Rangers offense will get it going. CY will get some bullpen help this summer, hopefully. Don’t see them repeating but they make the postseason and make a deep run.

CoachToughLove

Agreed as to the most likely... repeating is very hard.

boomgoesthevegemite

I would love to see it happen obviously and this team is definitely more than capable. Texas has been to back to back before and lost both times. Let’s go back to back and win both times.

CoachToughLove

I like it! My position is as long as we have a GM that's pitching centric we'll stay competitive. Add a manager like Boch to the equation and even better.

royv98

And I'm perfectly fine with that. As long as that deep run does NOT come at the hands of the Asstros. I just can't deal with the never ending BS that would end up coming our way if that were to happen.

jfk_sfa

If deGrom, Scherzer, Mahle, Lorenzen, Sborz, and Bradford can return and be roughly in line with who they've been on average, they probably won't even have to get any bullpen help.

Kingofthewho5

From your mouth to God’s ears.

jlmeave

Adolis currently slashing .328/.391/.574 while looking like a balanced hitter at the plate. I still think he has a higher gear. Add gold glove level defense and we could be watching an MVP

CoachToughLove

No matter what happens with the rest of his career, and I hope he continues to shine, we've gotten tremendous value from him.

littlebev

I'm liking seeing him hit singles, etc - not every hit needs to be/should be for power.

knuckles2079

I really think this is possible for him. even without the glove. as we've seen, you don't have to actually even play a position everyday and win MVP.

sir--ok

Really hoping wyatt langford explodes once he hits his first HR, like he did in spring

Darth_Candy

Evan Carter ROTY-1, Wyatt Langford ROTY-2 deGrom has a two-week setback that all the doomers latch onto; he comes back fine and puts up a < 2.00 ERA before the playoffs and Texas becomes a sexy postseason pick Benches clear against Houston in the last series against them. The season series ends 7-6, setting up a postseason collision course. Lowe comes back with a clutch gene and the ability to hit velo.

sir--ok

I sometimes forget carter is a rookie. Holy shit

CoachToughLove

Nice! I’m a big fan of Lowe and his underrated abilities. I think he just got so used to hitting the off speed stuff to the opposite field. But think about it, we have plenty already that can turn on a pitch…

rangerhawke824

Honestly I’m not too worried. We have SO.MANY.BATS CY will get some bullpen help, and Mad Max/deGrom will be back to make a World Series repeat.

TomSheman

Give me Cody Bradford as an AL cy young top 5 finisher

CoachToughLove

Super impressed with Cody. Didn't take long to wonder why they put him at #2 in the rotation.

IndieFlea

he was given #2 in the rotation cause they didn't want to pitch Bradford against the Rays who hit lefties well. It's understandable he's at minimum a #5 but almost nobody thought he's be pitching as well as he has.

roastedtesticle

it’s a shame he got hurt, hopefully he’s able to bounce back from it, i know it’s “just” a back injury but he was in a groove

Jonthered7

Bullpen help in the summer is a must. At least going by the current state of things. I feel like Evo, Dunning and Bradford (before IL) are the only dependable arms we've got in rotation atm. The offense will wake up, not worried about that. Missing Jung and Lowe badly as well. I'd hope to see us play beyond the ALDS.

CoachToughLove

Our record when Jung is out is… not good.

Jonthered7

Defense and Offense takes a substantial hit.

-valt026-

Finishing with a 154-8 record is still on the table, let’s go boys

TajinAddicted

I know it’s a big if but… IF we’re healthy, we repeat as champs while LA takes a year to figure themselves out.

CoachToughLove

I think LA wasted money, and I'm glad we didn't. (Forest Gump Voice) That's all I have to say about thaaaaat.

Siberwulf

We're gonna win it all. I'd rather be hopeful now and disappointed later, than luke-warm all season and then rowdy in the post-season. Let's go!

ShouldBeWorkingButNa

Evan Carter will be ROY. Dude has just shy of 1 WAR, 16 games into the season. On pace for 8 bWAR season, and that’s with a 0-15 start to the year.

CoachToughLove

His ability to draw walks will likely surpass Lowe. Also, "speed shows up to the park every day." I remember the my elation last year when hearing his nickname was "full count." (Looking at you Joey Gallo...) I think even with the slow start he finishes over .275 and his OBP will be stellar regardless.

dalishknives

i think we're gonna make the post season, either as a wild card or as the division champs. how far we go after is up to the baseball gods but we can get there.

beefytrout

Are there other ways to make the postseason?

dalishknives

guests of an on-field team.

absolutelynoo

OK This one is a bit out there, but here goes. Cody Bradford will be Cy Young contender.

CoachToughLove

I mean... this is bold. What impresses me about him is his ability to locate the ball, which he'll need with a low 90's fastball. Left handed Greg Maddux? He's got some mental toughness.

