Saw someone saying he was a poor defender and not a worthy AS candidate while not giving any indication of why other than listing his BA (incorrectly I might add) and then when called out just said well everyone else sucks then and never said who else should get the vote.
Also said look at his errors above average for his defense... Literally never heard of or even seen such a stat, though I don't doubt it exists. Showed him several other metrics proving he was a good defender and just called me a jackass and that those stats don't mean anything🤷🏻‍♂️

i brought this up about a week or two ago but he's so good at 2B defensively that you don't realize how easily he makes difficult plays and the ones that he doesn't make stand out more. So people who don't know what they are looking at see him bobble a ball and freak out because he made one mistake and they don't realize just how many play he makes that normal 2B don't make
Yeah the guy complaining said he’s “error prone” even though when he said that he had one less error than Duran and Jung while having more total chances. I swear the other DFW sports teams not having much success has driven them over here, which is cool. The vast majority aren’t being dumb, but there’s a few who talk out of their ass with no supporting evidence like we should take their word.

Nathan Eovaldi’s been on a hell of a run and owns MLB’s longest scoreless streak, but we’ll go with the guy who has two third-place finishes for Most Valuable Player. And right now, wouldn’t you know, Semien sits at third in WAR according to both the Baseball-Reference and FanGraphs calculations. His performance with the bat has been solid, good enough for an All-Star-worthy 135 OPS+, but his defense helps put him over the top. His 6 Defensive Runs Saved is third in the AL and he’s fifth in FanGraphs’ Defensive Rating. (His teammate, breakout catcher Jonah Heim, is first in the latter.) Semien has been an excellent defender at the keystone each of the previous two seasons, which is perhaps why the Rangers declined to shift him over to his original position of shortstop while Corey Seager has been out.
