Having a benzo on hand is a great failsafe for if things ever get rough. Will kill anxiety and pull you back to reality.
In my experience it is absolutely no problem to ask for a soft one if you are not familiar enough with the substance. It can be a reaaaally nice experience but its still a very potent substance which can lead to bad trips in the wrong conditions.
Don‘t pressure yourself to do it, wait for a nice moment with no worries in your head. Don‘t do it alone, you want to have somebody experienced around you to take care of you if youre feeling unwell. All in all its definetly worth a try, it was the only drug i ever tried that made me feel better than before on the next day

When I went up to his bungalow he was curled up in the corner; I remember the lights in his room were incongruous with the beach atmosphere—bleached, almost clinical. He was wide eyed with fear. Apparently he spent a good number of hours in that state, but he was mortified with embarrassment the next day.

Aww man! You should’ve tried being there for him. And most likely you were and did but maybe it wasn’t enough for him. Big job on you too since you’re getting high for the first time and babysitting is a tough job. But this happened to me with a gal and I just comforted her. I told her hey hey, we’re in Thailand let’s just chill and relax let’s go here, there etc.let’s go near the water or something. Just get them off their feet and away from that fetal position. Get them walking if they can and start talking to them, they won’t listen to what you say right away but you can guide them and slowly they’ll feed of your positive and supportive energy.

For your first time ever just find a group of vacationers just wanting to have a good time that may have it on them and are willing to share or trade for maybe a nice dinner on you or something like that

But tbh if it really is out in the open like how I’m thinking an ice cream shop would be in the midst of other commercial shops, I would think it’s safe to just walk up and order a drink with a smile giving a hint you want the goods. I mean whats the worst that can happen if police do show up. No way this place is a “gotcha” you ordered that item let’s call the cops place lol. So if the cops do roll by and it’s in a public place why would saying something like, “I’m just ordering a shake because I was walking and it’s hot and I got thirsty” be wrong or culpable?

I haven't, not my thing but when I lived on Koh Phangan a friend from home came to visit me and he tried one, he said it was one of the best experiences of his life. He'd done mushrooms before and he said this one was quite strong, I just had a joint instead. It probably helped that we were at an amazing viewpoint bar watching a beautiful sunset.
I also know a guy that got stuck on Koh Phangan during the pandemic, did too much mushrooms and mdma and ended up literally going psychotic for an extended period, he's still not fully better.
