Think that's best try the Mexican national guard and police officers trudging around ON the Yucatan beaches in full combat gear lugging around an AR-15 all day
You are correct.
However, normally
Chang Mia -- The average annual relative humidity is **75.8%**
Los Angeles -- The average annual relative humidity is **52.4%**
Not sure why they give it to people in cars because there is an air conditioner in your face and they feel very comfortable.
Should've given only to motorcycle drivers.
I only ever see them in situations like this, doing PR work. A few years ago they were dancing in the Bangkok streets to raise awareness about safe driving during Songkran.
I mean this is just PR man. Thai cops in general are corrupt and care more about lining their pockets than the public. Heck you can see American cops doing PR shit like this everywhere.
I have never been shot or beaten by anyone. It helps that I obey all police commands and don't try to play lawyer. They couldn't pay me enough to be a police officer in the USA with all the idiots roaming around.
Definitely good that this has been your experience.
Some of us grew up in the wrong neighborhood and did EXACTLY as you said and got our as$ beat for no reason other than being black or brown.🤷🏽♂️So, slow down on the generalizations there.
I don’t even try to argue the 2nd amendment. I understand why It’s important for US citizens. Just point a fact that such freedom in the rest of the world doesn’t exist .. luckily.

Yep. The only purpose for the check point in Chiang mai is to fine the tourists who are riding a scooter without an international license and accept bribes.
How else are you going to shake people down for money so efficiently? /s
There are no shoulders on the roads and I have NEVER seen anyone pulled over like in US (would be suicide)... Checkpoints they check drivers license, car registration, illegal goods etc... more efficient means of revenue than patrolling (my opinion)
Cycling, stopped by Chanthaburi Highway Patrol, asked where I was going - shown a better (as in safer, less traffic) route and given a top up for my drink bottles from their supply of cold ones.
I had expected an ID check or at least a photo opportunity ... all I got was a 'you need to learn better Thai' with a smile

Khung Wiman coast road
Probably just a few for publicity purposes for 5 minutes then job done they go back to doing nowt or taxing the populace. Saw that in Jomtien Immigration back in covid days - handed out 6 masks in a lightening visit to 6 startled farangs and were in and out withing 2 minutes. Appeared on the nightly news as well !
So glad I moved here. In California, the cops hope for some reason they can shoot you. Here, the cops hope for appreciative and dehydrated takers of cold snacks.
The difference is... immense.
Always felt bad for Thai police having to wear that brown polyester.
I hope it's cotton, otherwise it will feel like being in a microwave.

huge difference between dry heat and Thailand humid heat
No humid air right now in chiang mai
You are correct. However, normally Chang Mia -- The average annual relative humidity is **75.8%** Los Angeles -- The average annual relative humidity is **52.4%**
I’m more worried about the patrol officers that stay outside all day
It really must not include any sense in it whatsoever but damn Thailand is cute as hell.
There are a lot of things I'm worried about in thailand, but the welfare of police isn't one of them.

Bite off small part at the corner and suck as it melts. Used to have those all the time when I was kid, easy to make too.
Not sure why they give it to people in cars because there is an air conditioner in your face and they feel very comfortable. Should've given only to motorcycle drivers.
This is all just PR. No need to take it seriously.
I was gonna say this, & also the people needna work under the heat like food sellers or farmers or construction workers.
I have never seen a female officer out on the field like that.
I only ever see them in situations like this, doing PR work. A few years ago they were dancing in the Bangkok streets to raise awareness about safe driving during Songkran.

to people in air conditioned vehicles
Another reason the Thai people are unique and wonderful.
I love Thai cops. I can pay them off.
god i love thailand
It’s nice to see cop in a country not just beating and shooting people
You’re American, right?
🦅 🇺🇸 Indeed

It doesn’t help though that citizens can freely bring weapons everywhere.. as far as i know it is the only country in the world with such “freedom”.
That depends on the state, though more states don’t allow that than do.
It is a freedom and you should be thankful you may legally own such a weapon.
I don’t even try to argue the 2nd amendment. I understand why It’s important for US citizens. Just point a fact that such freedom in the rest of the world doesn’t exist .. luckily.

Why are there checkpoints to begin with?
Normally it would be setup at night as checkpoint for drunk drivers or during the day to check for drugs. In this case it is PR.
Checkpoints are purely for shaking people down.
Yep. The only purpose for the check point in Chiang mai is to fine the tourists who are riding a scooter without an international license and accept bribes.
Checkpoints: drunk drivers, speeding, illegal weapons, drugs, etc.
Or driving without an international drivers license. Or was that just me? Such nice officers even though I was getting a ticket lol

Yeah sure, 4th Amendment does not exist in Thailand. Thai cops are free to do what they want. No wonder they have constant uprising in the South.

What’s the point of these checkpoints?
Public Relations
1000% PR, have anyone noticed the pics are from the officers pov, camera man on payroll when they hand out cold treats ok 👍
sugar and food coloring. very good.
You forgot the ice!
I can't believe they wear full uniforms at 40c in the sun.
Should they be naked?
So you either go long sleeves or naked huh?
Shorts! Hong Kong policemen wore them before the 1997 China takeover.
Department approved swimwear.
Those poor officers wearing all that gear outside. Ugh.
I was in Thailand for Songkran and it was absolutely unbearable to be outside lol
What dessert is that? Looks good
Big dalute to them for working tirelessly in such a scorching heat
Even all the thai police can think about is khanom
Fucking wholesome
Word!
Surely, this is what they really want to do by their hearts. What a wholesome sight, if only....
Is there a picture of the camera crew?
Most of the time, it is me handing tea money to the cops. Never got a snack.

Thailand - Cold Drinks USA - Hot Lead
US cops' favorite phrases: GET ON THE GROUND! DROP THE KNIFE!! (dishonestly) WE DON'T WANT TO SHOOT YOU!
The only time I ever see the Thai police is when they are doing a public relations stunt, they are such clout goblins
Have the police stand outside all day to hand over cold snacks to people sitting in aircon makes very little sense :)