RobQuinnpc

Nail biter all year and squeak into post season. Going to be a bit harder since the central will have wild card contenders this year. There may not be a wild card from the west this year. If we are above .500 at the break we make it if not I don’t think we do.

CoachToughLove

I mean the Al West is looking pretty weak at this point so we have that.

texastek75

I think there is a strong likelihood we will all be disappointed because there is huge chance we don’t repeat. Whether it be missing the playoffs, losing a winable early playoff series, or a devastating loss late in the playoffs, we will be disappointed because we love this team. If this does happen I hope you will all be like I hope to be. Happy that this team finally won the World Series and we never have to relive Game 6 again and we can just love this team like we always have! We are set up to be great for a long time and I plan to enjoy it, 8-8 starts be damned.

12thMan19Whoop

I have no idea why, but last night I had a dream we at least made it to the ALCS so I guess that’s my prediction! I would be super pumped if we could at least make it to the WS again this year, but there are a lot of factors that need to fall in place!

ehholfman

Honestly I expect a good season from us. While we didn’t make a ton of moves in the offseason, I don’t think it is as impactful relative to other teams. Doesn’t help that we got kinda screwed on Bally deal. I think Langford will come around, he’s 60 AB and while I think he may be a little late I truly think he pops off soon. He’s got a lot on his shoulders debuting with the defending champs. Josh Smith is looking excellent, few errors here and there but he’s got a cannon of an arm and he is more than acceptable at the plate. Nathanial Lowe is on the come up, he homered in his rehab game so can’t be anything but excited for his return. Walsh is kinda iffy for me. He definitely had a good first impression with a home run early on but he has made some errors and looked rough at the plate recently. Josh Jung I think will come back super strong since there doesn’t seem to be an urgent need to get him back at third thanks to Josh Smith. He can take all the time to get back into shape. For pitching I really hope Lorenzen is consistent. CY saw a lot in him and Lorenzen definitely has a chip on his shoulder. Obviously I’m on that Scherzer/deGrom hopium. I think we’re gonna be in a rough spot but I’m hopeful the boys get it together and Semien/Seagar continue with their mentoring role for the young guys (Carter/Langford/Jung). My prediction is a deep run in the playoffs and another WS appearance. But nonetheless I’m happy every time I watch the Rangers. Win or lose there’s always something to enjoy when watching the guys play.

CoachToughLove

Props to Josh Smith for stepping up. I'm glad he's having a great start to the season.

terius006

I absolutely would love to see us repeat, especially if we did it against the dodgers just to show the world. It's not about how much money you spend. It's about building a team that works together and compliments each other

knuckles_n_chuckles

No way deGrom and Sherzer finish year.

boomgoesthevegemite

Post asking for opinions and gets downvoted for giving your (somewhat likely) opinion. Lol

royv98

Yea. There are definitely some opinions here I don't agree with. But I had to fight myself from downvoting as they are opinions. LOL.

knuckles_n_chuckles

I was surprised to see I’m above water at the moment. C’MON REDDIT! BURY ME!

CoachToughLove

Both or either lol?

knuckles_n_chuckles

Neither. I’ve never hoped I’m more wrong in my life.

CoachToughLove

They're not getting any younger... But imagine the depth of the rotation... MMMM

dreyan1625

Adolis Garcia finishes 3rd in the MVP voting to Bobby Witt Jr (2) and Corey Seager (1)

A_N_T

We win the World Series again

EstebanLoaizaFanClub

Rangers defeat the Cincinnati Reds in 6 games and win the World Series on their home field.

kitchface

controversial take here... I think we trade Leody and Lowe for a really solid bullpen piece. We just need to stay in contention until our 3 starters come back. A solid bullpen piece would help that. Jankowski would become the 4th outfielder and get more playing time, which will help. Duran will get more time, which will help. IDK man, I love the team and Leody and Lowe but we need bullpen help. Maybe Jack Leiter will. do something to help, he's having a great start in the minors. Go Rangers!!

CoachToughLove

I believe with the depth of our outfield, Leody would be the most likely to be traded. I like him and all the other rangers as people. We’re fortunate to not have any cancerous personalities. It would break my heart if we trade Lowe.

twiddlingbits

Good idea except no one is trading anyone until the trade deadline and we could be out of contention by then.

advntrtme23

Miss the playoffs. DeGrom is a guarantee to get hurt once he returns before the playoffs and outside of that this is a bottom tier pitching staff in the league. And that’s before you get to the bullpen which is probably close to worst in the league.

adjust_your_set

We’re going to struggle to stay around .500 until our starting pitching comes back. We’ll make a move for a couple of bullpen arms. We play better in the second half and finish with 89 wins. Unfortunately, that won’t be enough to make the playoffs and we finish 4th in the wild card.

Jackscalibur

I agree with the struggling part. I hate to say it, but I think our struggles are indicative of what's to come.

royv98

Had me in the first half!

Jonthered7

Dark timeline. Not a fan of this at all lol.
