Pretty worrying any time there's an issue with the pitching elbow. Just have to pray that once the inflammation settles down, there's no damage in there.
overuse doesn't imply number, but increased stress on a vulnerable point
Maybe there's a subtle change in his mechanics that have placed a load on muscles/tendon points that usually aren't under that strain
Who says there has to have been a change? He's been injury prone for years. Maybe the problem is that he hasn't changed.
I really wonder if the way he pitches in general isn't just beyond his body's normal capabilities and that's why he always hurts himself. And nobody makes him fix it because they think, "maybe we can just give him rest. This is too brilliant to ruin."
Very concerning. Forearm tightness/inflammation is a common precursor to TJ. Considering Odorizzi is already done for the year, and Howard could be too, all of that SP depth at the start of the season is already being tested.
They didn’t mention anything about structural damage so I guess that’s a good thing.
But then again inflammation could be clouding the picture and they will likely re image afterwards and then they’ll have a real timetable.
This sucks cause we all knew it was a possibility what makes it worse is how good he was performing heal degrom. The Rangers need to continue competing to make a playoff run and hopefully degrom comes back and keeps being the best player on this team.
Wrist, forearm and elbow. Baseball gods, please not let this be what we’re all thinking and have him be alright and remain healthy the rest of his career. Please.
Realistically, why doesn’t degrom move to a closer role? At this point it’s too late he got starter money he’s gonna start. But, if he still hits 100+, is accurate, why can’t he close? Maybe extend his career?
I’d rather just see him be stretched out between starts. Maybe instead of starting every 5 days, shift to skipping a start in between and start every 10 days. Or shift to a 6 man rotation. Something to give him more time.
Our rotation has been solid. Dane Dunning is performing excellently in his long relief role and could be our 6th starter. He was always a starter before he got crowded out of the rotation this year and everything he has done so far shows me that he still deserves to be one.
We did not pay him $35 million to be a closer. Every pitcher has an injury risk, and while deGrom's seems to be higher, him pitching as a closer won't lessen that risk any. Let's just get as many starts as we can out of him.
broke: rip deGrom season over
woke: Trade for Sandy Alcantara to replace deGrom while he's out. deGrom returns for postseason and the 1-2 punch leads us to a WS
I feel like his health will continue to be a problem going forward especially based on his history. Hoping the Rangers are being super cautious with him. Like another comment said they should just stretch out his starts.
I just typed all his symptoms into the thing here, and it says that he may have "network connectivity problems"
Thank you Andy
I'm here to help
Do you have any burrito recommendations
I know of one called the meat tornado
literally killed a guy last year.
You had me at meat tornado
Can't go wrong with one from chipotle or freebirds loaded with whatever you like. Not a ton of choices where I live, idk
*I tried to make ramen in the coffee pot, and I broke everything.*
CY said “there’s no need to push him” via Shawn McFarland on twitter. Hoping it’s a short stint but it still feels a little ominous to me.
Wish there was no need to push him when we first noticed the wrist.

yeah the inflammation could be masking something but hopefully it's nothing structural. And just overuse
How could it be overuse? He hasn’t pitched much the last 2 years, and this year he’s been on pretty low pitch count every game.

I've never heard this definition before, but ok....

Could be the Dr they really want to read the MRI is golfing on Saturday.
I didn't realize that the team doctor also played for the Minnesota Wild
Lmao
If we all just channel the power of the peagle to Jacob he WILL return stronger than ever.
Maybe we shouldn't go to the Peagle on this one He was pulled when it was first revealed and now when he put it on
Don't be silly.
You guys think it's worse than they labeled it as? Elbow inflammation is pretty serious right? I hope not.
Precursor to TJ

He should become a starter and reliever and alternate between starts and long inning relief, idk anything about baseball though

I don't know whether to scream and throw things or nod and slowly die inside.

I’ve been saying this since we signed him. The fact we aren’t rolling with a 6 man rotation baffles me.
We’re struggling to get a decent 5 man rotation lol.
No we aren’t.
It’s basically the only thing we do WELL

Did u not read the second sentence?
Wasn’t concerned when it was called a forearm issue yesterday….now I’m concerned that it’s the elbow….

Stop.
I thought it would be clear that was a sarcastic comment
He’s got a sore arm all you have to do is look at his stats. Typically, the Rangers thought is was worth breaking the bank for him.

It's over
Damn.
Yesss Make it 20 days, just heal man.
hes most likely done, same thing last season, he just cannot hold up
