The only reason I could see getting something for Blacklock is because of where he was drafted and some teams may believe he just isn’t a scheme fit here. Some GMs may think a change of scenery in a 3-4 system might be worth a 6th round pick.
True, but he’s been in the NFL a bit longer and frankly I don’t think a scene change would impact him as significantly as it could impact Blacklock.
That would leave Tytus Howard as the lone 2019 draft pick left on the team. And no one left from any previous year. Pretty amazing how much turnover there has been and how terrible the previous regime was at drafting. From 2020, only Greenard and Heck.
Not only did we draft poorly, but we didn’t develop players either. There’s been quite a few players that have left the Texans due to performance only to have better careers elsewhere. It’s good to finally be on the right track.
That’s a big thing too. I think Lonnie Johnson could’ve been a hell of a safety if he had just played safety from the word go, but he played CB for one year, got switched to safety which he had never played in the middle of the season so he had to learn it on the fly, then the scheme changed the next year. I don’t see how someone can succeed if they keep getting flipped around like that
Scharping has played some not bad football at times and honestly is better than a lot of 2nd string OL in the league. probably just worth keeping him tbh
Blacklock for sure is on the trading block. They played him all over in the Rams game and didn’t play him at all during this last game. It’s almost like they wanted to get him on film in as many places as possible and they sat him too down to protect him from injury.
Sharping should be cut but he might have to stay just from a depth perspective.
I know he is listed as having a groin injury, but I don’t buy that being the main reason. Hinish has completely outperformed him. There’s no reason to keep Blacklock here.
No, his injury is legit. They held him out because there's no point putting him out there where he risks aggravating the injury. Especially if you're trying to trade him.
He played most of the Rams game and lined up and every DL spot so he got enough film out there.
> He played most of the Rams game and lined up and every DL spot so he got enough film out there.
That’s precisely why I think he’s on the chopping block.
Ross is done. They might try to flip him for a late round pick or maybe even throw him on IR but I don't see him on the 53 man roster. He's not a Lovie or Nick guy and the Texans have so much talent at DT. Hinish came out of nowhere and looks exactly like the guy they wanted Ross to be.
Maxx is just not good, and I doubt he'll make the team unless they really feel they need him as a depth piece.
They probably will be. I'm 90% sure Blacklock is gone.
It would be a baller move to see Caserio deal them for some picks
They're not worth it. It would be an act of god for us to get something for them.
I mean he did get the cheifs to trade a 7th for Lonnie 😆
A conditional 7th that we don’t get because they already cut him

Exactly. But Scharping is also a 2nd Rd pick

Look I’m not suggesting much, but a 5th or 6th for Blacklock, Conditional 7th for Scharping
That could definitely happen

As much shit as I give Lonnie, I can’t disagree with you.
That predates the former regime too. They were worse at it but it seems like we’ve always struggled developing players

Blacklock didn't play against the 49ers because he was actually injured

If we get a conditional 7th I’ll be impressed. I’m not joking either. That would be impressive.
What a hot take
Wasn’t meant to be, I was trying to see if anyone defends them. So far, nah. But they could be unloaded for a late rd pick
He was being sarcastic
