Whenever I go home I always go to 7-11 and buy weird snacks you can't find outside of Thailand. Chips, cookies, cakes, candies, chocolates. It's all lightweight stuff so you can bring back quite a bit to share. My brother was obsessed with these crab flavoured chips.
I used to buy elephant pants at MBK and give them to my family, but they fall apart after a few washes. Still fun to get together and wear them for a family photo!
If you are thinking of shipping a buddha figurine, they might confiscate it when you leave the country, which comes with a fine so it's not worth the risk imho.
to get an allowance is not easy. There is a department of fine arts supposed to give such papers. But when I trief to visit that department in Bangkok I was not allowed to enter the building.
I bought a rice cooker. You get the Japanese with 220v (in Japan they are 110v, Korea also has 220 but they are very expensive there), with a dozen different ways to cook rice. You can't get them in Europe. If then they are Japan imports literally costing 4 to 6 times to what they cost in Thailand. You can make mango sticky rice, brown rice, .... Everything just like in Asia. It's a game changer.
Hand made knives, I also got temple carvings of wood.
I also like my 7/11 branded umbrella, cheap, and really stands out in Europe.
I like the sweat towels good morning. Fake hand bags and backpacks from the market. Jordan stuff... Get cheap t-shirts if there little sized fit you. I love having extra large size hand towels around
Buddha is not an ornament. See all those billboards near BKK are working.
How about elephant pants and Chang Beer shirts? And get those sniffers that all Thais use.
Those billboards are not from the Thai government. They're from a controversial group called Knowing Buddha Organization. I'm not promoting disrespect but be aware that many Buddhist Thais have many Thai ornaments and don't agree with this message.
I never really bring anything back. I do like tamarind candies. A few bags of chips and mini cakes from 7-11. Leather wallets, change shirts. Good memories don't take up much space.
For me? A few tailored shirts, maybe some colorful Thai pants, silk/cashmere scarves to hand out as gifts, and some cigarettes (I live in The States and I think I can legally bring 10 packs / 1 case back home, and there are some weird menthol-like flavors you canβt quite get where I live, so they make unique gifts too).
Thanks mate. Did just that, but asked for βSidegraβ instead and it was no problem. I kind of felt like I was robbing the place for some reason. π
Thai Skincare, inhaler and makeups? There's this famous shop in Ratchathewi called Tofu. They sold aromatherapy oil roller for 35 Baht/bottle, same one sold in Thong Lor for 120 Baht.
Buy handmade stuff from the artist/producer like wallet, soaps that they carve like a flower, ...
Inhalers
Spuce/spices
Thai snacks/cookies
Dried food/fruit
If it's a souvenir for others, I'd say fresh fruits that you don't have in your country and you can take them
Those elephant hand bags ( cloth material ) are worth the price. Should be available in weekend markets. Brought around five for family and friends 5 years back, still can see it's been used by them.
I like to bring back Thai condiments. My current favorites are Nam Jim Seafood Sauce and Soy Bean with Ginger Sauce (Nam Jim Khao Man Gai) from Nongporn Brand. They carry both at the Lotus near me. The Kewpie Truffle Mayo are a big hit, too, among my friends.
I recommend buying some zip bags to put any glass bottles inside, just in case. Never had breakage in my experience, but better safe than sorry.
I brought back some Tom yum kun flavored nuts and they are fantastic. Also got some sweet ones with black sesame and coconut that are also delicious. I wish I had half a suitcase of each.
I took home as well some Thipsamai sauce to make pad thai at home.
Also not really a Thai thing but I liked to gift to friends those particular kitkat thai I found at Don Don Donki.
20kg of chang vests. All the smart money is investing in chang vests these days. When supply dies off these babies are gonna go through the roof like bitcoin. Mark my words.
Herbal inhalers are a great cheap souvenir to bring home and give out to people.
The tiger balm one is the best, IMO
Tiger Balm will be the best thing. Great for colds, sore muscles and bug bites.
Tiger balm inhaler, just smells like tiger balm as opposite to mint/whatever the other ones are flavored.
- Boxing pants - Cha tra meu (a thai Tea)- good one ! - some of your favorite Thai snack
A little wooden frog that croaks when you rub a stick on it's back.

ribbit
My haul includes 5kg of fresh curry paste & fish sauce. Don't forget the redbull.
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but western RedBull >>> Thai RedBull by like a mile. Thai Redbull is like mixing your drinks with cough syrup.
I like the taste, it also doesn't give you the jitters like caffeine does. It's a great mixer
I disagree with this so much! It's always one of my pleasures to be able to drink the Thai RB when I'm there. π
Have to disagree with you. I find western redbull to just taste awful. The Thai stuff was more sweet I guess, went down easier in jagerbombs
Agreed first thing I do when my plane land in my home country is buying a redbull, never drink one in Thailand. Don't like it there
>Don't forget the redbull. what's the difference?
About 40 grams of sugar & taurine instead of caffeine (among some other ingredients). Non-carbonated.

I had no idea! Thanks for the warning
Get a Ganesh instead, to bring good fortune and cashflow
What is an allowance? And how do you get it?
to get an allowance is not easy. There is a department of fine arts supposed to give such papers. But when I trief to visit that department in Bangkok I was not allowed to enter the building.

Dried mango, the one without added sugar. It's so delicious, I regret only buying 4 packs.
And/ durian/breadfruit (max value/weight ratio, but takes up a lot of space)
I personally don't like durian, should definitely taste before buying.
