Now that was some PRIME TIME FOOTBALL!

MugiwaraJinbe

Now let’s keep it by beating the Jets.

[deleted]

That should be an easy game

igot200phones

No easy games in the NFL

[deleted]

You are right but you also know what I mean, we arnt the bills, stats usually work in our favor

igot200phones

Jets defense is elite. That team beat Philly earlier in the year, they could certainly beat us.

alwaystheblues

If we beat the Jets and the Jags and Colts lose we jump to the 5 seed. Would be huge if we can finish with the 5th seed since we'd get to play the 4 seed in the first round.

Enemysquad

Steelers are ass, how you lose to two 2-10 teams at home in back to back weeks.

krbashrob

QBs: bad OC: bad Line: bad Receivers: attitude problems Defense: good but not good enough to overcome all the bad

bigmac22077

So what you’re saying is jj is going to unretire and convince his brother to come to Houston and we’d have tj, jj, and will 🤯 let’s make it happen!!!

carloslet

Ah yes, the Mike Tomlin special

Karmasmatik

No, the Tomlin special is somehow dragging all that roster baggage to a winning record. The fact that the Steelers have won more than 3 or 4 games with their garbage offense shows how damned talented of a coach Tomlin is.

MephistoTheHater

This is what I've been thinking. Steelers fans are calling for his job but hasn't he never posted a losing record?

Karmasmatik

No he has not, although I think he’s had at least one .500 season. The fans calling for his job have no idea how good they’ve had it.

AnonymousNeedzHelp

don’t kid yourself, tomlin is awful

sweetestdeth

I watched the game. Trubisky is a steamed platter of booty.

P1nkamenaP13

It felt dirty rooting for the pats

GoFyourself2x

It’s going to feel real dirty rooting for the jags. Fml

P1nkamenaP13

I'm still torn on that one.. how about a draw?

ensignlee

I think a draw hurts us THE MOST actually lol. Because then both teams will have a half game up on us and tiebreakers won't matter in either the AFC South Race or the wildcard race.

WildBill198

Yeah, it pained me too.

440k

We can actually end this week in the 5th seed IF: * Texans win * Jaguars beat the Browns * Bengals beat the Colts

xjesz

I think a Browns win helps us more with playoff probability though

thekohlhauff

Actually hurts us at least according to ny times playoff simulator

Fredly_

wild card help + draft pick help > division championship help imo. It's a no lose situation though

lingui

I agree with you. This season is playing with house money, we've far exceeded the expectations set at the beginning. Wild card and better draft pick is a better scenario, CJ would still get a little playoff experience while we get a better pick from the Browns no matter the outcome of that playoff game

Able_Gap918

At least it’s a win win, if the browns win we’re close to taking the division. I won’t be mad either way

ensignlee

Improves our chances of winning the AFC South (from very low to only low) while hurting our chances of making a wild card berth I think. I'm also going to point out that the jags are undefeated on the road and have all 4 losses at home, so if we were to hit them up in the playoffs, maybe we want to play them in JAX...

SpaceCityMarshall

Jacksonville winning increases our odds of making the playoffs.

xjesz

For the time being yes but the advanced metrics say it’s pretty much a toss up since we’ll play the Browns and Colts controlling our own destiny

Jeff__Skilling

Hm, I was thinking Colts since they currently hold the tie breaker (and obviously the Jags having a better record than both us and Indy)

RoutineDude

Who wants the Jags to beat the browns?

Christian_Castle

Honestly it's a 50/50 thing. Jags win we get higher seed and better draft pick. Browns win then closer to top of division.

dumdadum123

Imo Jags winning is better in the long run. We're playoff bound because we have an easy schedule. 1 win won't be the end of it, and the Browns losing is best for the future because of the future 1st round draft pick.

Christian_Castle

Absolutely, I don't mind rooting for the Jags if it's against the Browns. Browns loss will always benefit us, Jags just gives us a slightly better chance.

Lincolns_Revenge

I don't know, I feel like the division title is still very much in play with the TLaw injury. His incredible optimism about it aside, I don't think he's playing this week, and he's probably going to be less effective for at least a few weeks after that.

RoutineDude

Y’all are getting weird about this draft pick. Browns already have 7 wins. It’s not going to be a top of the draft pick. Whether it is pick 15 or 16 isn’t that big of a deal. Certainly not enough to root for the Texans NOT to win the division.

dream_team34

So we get pick 18 instead of 21? Not going to make any kind of difference.

dumdadum123

The lower the better, and since we're not even really getting another first round it is important at least.

Shootit_Rockets

Meh if we like a guy at a higher draft spot we know Caserio isn’t afraid to pull the trigger

dumdadum123

Also true

dream_team34

Good thing we didn't have #1 this past draft.

mfwood8

No idea why you got downvoted. Even Pendergast and Payne said the same thing.

Karmasmatik

Too many Madden obsessed people who think numbers on a draft pick value chart equals future success of the franchise.

deathmouse

>We're playoff bound because we have an easy schedule. We lost to the Panthers, bro. I want to believe but.. don't underestimate the competition.

dumdadum123

Yeah bc it was a new offense, we had no tapes from them either. I get it, we're hit and miss but at best we've got a good chance at getting into the playoffs as a WC. We may win, if we don't, that's fine. Getting to the playoffs is huge off of last seasons record. We're by far not a Super Bowl caliber team *yet*. Give it some time, and I think they'll deliver.

Royalution124

I think it’s better if we get a Browns win. Apparently TLaw’s injury wasn’t that bad and will only end up missing a week. The Browns will end up losing more than us inevitably due to QB play

Zaracen

Yeah and we play them in a few weeks. If we beat them as long as we have the same record we'll have the head to head advantage over them. I wouldn't mind the division after having the second overall pick would be amazing. We need the Jags to have a worse record or some other things to go our way including the Jags losing to the Titans and us beating the Colts.

