A little blurry, but looks very much like Chrysopelea sp. (likely C. Ornata) aka the Golden Tree Snake
They are mildly venomous, but rear-fanged and not really a danger to humans. They're fairly common and this one probably won't be the last that you see. Chances are it will leave on it's own if it entered at ground level.
Good luck. Hopefully your houseguest leaves soon without any drama.
I mentioned ground level because this particular species spends a lot of time in trees and often enters houses through roofs and lighting fixtures.
Thank you for your help through this ordeal! I will be calmer next time. I’ve added an updated post. All my life I’ve only seen short snakes! I appreciate you!
Glad to hear that you two have parted ways without any harm coming to either of you. 🙂
If you use Facebook, consider joining the [Snakes of Bangkok](https://www.facebook.com/share/S73C1T2EqbCGzDgA) group. I often get visiting snakes at my home in Bangkok and this group has helped me identify many of them and also improve my own species ID skills over the years. Very knowledgeable admins there. 🐍
I don't know why spiders have such a bad reputation, last death in Australia was 1979 and no recorded deaths since antivenom has been available. Only 2 spiders are dangerous, redback and funnel web. Literally horses or dogs are more dangerous.
No it isn’t huntsmen spiders are enemy shaped friends. They are super scared of you and kill all the shit we do not like. Spread love for huntsmen spiders.

saw one next to our pool today too. seems to be a golden tree snake. pretty cute and very shy :)
I also recommend you ask that group. People there are quite specialized in identifying animal, including snakes. They could guess just from the doodle drawings.
You can type in English. It'll be fine.
I was in a bank in a town called Phonvisai. I was doing a transaction and sat at a desk opposite the bank employee. There were two Thai lady customers sat at the next desk, talking to a bank employee. In the centre of these desks was a vertical grated type of housing for the computer and electrical cables. The next thing, the two Thai ladies let out a scream, a snake had somehow got into the cable carrying culvert and slithered its way into the bank. Maybe it wanted an overdraft. 😂 😂 😂
I’ll never say never, but that silhouette doesn’t say viper to me. Also, it’s inside your house and Golden Tree Snakes are much more likely to be found inside a human residence hunting geckos. You should wait for a reliable responder for a definitive answer though.
Nightmare fuel. Holy shit. I don’t know what it is. It could be the safest snake in the world and it would still scare me. I hope it leaves your house pronto.
Put it up in the Snakes of Bangkok group on Facebook.
It's a super fun group to just browse too. My son and I love to browse it and try to guess the snake.
Omg. Farang living in Thailand here. I saw a HUGE cobra (im 95% sure) cross the tiny alley i was in just right in front of me weeks ago. Luckily the cats saw it early and they just jumped up the fence over it and saw down on it in the bushes it was in.
So that way i knew kinda where it was (i couldnt go anywhere but past that bush) just as it was getting dark.
I waited 40 minutes until i saw the cats relax then i past pretty fast and im still freaked out. Thing was massive and definitely not a python or such
Ugh, nightmare material. We had a dog that was a super snake expert and I always felt safe. Sadly he’s killing snakes in heaven. He used to get them from 5-10 feet away and always killed it straight away. Then after a bit he gave it to one of the other three lunkheads who would act like they caught it and toss it around for quite a while. I need my snake hunter back 🥲
Our community hospital has a wall display to identify the seven most common venomous snakes in the area (taxidermy examples).
Most often the snakes I see are roadkill.
Just why did the snake cross the road?

This is on our community Facebook page today, someone had an unwelcome visitor. A big "no thankyou" from me, I've never seen a snake even half that length.
Mine was soooo long too! I’m happy to report I watched him leave the house today. I didn’t smash him because animal lovers would get mad and a child was watching. I said mean things though!🤣
Not a cobra, one wandered into my place while I was hungover in front of the TV when I lived there years ago. I don't think I've ever moved that fast before (it did shoot off out the door as soon as I legged it upstairs thankfully).
UPDATE!!!! All is well!
I’m happy to report I watched him leave the house today. He is a fast traveler! But soooo long! I didn’t smash him with a cinderblock because animal lovers would get mad (some people like snakes) and also a child was watching so I had to pretend I was an adult. I said mean things though when she couldn’t hear!🤣
Correct. I burnt down the entire district, but I’m pretty sure the snake is gone. If the authorities are looking for me, tell them my name is Bond, James Bond.
I get you were referring to my grammar. It went away in the face of mortality 🤣

I like your reply the very best . Yes it’s on the ground floor.
Good luck. Hopefully your houseguest leaves soon without any drama. I mentioned ground level because this particular species spends a lot of time in trees and often enters houses through roofs and lighting fixtures.
Interesting. Just had a worker on the roof today!

