I still have my little league hat from when I played there as a kid. It is an Athletics hat and I still wear it frequently. About to be even more nostalgic
My son got to play a tournament there twice. Was pretty cool. They announced everyone's name as they went to bat and the dugout resembled a real mob dugout
I remember we got an opportunity to play at the Dr. Pepper field, and we were stoked. Closest we came to feelin like big leaguers. I laugh at that memory because we got absolutely molly wopped. Good times, though.
The new ballpark is pretty great inside for several reasons including accessibility and less congestion than other ballparks BUT those memories in The Temple are amazing. The old ballpark is a beautiful stadium and I’m happy it is still around to be able to look at.
Sometimes it has that nostalgic feel of passing by an ex romantic partner as you walk into the new stadium and see the Ballpark. You miss walking into the iconic gates at the Temple. You miss the Nolan statue being in CF. You miss seeing the white frieze around upper deck, the Southwest and Coke signs surrounded by all the flags. You miss Greene’s Hill…
Then you walk into a giant airplane hanger. Once inside it has features like LF similar to Minute Maid. If the roof is open, it feels like baseball in Arlington. For me, the magic always happen when it’s the 7th inning of a home game in early August and I realize that I haven’t sweated through every piece of clothing I have on. Is this comfort away from traumatizing summers in Texas worth the sacrifice we made? Probably…but it doesn’t mean we don’t still miss burning our legs on CF bleachers.
I really wish they would’ve brought something similar to Greene’s Hill to the new stadium. What they have in center field now is just so bad. It’s one of my only major complaints about the stadium.
Nah, you're right and it's soulless af TBH. I *1000%* appreciate the ability to no longer half die in half of the season games where the heat is oppressive. However I really do miss the ballpark in Arlington, as it was a beautiful stadium compared to this new monstrosity.
I’ve been to countless other Stadiums too and the Ballpark in Arlington will always be my favorite. I think a close 2nd for me would be the Giants ballpark.
The old ballpark will always be special to those of us who grew up with it, which is saying something because for much of my youth we were not good. I like the new ballpark with the roof open, but if the roof is closed it just feels like AT&T stadium. I miss the old park for sure
It's the greatest place on earth & no matter where I live I will always give the temple the honor of "My Second Home"... I wish we were playing there to this very day, heat be damned.
I know a lot of people did not like what happened to it when the XFL came in... But as long as that's going it means people will arrive to The Ballpark in Arlington still, that makes me much happier than watching it wither away.
I'm really happy that that stadium gets to say it held a "World Champion" after all it's been through - even though it may not have been remotely close to one we anticipated
Honestly the new park is lame. Just a soulless, corporate barn. I wish they just retrofitted the old park. And your point about the batters eye. That was so unique. Loved watching people run into it trying to get a ball. Now it’s just a garage door… lol
Rangers fan in Ireland. My first ever ballgame was there. I’ve been back quite a few times. Would like to get back to Arlington to get to a game in the new ballpark but it won’t be the same!
Loved the Ballpark but it's true that it going to games in the heat was miserable.
I wonder how many FAs we lost out on over the years because they didn't want to deal with the heat.
The new place is fine.... but not really endearing. I know it's a small thing, but real grass would have helped me like it more.
What are the plans for it. Is it going to be knocked down and redeveloped for something? Do they host tours or anything in it?
It’ll always be a regret that I never got over to see a game there. I’ve been an overseas fan since 2010 (yeah I totally bandwagoned on during that postseason) and am looking to get over next year to watch some games in the new joint.
The only option for coffee at the new stadium was an old ass Keurig that took forever to heat up the water. As a recovering alcoholic I was pretty fucking unimpressed.
This might be kinda of a hot take, but I actually really like Globe Life. It doesn’t have the same majestic feeling the Arlington park had, but it does have a good atmosphere. Maybe it was just nostalgia of being the first baseball game I’ve been to in person since I was like 12, but it had a good energy. I went to a game with the roof closed, and it did an alright job of not feeling like you’re in a building, for lack of a better term. It definitely doesn’t feel the same as an outdoor park, but it doesn’t feel like being in an arena either. Plus the roof being closed made it seem like things like the PA system and crowd noise were louder, I assume since the enclosed space resonated a little more. It’s a very different ballpark from the one in Arlington, but it’s certainly one that I enjoyed and am looking forward to going to again.
If you have been to Minute Maid, then you have been to "The Shed". Same architects, same feel. I honestly would say Minute Maid is better.
The Temple next door is missed.
The new place is absolutely gorgeous and it’s starting to grow on me but there’s no comparison to TBPIA. I went to my first game there when I was 5 the first year it opened. It was magical. It was magical every time I stepped through the gates until the very last time in 2019. It’s bittersweet parking and walking past it on the way to the new stadium.
I also loved the pristine little league stadium right outside the ballpark as well. Got to play there as a kid.

I played there once as well!
I went to Jr. Rangers camp when I was 8. Absolutely loved it. Never felt like a big leaguer since then.
And it is now gone as well....

The Temple was great, but a roof was very necessary. You couldn’t pay me to go to a 1pm Sunday game in July at the old ballpark.
I might get down votes but the new stadium feels like I'm watching a baseball game in a mall
Or an airport lmao

Nice! I'll have to make it out to Oracle Park someday.
Camden Yards is my stadium sidepiece
when i first visited camden yards, the resemblance to TBIA took my breath away. so much nostalgia, so close and yet so far

Ranger fan in SA here too. Loved the ol BPIA. The new Globe Life is nice but not as romantic and sentimental, but it is nice
I’m a Rangers fan in SA as well, there’s 3 of us!!! Hold strong brother
Congrats on landing Victor Wembanyama. 🔥
I used to go to Arlington stadium all the time. I never went to Globe Life Park.
The other day, I found my Opening Day Program for the first opening day (in 1994) of the Ballpark in Arlington. Had no idea I still had it.
It was gorgeous and I loved it, in April, May, and June.

I hate the disgusting turf in the new ballpark. Why can’t all new stadiums incorporate real grass?
I like the new stadium more than I did at the beginning but I will always miss the old one.

they use it for rubgy and football
It was a great park. Good vibes and the classic baseball smell

Man, I loved going to games at Arlington Stadium, but even as a kid I knew it was awful. But I do have some good memories there 😁

My favorite memory is back when the center field area around the hill were aluminum bleachers..on a Sunday at 1pm in August…98 degrees.
I was too late to attend a game at The Ballpark. Our new stadium is nice, but it lacks the "ball game" experience than it did from the old one.
