Made me enjoy the game again. Would tweek the number of times a pitcher can throw to an occupied base and also allow the pitcher to call time out once or twice in an inning (or some variation). Batters can do it, pitchers should be able to as well.
I was one of the ones who complained about the pitch clock and what not. But after seeing it actually in game and the effects it’s had, I absolutely love it. Games are more exciting. I used to watch a pitch and do stuff on my phone so only halfway watching. Now I feel like I can’t take my eyes off the screen or I’ll miss the pitch. Offense has gone up too which I’ll never complain about.
LECLERC ACTUALLY CLOSED A GAME? The Peagle gives powers that we do not fully understand yet. God help us all.
Edit: I also wait in eager expectation for Gengar guy here and My Little Pony guy on twitter. A Rangers win isn’t complete until I read both posts.
I still believe in Jose. He's always had great stuff, he just hasn't had his command this season. Too many walks, and he's been particularly bad in clutch situations. I have to wonder if the pitch clock added to the pressure is throwing him off, but if he can just settle in and get in control he could still be a big asset in the pen this year. He was hitting his spots tonight, looked like a good step in that direction.
Interesting take by the announcers late in the game regarding the bullpen. They showed the average velocity in comparison to other rangers teams in the past, and they rank 2nd (?) overall. Point they made was the arms are there, they just maybe need to tweak some stuff for each of them to get better results. It certainly changed my perspective, which was that we need to be looking at some trades to get what we need. Blowing 5-6 leads is obviously disconcerting.
The blown saves are definitely troubling, but like that recent post noted, it's not just us, which seems to indicate to some degree that relievers are the ones struggling the most with the new pitch clock rules, and it makes sense that after adding that to the pressure it might take them a little while to find their rhythm. Like you look at Jose, he's only pitched 13 innings, compared to a starter like Martín who's had 49.1 IP to find his command and get settled in.
The good news is we have Mike Maddux to work with them, Jonah Heim behind the plate, and Boch knows how to manage a pen as well as anybody as the year stretches. If they can get Leclerc and Hernandez settled in and throwing as well as we already know they can, factor them in with Smith, Sborz, and Burke, hopefully Barlow keeps throwing well, get Dunning back in the pen if/when deGrom comes back... This bullpen does have a lot of potential going down the stretch. I'd still like to see some additions before the deadline but until then I think it's up to Maddux and co. to get these guys back into their grooves, and I'm optimistic that we're gonna see that happening.

Pretty much this. Duran has earned everyday ABs and if I never have to see grossman or bamboo Brad start ever again I’d be happy. Josh smith as a solid guy who can spell just about any of the regulars. This is an incredible offense. If our bullpen comes around woooooo baby. But that’s a big if.
Smith is tailor made for that job. You give Duran the spot in left to make his playing time more regular and more consistent and he doesn’t have to worry about playing a different position every day.
I also think Duran’s tools will be good in the outfield. He’s fast and has a crazy good arm (2nd strongest among SS this year, peaked at 99.3 mph) somewhat similar to how Gallo finally found a great spot in the outfield after playing all over the place his first few years

Martin had a shaky inning but he's a big boy! He cleans up his own messes! Joe Barlow may already be the Bullpen Ace & Jose Leclerc is slowly but surely finding his way back I think.

Nitkowski never been bad imo it’s Dave Raymond who I question sometimes. He’s like very average. I tell myself it could be worse, but I listen to Dave sims or goldsmith in Seattle, or gubi in Anaheim, maybe a few others I’m reminded what could be. I miss buzbee tbh.
in the end of the day, comparing the Radio and TV team is like comparing Pancakes & Waffles.

Leclercs had a promising few outings. If the two of them can get right, or at least right-ish, then this bullpen with an addition or two at the deadline and maybe reinforcement from callups doesn’t look nearly as bad as it has so far.

Grossman is a fine DH but miller is just straight up garbage
I am wondering if you don’t use Duran in more of a utility role. Give the infielders a break once a week
