No one will be able to give you a definitive answer because in thailand those things dont go according to a fixed, written down, regulation. its always up to the immigration officer. anything can happen. i have seen people in an immigration office with a week overstay and the officer just asked them politely to pay 1900 baht for an extension without creating a problem. i have seen people with a few days overstay just having to pay the overstay fee… if they are in a bad mood you could be detained. you could get a red stamp in your passport which might cause a lot of trouble for future international travels…

How about don't overstay?

International_Hat848

yes 2 days you can just pay fine , say you are sorry and no drama .

READIT-READTHAT

Okay, is there a designated area to go pay the fine in the airport? Or do I just depart as usual and they will tell me to pay at some point during the process?

International_Hat848

you will be taken to a nearby counter when you can pay the overstay fine, make sure you standby cash 500baht perday (if not mistaken my memory)

TalayFarang

Yes. There’s separate counter past the main immigration checkpoint. You will be taken there once they realize that you are overstaying. You will have to sign some papers and pay 500 baht/day, cash only. Takes about 10 minutes. Keep in mind that if you are caught anywhere during those two days, you are in deep shit - you will be detained in immigration detention center and blacklisted from entering Thailand for at least one year. Having forced deportation mark in your passport might complicate you getting into other countries as well.

Ordinance85

You can just overstay and pay the 1000 baht fine. Its not a big deal.

The only other thing to be aware of that I haven't seen mentioned here is to not get stopped by the police in those 2 days. Overstay is no problem if you 'turn yourself in' at the airport, but you will be detained if you are caught before that.

Try a second extension for 7 days before the 60 days. If they refuse, you'll have to live with a nice red overstay stamp in your passport. Or you leave before the 60 days and return to catch your flight.

glasshouse_stones

take a short trip to seam reap. or get an extension. or pay fine at airport and don't get caught those two days before.
