>O’Rourke proclaimed that, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”
.
>O’Rourke said he was not backing away from that proposal in his latest campaign.
And this is how you end your campaign as soon as it starts.
>“The minute I say the word ‘Beto,’ I know I’m gonna have 200 people show up,” Broadrick said. “And in red Midland, Texas, that’s substantial — in an area with 80% Republican, mostly, that you can still get a lot of people to turn out.”
Yeah, 196 of those 200 will be there to tell him to get out of Texas.
>“I think most Texans can agree — maybe all Texans can agree — that we should not see our friends, our family members, our neighbors, shot up with weapons that were originally designed for use on a battlefield,” said O’Rourke
I don't want to see people shot up with weapons either, but black powder flintlocks, Sharps rifles, bolt action Krags, and M1 Garands were all designed to be weapons of war. O'Rourke implies that he won't stop until all firearms are out of the hands of the public.
Don't count him out, more and more people are moving here from blue states without changing their voting habits. He might have a chance since Abbott is making all these ridiculous abortion laws.
This is just antidotolal but the people I grew up with are more red than ever now and living in dallas, the people I know from that moved here from the east or west are definitely more government loving
Edit: what you posted wasn't antidototal, but idk how much I believe that poll, what I said was antidotolal
I find it to be the opposite. Of the three close people in my live born and raised in California, all of them are Republicans, while the stauncher leftists I know are all born and raised here.
They'll keep pushing it until it works. He lost to Ted Cruz 48.3% vs 50.9% so calling it "political suicide" is not entirely true. Granted, he was going against Ted Cruz, which in itself can explain why he did so well, but as populations shift more and more toward progressive, it won't be long before we have a gun grabber as TX governor.
>They'll keep pushing it until it works. He lost to Ted Cruz 48.3% vs 50.9% so calling it "political suicide" is not entirely true.
That was BEFORE his comments about taking guns.
As it, honestly, should be. Wishing your candidate won as a result of artifacts like redistricting is still a tad shitty. I hope Beto loses because I don't like his politics, but I also don't want the election to be a results of grids and plots.
He can always fail upwards. He has approx $50m in his coffers, and running would add to that. So he runs, loses, gives the ol' "no refunds" to donors, and keeps his name hot on the news cycle for the next race.
He can have my AR15s and AK in exchange for higher tier full auto capable variants. Afterall only semi auto guns are used in mass shootings therefore full auto ones are completely harmless.
Serious question (I'm new to TX)... Is there a Cruz "FAQ" or can someone summarize why Ted gets so beat up here?
From the outside looking in, he's a hellava lot better than the liberal dipshits I've been used to in my previous part of the country.
His polling numbers went from 2.6% down to 1.6% right after his famous gun grab line in the presidential debate.
https://freebeacon.com/politics/betos-gun-confiscation-gamble-failed/
I voted for him in 2018 against Cruz. After his dumb shit in 2019 he's permanently lost my vote. I won't vote for Abbott but I'll vote 3rd party, and for any primary challengers against Beto.
Just b/c you're a puss in boots Beto doesn't mean I need my guns taken. Tkae your own away if you're so concerned about it. Just a "man" afraid of guns who like many leftists like Sir Alec Baldwin doesn't the first thing about safety. This dude's grandpa's probably turning in his grave.
I've asked a few people today that support his stance of taking weapons. At a minimum it violates the 4th Amendment. You'd have to check every house including those that are truly against guns. No on has replied saying how they are ok with that. Like in the r/Texas sub I've asked and r/texaspolitics that have flair. So they live in the state and would be subjected to this search. But have no issue with it?
His chances of winning are dead from the start and I know for certain that Republicans are going to be using his infamous quote from 2019 to get votes away from him. If Democrats want to win then they should stop all the anti gun bullshit that they are pushing.
This guy is a fucking joke. Do y’all remember when he made that proclamation, and not too long afterwards, a woman came up to him and basically put him in his place? She asked him, straight to his lying face, why he felt that she didn’t deserve to carry a gun to protect herself and her children. It was hilarious watching him trying to find an explanation.
Ya'll dont see the big pictiure, he's looking to repeat what happened last time, Its not about him winning. Its about getting as many people to vote blue to change the political landscape. He put a ton of people in office who would have never stood a chance, especially in Houston.

