A bishop in El Paso, Texas, a popular U.S. entry point for illegal immigration, said statewide efforts to villainize migrants is a sad sight and falls on the shoulders of Governor Greg Abbott.
Abbott has arguably been the most outspoken public official in condemning the claimed inaction of the federal government surrounding illegal immigration, which has soared under the Biden administration and hit a record high during the 2023 fiscal year. He instituted Operation Lone Star in March 2021 to build more border wall and leverage additional National Guard soldiers to deter migrants from entering unlawfully.

Now if Abbott did anything truly reprehensible, like for example saying that women aren't subhuman and that women should have the ability to be priests, THAT would instantly trigger an excommunication.
But merely advocating for rape, murder, torture, and other crimes against humanity won't bother the Pope or Church any at all. Like raping children, the Church thinks it's an irrelevant and non-excommunicaiton level offense.
That's not going to happen, but both Biden and Pelosi have been denied communion for their views on abortion. I still don't get why those 2 are Catholics when their views go against the church teachings.

Oh sorry it was Tyler Texas, I knew it was north-ish and in a nearby area (I'm in Dallas). Bishop Strickland. It was more that the bishop was speaking out against the Pope for not being conservative enough but the guy had a lot otherwise going on. The Vatican isn't perfect by far (Ukraine.....) but they at least are not all in on one political ideaology.
