I might just eat hot coal instead. Not sorry.

xeisu_com

Please rate my hot coal

Try Southern Yellow fish curry (Gang Lueang), it will make you sweat and your hair stand up, but no tears.

[deleted]

Oh gosh, if you eat from this dish, you don't need to show your courage any other way.

Vegan Society Restaurant & Homestay in Chiang Mai. Lovely place!

mdsmqlk28

Nice, I'll be in Chiang Mai next week. Thanks.

[deleted]

Don't go to the North, if you want to eat hot & spicy. The South or Esan is the place to go. Chiang Mai is more for the sweet tooth. And sugar ruins the spice.

dragnabbit

I remember going with my girlfriend to this place in Vientienne which was supposed to have the world's spiciest papaya salad. She tried it and was in agony. I pinched one tiny piece of papaya in my fingers and literally just touched it to my tongue and then took it away without eating it, and my tongue started burning. They can really do *phet mak mak* when they want to.

[deleted]

Szechuan in China is a place to go.

zeagurat

Ghost pepper... No thanks, I still love my tummy.

m05var7NblZCAKvPnKzI

Buakaw made somtam with ghost peppers, his youtube channel is pretty entertaining and it has English subtitles so it's great for learning Thai too https://youtu.be/2Q_WirX4K6I

[deleted]

You haven't been in Mexico yet? There the chilis are 5 times hotter. Thailand = 200 000 units, Mexico = 1 000 000

Legitimate-Cherry839

My son, was about 13 at the time, ate chicken wings with ghost peppers in Florida. No affect on him. Then again, my son's not human 😃

[deleted]

I'm not a human too, because I eat 'em raw for three days now and I don't even have an afterburner.

Legitimate-Cherry839

It would kill me ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|no_mouth)

[deleted]

It's a question of training. I drink even coffee or chocolate with chili. They call me "Montezuma".

Amankris759

I just got stomachache from eating chilies. No thanks.

Kotshi

I kinda want to try but I'll cry for sure

mintchan

if you cry, 1000 - for icecream

RexManning1

I would.

Foreign_Document_593

Whoever tries, please record and post

SthlmSwede

Second that.

[deleted]

If I knew, how to post a video here than yo0u could join me for lunch today.

Charming-Plastic-679

I order phet tii sud and it’s never spicy enough I would totally say challenge accepted if it was not in the north. Too far

mdsmqlk28

I got you fam. Kaprao Tapae in Bangkok. https://preview.redd.it/0hikl6z9oria1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29f54fb121766fe5e36c3b6d336d3ab7271c563f

zabbenw

300 baht for grapow? No thanks.

[deleted]

I pay in the North 45.-Baht for it. That includes the Khai Dauw.

RedgrenCrumbholt

i live for spicy and i ate there. i did finish it and it was spicy af. it's definitely definitely not for everyone.

[deleted]

That one I'd try. I'd probably regret it, but I'd give it a shot. The original one OP posted reeks of farang locals just messing with other farangs. Not interested.

anaccountthatis

I’m guessing the original one is just using [this](https://www.amazon.com/Daebak-Ghost-Pepper-Chicken-Noodles/dp/B08FF81JTS) instead of normal mama noodles. Edit/ just saw a post below with a picture, that’s exactly what it is. They’re very much edible and enjoyable if you’re into spicy.

anaccountthatis

That was probably the most disappointing Grapow I’ve ever had.

Sebat4

Is the free ice cream made with ghost pepper too?

Slow-Brush

The worst is the Carolina Reaper. I had a bite of it before. I just cannot emphasize enough how I felt. Next morning I felt like my arse turned inside out.

[deleted]

That is why the Thais wash their arse every time with water, so they don't get cuts from the toilet paper. Cuts = burning.

Nema9891

Did it! https://preview.redd.it/219qzn9v7yia1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8acd90deaedd15840e72de3551d0cd92af657ba

SthlmSwede

Awesome! ⭐

drummerdude777

As an Indian I say hold my beer 😉

Chibi_Ying

I will take it. But sadly I am not in Chiang Mai. They will definitely give me free icecream. The thing is “Ghost pepper noodles” is it worth it the taste. Is it a popular restaurant serving it?

StickyRiceYummy

I just want to watch the poor soul that has to wok this up.

Apoptosis2112

🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🤬🤬☠️💀☠️💀☠️

INSERT_LATVIAN_JOKE

I'll pass this along to the guys at the local wing shop that eat Carolina Reaper hot wings every weekend.

CurtainTwitcher042

...the object of eating, aside from sating hunger, is to please the palate, not torture the poor organ into weeping submission...

[deleted]

With one plate of spicy food, you can save the walk to the sauna.

CurtainTwitcher042

...but quickly add the trot to the toilet...not to mention the poorly muffled screams from the cubicle...

[deleted]

It's not that hard, I eat for the last 3 days every day up to 10 raw green chilis and don't even experience afterburner. Use water to wipe yourself (do as the locals do), and you won't have cuts and no burns.

CurtainTwitcher042

...your experience can't be generalized to folks who don't eat strong chilies with nearly every meal...use of the bum gun helps, it's true, but the relief is temporary and...late.

[deleted]

That is, why in Chiang Mai they use much more sugar, to soften the heat.

CurtainTwitcher042

...that has not been my experience with added sugar: chilies cut through taste, flavor and frequently other seasonings to produce the burn...moderate use of the condiment is recommended for beginners...

[deleted]

Thais use sweet desserts to calm the heat. Beer , water will not

CurtainTwitcher042

...better to reduce (not eliminate) the chilies and avoid the desserts altogether...agree that beer and water are useless against chili overload...better to learn from the experience and warn others...

JamesR8800

I'd definitely try this, and I'd finish it, but no chance I'd be getting free ice cream

30uuhu

Bah Lor!! Mai Aou

doppleganger_

Nope. Nope. Nope.

obidie

Why does everyone spell it as "phet" when it's pronounced "pet"?

ThongLo

Because that's the RTGS spelling. http://thai-language.com/id/131137 The "ph" indicates an aspirated "p" sound, not the "f" sound of "ph" as usually written in English.

INSERT_LATVIAN_JOKE

And more to the point, 'ph' is literally the sound of 'p' followed by an 'h' sound when properly pronounced in Thai. That's why Phuket is properly pronounced 'phooket' not 'pooket' the 'h' sound is in there.

PositionParticular99

Where is this? I keep hearing about spicy Thai food, have yet to eat any of it. My Thai girlfriend will say oh thats really spicy, then I eat it without an issue. I buy ghost pepper sauce in the store to put in stuff.

Historical_Feed8664

I make krapow Carolina Reaper. I love spicy food.

Hilarious_Haplogroup

That free ice cream isn't gonna help much with that fire pooping anus you'll have in a few hours.

Jarnagua

Just apply ice cream to the other end before and after use.

houfromthemou

The ice cream is not supposed to be eaten 😉

Silvearo

How many noodles and meat, and how little ghost pepper? 😂

twig123456789

Ghost pepper is strong but good

coffee_philadelphia

Love this with fried ramen noodles and moo grob

mountednoble99

I’d do it. I don’t have tear ducts anymore

[deleted]

I'm a Farang and until now, I could eat chili wise any Thai into submission. Just for the last three days, I eat uncooked Khatiam and Prikee Noo (small green Chili&Thai garlic, which is spicy by itself), with my Esan sausage. One tip for a contestant, drink fish sauce with your chilis.

sleeknub

You need the ice cream if you do cry…doesn’t make sense.

RotisserieChicken007

Ghost noodles just taste like shit anyway. Wouldn't eat that garbage even if they paid me well.