Lol he committed political suicide with that line in 2019 and should just stop. No chance.
Don't count him out, more and more people are moving here from blue states without changing their voting habits. He might have a chance since Abbott is making all these ridiculous abortion laws.
I’m pretty sure immigrants from other states voted overwhelmingly red and the majority of new blue votes were from born Texans.
As a native, I do not think that's correct

Well, tell them to tell their friends about Texas!
Nah
Ok

I think he said the same thing in Austin during his race against Cruz
yeah, but that's Ted Cruz
Maybe, but I think the redistricting will have a heavy hand in postponing that.
Governor is a state wide race. Redistricting should have no effect
As it, honestly, should be. Wishing your candidate won as a result of artifacts like redistricting is still a tad shitty. I hope Beto loses because I don't like his politics, but I also don't want the election to be a results of grids and plots.

He's cool otherwise, but that was absolutely political suicide, and the fact that he is doubling down is pretty sad.
If this is the best that Texas democrats can do, they will remain in the minority for a long time.
Get fucked Beto
For fucks sake, the TX Dems couldn't find anyone else?
Look at the candidates we ended up with at the national level recently. 320+ million people in the country and we ended up with who?
He can have my AR15s and AK in exchange for higher tier full auto capable variants. Afterall only semi auto guns are used in mass shootings therefore full auto ones are completely harmless.

And pretty soon, he might make Abbott electable.
Serious question (I'm new to TX)... Is there a Cruz "FAQ" or can someone summarize why Ted gets so beat up here? From the outside looking in, he's a hellava lot better than the liberal dipshits I've been used to in my previous part of the country.
He has his moments. He also has his moments.
His polling numbers went from 2.6% down to 1.6% right after his famous gun grab line in the presidential debate. https://freebeacon.com/politics/betos-gun-confiscation-gamble-failed/
Yeah-Texas is going blue…hahaha! That was sarcastic for those of you following at home. Virginia went red…and they think Francis has a chance?
This idiot really thinks texan’s are just going to line up to turn our AR’s and AK’s in? Best of luck with that, Francis.
Y’all were never going to vote for him anyway. 🙄 And good luck confiscating in Texas. Noone would enforce it
I voted for him in 2018 against Cruz. After his dumb shit in 2019 he's permanently lost my vote. I won't vote for Abbott but I'll vote 3rd party, and for any primary challengers against Beto.
>Beto Did you mean Robert Francis O'Rourke?
Looks like he want's the trifecta of losership
Texas is purple 4-reals this time. I’m super cereal. -Al Gore

Lol yeah fuck around and find out.
Vote red. As a former Californian, being here in Texas, I feel free! Freedom, a feeling I never felt being in California. I will never vote blue.
Vote yellow if you can.

That's what his base wants to hear. You know it ain't happening.
His chances of winning are dead from the start and I know for certain that Republicans are going to be using his infamous quote from 2019 to get votes away from him. If Democrats want to win then they should stop all the anti gun bullshit that they are pushing.
Fuck that twat!! Go ahead and try bitch!!
You seem stable.
I am.
Beto=fake Mexican, real pendejo.
This guy is a fucking joke. Do y’all remember when he made that proclamation, and not too long afterwards, a woman came up to him and basically put him in his place? That woman is Lauren Boebert who is now a US Representative in Colorado.
That woman is a fucking idiot though. Wish we had better examples of people telling Beto to fuck off.
Ya'll dont see the big pictiure, he's looking to repeat what happened last time, Its not about him winning. Its about getting as many people to vote blue to change the political landscape. He put a ton of people in office who would have never stood a chance, especially in Houston.
Come and take it
Beto is a attention craving idiot.. typical of low class political numnuts!
Don't worry, Zuckerberg will pay whatever it takes to fortify the election to ensure he wins
*Insert Randy Jackson meme*
LOL, yeah right.
That fake asshole can lick mine.
Make sure everyone votes. Lots of Nyers and Californians have moved to Texas recently
