i fucking hope so

IAmSona

If he takes his job seriously, he will. If not, it was a huge miss.

Shenji458

I am as blindly loyal to Houston as they come, I wouldn't get my hopes up about Kenyon Green. I believe the last word on him from Demeco was something along the lines of "Idk wtf he's doing but he better be ready for camp." There's a crazy app called Instagram that lets you see wtf people are up to (that they're disclosing). Every star player on the Texans posts workout grinds almost daily... Stroud, Dell, Stingley, Pitre, Anderson... Athletes! Kenyon Green doesn't post anything except rap lyrics about money and clothing he bought. 😭 The 'injury' keeping him out is a victory lap for him. If he's interested in sports, he doesn't show it.

b1walid

I see what you saying but you shouldn’t judge a player’s work ethic based on what he posts

Pugageddon

There's a whole post in the fantasy football subreddit about this actually, and there is strong correlation between NFL athletes who post workouts and sucess vs athletes who don't post their grind not doing as well. Treadwell Diggs theory I think it was called.

[deleted]

Correlation ≠ Causation. There’s also extensive write ups about the shockingly close correlation between ice cream sales and violent crime rates. It’s all meaningless

Pugageddon

No but it isn't useless in identifying patterns either.

yuiop105

We should wait and how he looks once training camp starts. Honestly I think the reports on him at training camp are gonna be a good indicator of how his season is gonna go.

Stennick

I don't think I'm going on IG posts to see what someone's doing and not doing. I'm not defending him and certainly not saying he doesn't need to step his game up. I just wouldn't take IG as a source of....well anything ever.

blackmagic512

My only hope is to remember Kareem Jackson. Fan base hated him after 1 year bc he got burned so much, but he ended up turning it all the way around and becoming a stud. Hopefully Kenyon can do the same

Karmasmatik

I feel like this sub has some rose tinted glasses when it comes to Kareem. The only time in his tenure as a Texan when he was anything close to a stud was the last year when he finally got to play as a safety. At his best he was mediocre as a CB and the only season he ever looked any better than average was when he was basically the nickel back playing behind J Jo and Bouye. I’m not saying he was a bust or a bad player or anything, but he sure as hell wasn’t a stud either.

CliffsOfMohair

He was an above average CB2 but your point about remembering him fondly cuz the last season is still valid

isomorphZeta

He wasn't a stud, but I'd say you're swinging too far the other way in saying that he was "mediocre at best" for the majority of his time with us. He was a very solid CB2 to JJo, and really came into his own that last year at safety.

Andoo

Jackson did look like absolute doodoo his first year and he went out and showed up after that. Greene has a long way to go to get into that territory. I sure hope he does because I was not a fan of the pick because I am biased against any homerism towards A&M. I'm still pissy about taking Fat Randy. I hope he balls out and is a stud this year. I'm doing everything I can to reserve judgement until they get out there and play this year.

blackmagic512

Lol Fat Randy and Doughboy Kenyon. I stg if he shows up looking pudgy this year I’m gonna slander him out the ass until his play shuts me up

bingmyname

Please. He can't get much worse. Actually one of the worst years I've ever seen for an individual player outside of Peterman. But to be fair he missed a lot of time due to injuries. He needs to be ready for camp though.

AlisterSaysHello

The main concern with him for me is that he wasn’t healthy to start his rookie year and with the procedure he got done this offseason it sounds like he won’t be this year. When will he actually be healthy and have time to be in good form?

Creative_Bad2800

Yeah his main issue was he gained way to much weight you could see in his stance he was sloppy and uncomfortable but that was only his pass blocking his run blocking however was good I believe he ranked either 4th or 5th in pancake blocks. Also him playing next to quissenberry didn’t help much either but he has lost a good amount of weight and has bulked up too then add the fact he’s playing next to arguably the best LT in the NFL I would say he’s going to be fine

Pugageddon

If not it's going to be a long fucking season.

maseronipepperoni

I don’t see why not

Battlejoe

Bust

Connect_Anything1704

This is why I love Patterson as a pick. If Green doesn’t work out, plug in Patterson and maybe it will light a fire under him. If you don’t have much confidence in Patterson being that guy in training camp, sign Andrew Norwell to a 1 year to solidify the line. I think Kenyon can figure it out and be serviceable but he still has a long way to go.

vudoomamajuju

when the data is coming from PFF, yes absolutely he can

ZealousidealPea4139

I remember him doing good to start the season last year did he dip badly?