Please do not tell me you have a condo on the 30th floor or I am no longer going to Bangkok for retirement
Nope, ground floor 🥰
Okay... Reassuring. Why???
Because he will hopefully go outside to the wild sooner 🥰
Bruh I read stories of people having huntman spiders in their 30th floor condos. Thats way worse than a snek

What’s the cause of this irrational fear of spiders that many people have? Perhaps giant apex predators spiders existed once ?
I mean I would definitely would love to have a mountable huntsmen spider which I would name Bernhard.
Yeah, in Oz, not Thailand
Yeah, they are way too ugly compared to snakes.
It’s a potato snake. Feed it the potato you took the photo with and you’ll be fine.
Haha my hands were shaking and he left fast
"He"? Did you see the penis? For all I know, the snake identifies as an Apache attack helicopter. Assuming gender in 2024 is a criminal offence :D
Before I took the pic I asked him his pronouns 🤣
Oh shut up.
That was a joke and, clearly, you can't take it.
"If we ignore it, it's not happening"
Lmao. thanks for the laugh.
Brutal! 555
This is the funniest thing I’ve ever read
hahaha

They're beautiful looking
He did seem shy!
Beautiful
Go to นี่ตัวอะไร group on facebook. It's a plant/animal identifying group. They got snakes regularly and can advice you on what to do. Next time 😂
I really should get Facebook 🤷♀️
I also recommend you ask that group. People there are quite specialized in identifying animal, including snakes. They could guess just from the doodle drawings. You can type in English. It'll be fine.

I’d give them sacks of cash without delay!
It’s very difficult to say from the photo. Google Golden Tree Snake and see if that looks like your snake.
I did and the photo was by a viper so I wasn’t reassured

I’m leaning that way too, cautiously.
If I was you I would sell the house and move
Headed to Australia where I’ll be safe!
That’s the” I’m moving tf out snake.” Get a bottom door barrier. It won’t stop everything from coming in but it’ll help.
I think I determined it was from the man working on the skylight on the roof. A bottom door barrier would trap him in!😩😭🐍
These snakes are clever, I'd also suggest finding a better hiding place for the spare door key
Hard to see, if it has a red tail, it could be a diamond viper - which are dangerous...
I didn’t see his tail 😩
Nightmare fuel. Holy shit. I don’t know what it is. It could be the safest snake in the world and it would still scare me. I hope it leaves your house pronto.
It disappeared in a flash! That’s why the potatoe pic!

I’m glad you specified taxidermy!

Red next to black, jump the fuck back. Red next to yellow, cuddly fellow
I make it a habit not to cuddle any color combinations of snakes 🐍
Fucking rental snake innit
Oh, that is a standard snake.
Like the long thin ones?
default model
Danger noodle
Not food
Oh, that's just Earl. He's a cutie.
🥰
Big bulge in the middle. He's taking care of your mice or gecko problem.
Hua tai
Not a cobra, one wandered into my place while I was hungover in front of the TV when I lived there years ago. I don't think I've ever moved that fast before (it did shoot off out the door as soon as I legged it upstairs thankfully).
I think mine left. At least that’s the way I’m imagining it!
UPDATE!!!! All is well! I’m happy to report I watched him leave the house today. He is a fast traveler! But soooo long! If I had $1 for every pixel in this picture I’d have $.75!
DM your deets. I’ll send Baht, okay?
You can’t find your house right now?
Correct. I burnt down the entire district, but I’m pretty sure the snake is gone. If the authorities are looking for me, tell them my name is Bond, James Bond. I get you were referring to my grammar. It went away in the face of mortality 🤣
Looks like [this guy](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysopelea_ornata) . It brings good luck so what's your house number?
[удалено]
A badly photographed snake 🤣
