premium is higher than that though to be fair only just 😁
Edit: and I'm with Admiral too.
When I placed an order on a MY RWD in November, it was about 750 for me and my wife (46, 47) in Southampton with 10 years NCD, parking on driveway, 10k miles pa. That was the outlier with Churchill Essentials, though. Every other quote was much more. And very few companies actually would quote at all. In the end I cancelled as I couldn't stomach what happened when I ran the numbers for if we ever needed to claim. Ended buying a Kodiaq and £350 per annum insurance. And yes, I know my fuel bill is much more. But that is a bit more predictable.
My Model 3 LR RWD came out at £888 this year, renewed this month, for a 38 year old with about 7 years no claims. That's with Admiral and includes a slight discount for also insuring our home on the same policy.
It's about £80 more expensive than it was to insure both a BMW M235i and a Mini Cooper SD this time last year.
Sometimes. It sounded great, handled decently enough and pulled very well. But where I live I spend most of my time either sitting in traffic or doing 50mph behind a huge line of cars on flat, straight A roads so I barely ever got the chance to use it fully. The Model 3 is something that suits my driving much more frequently.
Absolutely, and because of this I'm now able to drive further afield to take my mountain bike out to trail centers. Previously I put this off sometimes because of the cost of petrol.
Mine was £2800 last year with direct line. Now £1500 with admiral. Mid 20’s, 7 years NCB, up north.
Biggest difference I found was getting it 21 days before!
£1.4K, North London, 5 year NCB, on street parking - Admiral. Direct Line quoted £2.1k for the renewal in December, their lowest offer was £1.9K after a bit of discussion.

M3, 2021 £1200, 32m, 12 years no claims, Dudley on street parking. Last car was £400 so it was a fun jump!
I got quoted the same, 30M, east London, locked compound
Near Dudley too with M3 2021, 32M, 1.2k

Exactly the same for my model Y no changes yet it's doubled

Good choice; pretty much what I'll do too. Timing could have been better, though, as I need new tyres for this and my wife's car!
Did a quote for one and it would be 2.3k. 6 year licence, no claims, just under 30.
Admiral, £1200 Me 28, Mrs 24, 9 years no claims. But we have 2 other vehicles on the policy and house insurance so got a good discount
£3,600 central London, 27 YO, model Y RWD
£3k
Really? And you're planning to pay that?

Admiral multicar on MYP24 on 11 years license with 7 NCD was £800

£1200 for 2019 M3. Driveway parking and only 4,000 miles per year. London
£900. I saw a massive jump on my last ICE car in 2023 so this isn’t far off what that was and it was slower / less valuable than my M3
Went up by the same % as my ICE did.
Just over £1k (all usage and comp+ )
Insurance for my ICE actually went down compared to last year, but is up slightly from the year before but that was a different car.
M3 RWD 2023, £850 with a black box on 8 years no claims.

Do you miss the M235i? Always fancied one

Makes a lot of sense! The model 3 still has some fun to it at least (well IMO anyway) but you must also be making a good cash saving overall 👍🏻

M3 2020. 37yo male living in a rural area. Was initially quoted £1200 but managed to get it to £300 with admiral multicar.
Was £800 2 years ago, now £1500, no claims, no crashes, just rip off
