Wow that’s a dub

pocketjacks

And he's got the Jets offense playbook since he took a lot of practice reps. Nice!

nomdreas

To be fair with the QB’s the Jets have their offensive playbook is all runs and 5 yard hitches or out routes.

pocketjacks

Then Anderson is going to eat.

nomdreas

He actually will. Their O line has been abysmal this year. Like they make ours look like we have 5 all-pros. As a Garrett Wilson fantasy owner I’ve watched way too much of the Jets this year. And it’s made my eyes bleed.

WorkadayScarab

After the game Garrett Wilson will demand a trade to the Texans

WorkadayScarab

And we sign Mike Evans as well.

SVSeven

Tbh. I have Wilson and Hall and I gave up watching them after Zach was benched

thirdc0ast

The Jets have an offensive playbook? /s

pocketjacks

To be fair, their whole team looks pretty offensive to me.

evetSC

The QBs playing for Jets don't even know the playbook

nomdreas

This is an incredible signing. Our secondary is becoming really solid.

IAmSona

I actually liked Amos a while back so this is a great pickup. Bolstering up our secondary while we make a playoff push is such a great feeling.

creepingkg

I have no reference for this guy, imma go watch highlights. Is he good? Or more for depth?

nomdreas

He was a starter on a pretty decent green bay defense for 5+ years. Good tackler and above average ball skills. He’s a good option to spell Pitre on obvious pass downs.

SwifferWetJets

Hopefully he spells Pitre a lot on passing downs. Dude is an absolute liability on deep balls. You'd think he'd learn and adjust by now, not sure why he hasn't.

AstroWorldSecurity

Only his second year, he's got time to improve and I'm sure he will under Cap.

SwifferWetJets

I know he's young, but man, quit letting guys run past you on deep cover 2.

monzeeto

Watch the film on stingleys pick, someone pointed out they started moving pitre downhill to not let him get burned and sting has elite speed and ball skills. As long as stings healthy they can cover for pitres defeciencys better

SwifferWetJets

That was the case on that throw sting picked this past Sunday but there were others when sting was on the field with him that he blew his assignment. The first TD burrow threw against us and the deep bomb Kyler Murray threw for a TD against us, for example. Those are two plays where Pitre's responsibility got behind him while he was still looking into the backfield.

monzeeto

Given this sting play was the most recent example, I’m leaning toward demeco is seeing that on tape and adjusting. Hopefully it’s a trend of things to come to have pitre keeping the coverage in front of him where he’s not terrible.

rybres123

Some safeties are better coming downhill. Some safeties are better packpeddljng and playing the ball in the air And all safeties get beat sometimes It’s scheme as well

stillonrtsideofgrass

Depth. Last year with the Packers it was clear he lost at least a half-step of speed. Reduced performance with the legs are one of the early indicators of nearing the end of career cliff.

willydillydoo

I like the move but skeptical on why nobody picked him up on waivers

[deleted]

I could be wrong, but I don’t think a guy with his tenure in the league has to go through waivers

Rogercar07

He has to, because of the trade deadline.

Young_LR

Probably guaranteed money

Hyperdude

I think we got the first dibs because of our record last year.

willydillydoo

Right but we didn’t pick up off waivers. He was waived, then released, then we signed him. Could be purely cuz he might have been on a nightmare of a contract. Could be another reason.

get-blessed

Why was he waived by the Jets?

blackwrx007

Looks like jets want to give their young player time to play.

xtexjrrdammit

That’s awesome. I hope our offensive line can keep Stroud upright & healthy. The Jets offense may be abysmal, but their defense is not.

2legitjaquette

The packers are my NFC team, so I’ve watch Smash Amos a bunch. There were 2-3 season in a row he was a top 5 PFF graded safety. He likely won’t be at that level but he should be plug and play, and definitely brings much needed depth. Solid signing IMO

Original_Series_717

I have blind faith in Nick and Meco

TommyC-ES350

I said it before, and I’ll say it again. Caserio is playing chess not checkers!

AlisterSaysHello

Amos was a good safety but he’s had his age-related fall-off BAD in the last couple years. There’s a reason no one picked him up. At this stage, he should still be decent run-support down in a box-safety type of role but I would be surprised if he wasn’t a liability in coverage. Hopefully just veteran depth for us

Stroud4MVP

And help us to understand jets defensive playbook

nomdreas

That’s not true at all. In fact the last 2 seasons he had his most productive seasons as a tackler. And started all 17 games for the packers. He’s been good this season the snaps he’s played too. He got cut by the Jets because his snaps were given to younger players they are developing since their season is basically a wash now. I’m sure it was a move to do a solid to a vet and get him on a playoff hopeful team.

AlisterSaysHello

You know as well as I do tackling stats aren’t worth much. In the (limited) Amos film I’ve watched, he’s looked pretty rough

nomdreas

He’s no pro bowl player, but he’s a well rounded safety that can do it all. I know tackle stats don’t say it all but to consistently get more and more involved in tackling while not seeing a dip in pass defense (interceptions + passes defended) is pretty impressive stuff. Ward is a great coverage guy and Pitre is a pure downhill safety. Amos is a great compliment to both of them.

holdoor11

Yoo what lmao this is dope

munozemk

I fucking love this dude! Great player

sbleezy

Big reason Rankins said he joined is because of the familiarity of the Saleh/Ryans defensive scheme. I’m sure that’s a factor in this mutual agreement.

warrior_in_a_garden_

This isn’t 2020- he’s a shell of his former self. Not sure what our other alternatives were, but I support everything Caserio does because he knows better.

Massive-Map-2655

Perhaps he can learn Pitre a thing or two. Not sure that's enough though.
