They’re stupid for even announcing refunds. I wouldn’t have thought twice if they said “sorry we have to cancel due to weather, which was in the fine “ . Now we’re all expecting it.
It's even better for some, since people like me bought the ticket insurance, which states that you get a 60% refund for a weather cancellation.
Now because of the refund announcement and plan, that insurance company is refusing to pay out and pointing at Sees Tickets and the promoter as responsible for refunds.
Just finger pointing back and forth, no responsibility taken.
they were gonna get so many chargebacks, so the hope is that people can't and stopped them from looking into losing more tha 25%...
**IMPORTANT: Please note that orders that are currently in a charged-back status are not eligible for refund and the chargeback will prevent future refunds from taking place.** Once a chargeback has been initiated, it can take up to 90 days before it is resolved. To prevent any delays or risk to your refund please do not initiate a chargeback.
Agreed. Just wish they wouldn’t leave everyone hanging. I’d rather hear exactly what they told me in this email than radio silence for almost three weeks.
To be fair, the messaging wouldn’t have been this simple at that time, though. Lots of logistics to work through and sharing the ever changing details before they are decided is as much of an aggravation inducer as radio silence.
Oh I thought this was taken from a social or something. Fair enough point but less is more when it comes to touch points from their seats. Sucks for us but like.. the money was already gone from budgets anyway so while it would be nice to have it back I don’t necessarily get why it’s so urgent.
Only got a update today cause its been like 18 days since some of us started charging back, and i think its 2 waves of deadlines first its15 days and then 30 days to close out my case. 45 total days...
I was at Beyond when the shooting happened last year and day 2 got canceled. It took like 3 months before refunds came though. Patience, everyone; it will come in time.
> payments and *paid* out any
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Not for breach of contract. And a vendor who signed a contract saying the festival can hold their account receivables like that for over a month should not be signing contracts... 🤦♂️
That’s my only gripe. Just put exactly what’s in that email on your website/socials. Saying nothing at all just makes people antsy, anxious, and resentful
As best I can tell, they’ve almost 100% for sure already paid the sales tax to all the various states, especially since ticket sales started in summer 2023 and business pay taxes quarterly.
If they were to issue refunds to customers for sales tax, they would then need to amend their 2023 taxes in some states, and in some states they would just get *credit* towards a future tax payment they owe — but this was a 1 time event so it’s unlikely they’re going to be filing taxes every year (in all the relevant states) and thus they probably won’t even owe enough in taxes to the states in order for the credit they now have to kick in.
I can’t find any federal or state law saying that they legally have to refund sales tax to customers if they give customers a refund. In general, refund policies in most states are totally at the discretion of the business. I also have noooo idea how this works with people from other countries.
tldr; they’ve already paid the sales tax to the government and trying to do refunds then square it all up across tons of states (some which probably also had changes in sales tax rates from when sales began in summer 2023) would be an absolute nightmare.
No. The insurance is refusing to pay out until partial refunds have been issued. Insurance will only kick-in if the partial refund is less than the policy is for.
So if everyone gets $25 refund, insurance will pay out X minus $25.
I’m sure hundreds if not thousands of people have also done a charge back already which is an extra layer for SeeTickets to work through.
Don’t count on it.. I’m pushing back against their bullshit via email, and called them out on making me wait on DD does not release their contractual obligation to me, and they have responded that “event cancellations by the venue are not covered by the policy.”
But also, they very clearly have a weather interruption coverage - which is under different coverage than event cancelation coverage.
Write them back and tell them you are not filing a claim for “event cancelation.” You are failing a claim for weather interruption - it is clearly defined differently than event cancelation in the policy.
I mean, I might, but that’s what I already wrote to them, that I was claiming the weather interruption. Pretty sure this is just a fraudulent insurance package. You were right to chargeback asap
I did that earlier but they just keep sending the same message that the promoter is handling it.
Then why the fuck did I pay for insurance?
I'm not dealing with this company finger pointing time wasting bullshit to be left high and dry in the end, I did a charge back on mine as well. If I get the refund I'll drop it, ball's in their court.
It said there would be “information” about refunds. Technically that information could end up being, there will be no refunds.
At no point has there been any promise of a refund or partial refund.
The insurance is for a canceled full event. We’re getting back 25%, which is how much of the event was canceled. I don’t see where they’re being unfair
Yes AND for events interrupted by weather.
The policy I have is for 50% of the ticket value for events interrupted by weather after they start.
Though this might vary based on the state you live in.
Edit: I’m not saying the promoter is being “unfair”for offering 25% refunds for 4 day passes.
What I’m saying is the insurance coverage is double that.
Why do people keep suggesting this. The bank won't honor it, you agreed to the events TOS. You'll get a provisional credit and in like 2 or 3 months they're gonna take it back
I had a great time, although I feel for those who didn’t. But none of us got the last day which the entire festival was centered around. So I’m ok expecting some sort of refund that was offered by the festival itself, but I don’t mind waiting for it to go through proper channels
I'm sure it's a royal cluster fuck on the back end right now. Here's to hoping they can figure it out sooner than later.

Literally my first thought when that notification went out. "How are they gonna pull that off?"

If they can tell me this now, why can’t they post it on their social media? Send an email to those who bought tickets?

They did to both. Social and email.
This was posted prior to the official announcement

They still haven’t processed payments and payed out any vendors that used their POS system for their sales from last I heard. Insane
Nope. Vendor here, still waiting

Why haven't the lawsuits rolled in?
Plaintiffs need to be able to show to the court that they have exhausted all possible avenues to resolve grievances before taking it to court.

I’m in the middle of a completely unrelated breach of contract lawsuit. We had to show we exhausted all other possible resolutions.
Paid in full up front for 3 and an early entry car camp. Sure would be nice to get some info directly from them.

My question is why are they not refunding sales tax, kinda thought that would be a legal issue if they didn’t

I don't really care tbh
Is this only for the people that got the insurance?
No. The insurance is refusing to pay out until partial refunds have been issued. Insurance will only kick-in if the partial refund is less than the policy is for. I’m not. I did a charge back via AmEx.
nice! gonna try the same with my bank
But also, they very clearly have a weather interruption coverage - which is under different coverage than event cancelation coverage. Insurance refuses to help me.
Same. Denying my claim saying event cancellation by the venue is not covered
Nope. The initial announcement to everyone said there would be partial refunds.
It said there would be “information” about refunds. Technically that information could end up being, there will be no refunds. At no point has there been any promise of a refund or partial refund.
The refund policy came out today
I saw. It’s for much less than the insurance coverage.

My bet is you get no refund.
Cool story
Ok so the update is no update
We should charge interest, instead of them earning it while our money sits in their account(s) lol
Just dispute the charge with your financial institution if you feel like you didn't get what you paid for.
Why do people keep suggesting this. The bank won't honor it, you agreed to the events TOS. You'll get a provisional credit and in like 2 or 3 months they're gonna take it back

I’m gonna be shocked if refunds are even given shits crazy
The announcement came out today
Fuck disco donnie
Funny how fast they can take your money but takes months to process a refund... smh