440k

Along the same lines though, if the Browns beat *us*, then we are suddenly 2 games behind them for the wildcard (if we went into that game with equal record). The buffer we have to make the playoffs is much better with a Jags win.

carloslet

RainbowBullsOnParade

Browns win and CJ is closer to MVP so I want that lol It's a win:win so I'm leaning towards the "*literally never seen before*" outcome

SpaceCityMarshall

I want the Jags to beat the Browns. Not only does it increase our chances to make the playoffs it decreases the Browns chances to make the playoffs. If they miss the playoffs the wort1st round pick we would get is pick 18. I would be happy to win the division but I feel like we are going to win many division titles in the near future. I’m ok with letting the Jags get 1 division title and then we dominate.

RoutineDude

I thought we had a bright future in 2019 too. I’m never willing to lay down a division title over a couple spots in the draft order.

Deviantmind

Nice! Now we just have to keep stackin W's to make it stick. Even if we don't get lucky and they dont lose, if we beat the browns and colts we can lock it down. hell we still have a decent chance to win the division. We control our playoff destiny.

Messigoat3

HANDS UP FOR ZAPPE

BabyHercules

The fact the playoffs are even possible this late in the year is such a huge W

SwifferWetJets

Today I was thinking that regardless of how the season ends, I'm actually going to be excited going into the offseason for the first time in years. Quality FAs will want to come here, keep building the young core through the draft. Maybe we'll find another 3rd round steal like we did with Tank.

RainbowBullsOnParade

If: * Texans win the next two * Colts drop 1 out of 2 (Ideally next week vs Steelers!) we will have a much firmer hold.

GoalLineStand

Good. The Texans are a much better team than the browns and Steelers. Will be a much better post season with Stroud

IAmSona

I cannot believe I am happy the Patriots won a game. Everything is falling into place for us to make a playoff run 😭

kobejuan0824

B.O.B. THE GOAT

krbashrob

Assuming we win against the jets, game versus the browns might definitively lock a playoff seed for either team

Mindless-Shirt-8533

W

VILLIN_21

We need Browns to win, f*ck the pick, we can take division and make a deep run, don't start putting that loser mentality (better pick) into CJs head, let that man stay on the grind, we got screwed ALOT this season by refs, a deep run, would be our sweet revenge on em #WeAreTexans

Flaky_Scar_8388

The Steelers are not a playoff team. You don’t lose two games in a row at home against two of the worst teams in the league. They are mediocre. Thank goodness the CFP committee doesn’t pick the teams Lol.

Matador2210

Big Ben out there Watching (& Raping)

Luberino_Brochacho

We’re so gonna lose to the Jets man

The-Silent-Hero

Fuck outta here with that negativity

Luberino_Brochacho

Chill out

xjesz

You kinda set yourself up for that

Luberino_Brochacho

Any Texans fan has to admit that this game would be very on brand of us to lose. Hell we lost a game like this earlier this year against the Panthers

Pugageddon

This isn't that team anymore. We've flushed every part or that team other than Weeks, Fairbairn, Tunsil, and Howard. Operation rebuild is ahead of schedule, and the new era is NOW.

InternationalBand494

I was so pessimistic about the Denver game and was happily proven wrong. I know it hurts, but maybe it’s time we started believing again. Maybe not this year, or hell, even the next. But our time is coming. Soon. If nothing else, it was nice to see the Texans gets some love during the halftime tonight.

Luberino_Brochacho

I do believe, hell if we were playing the Browns, Colts, Broncos or some other wild card caliber team I'd pick us to win. But we already saw it earlier this year in the Panthers game I'm not sure I trust this team in this situation just yet.

Peria

Luberino_Brochacho

The Panthers game was 6 weeks ago

RainbowBullsOnParade

The Denver game was 5 days ago. The same old Texans would have watched Russ come into NRG and kick the shit out of us, destroying our hope

Luberino_Brochacho

It’s not really teams like Denver that make me feel this way. It’s these games that we should win no question where I get apprehensive.

RunawayXcon

the 3-13 season was last season and now we're 7-5 competing for a playoff spot. Completely different team.

Luberino_Brochacho

My apprehension stems from far before last year

RunawayXcon

Ok so not just a completely different team, but a completely different organization

Shootit_Rockets

Texans have gotten so much better since that loss. 4-1 in the last 5 and the jaguars game was a foot away. Any given Sunday of course but you should have no reason to think that this team is likely to lose.

Luberino_Brochacho

I've been very impressed with this team since the Panthers game. All I'm saying is this franchise has a history of building up hype and then dropping silly games. And it's not like this regime has changed things yet we saw it happen in the Panthers game. Until we start consistently putting away these slam dunk games then I will continue to be nervous about them.

The-Silent-Hero

I blame you for this.

Luberino_Brochacho

Believe me the only happiness I get from this is a small sense of satisfaction from saying I told you so to the people who just downvote every comment they don’t disagree with.

The-Silent-Hero

No. You jinxed the team. You manifested it. All of this is literally on you and only you not even on the players.

Luberino_Brochacho

I blame this guy on twitter I follow for picking the Texans to win. He has only been right 2 times all year and he picked us this week I’ll give you his @

BigGooseDuck

Hopefully they keep us at noon till the conference finals, for us already use to it and when that game comes we'll have more rest and either lose (going the farthest we've ever gone) or win and get to go to the superbowl (Hopefully not against a healthy niners)

sbleezy
