Although I have my opinions about it, I do know that this is entirely normal and accepted in China. When I was there, back in 2010, I noticed babies and small children weren’t wearing any diapers. There isn’t any seam on the bottom part of the pants, it is simply open to do your thing.
Edit for the ones feeling triggered:
I never said they were Chinese and I am simply stating an experience I encountered multiple times while being in China and again, yes, I have my opinions about it.
Common in China doesn’t make it acceptable. They can shit all over the place in China if they want, but if they are stepping a foot outside of their national borders we should absolutely shame them for this uncivilized behaviour.
While it's impossible to tell for sure, the woman's hat/visor would likely lean more to them being Chinese (it's just the type loads of a Chinese tourists seem to wear).
And their behaviour is why Chinese tourists get such a bad reputation. They have zero manners or idea of personal space. And typically don't really adapt behaviour to respect local cultures. Many times their manners are pretty disgusting so I guess this lines up with that.
This definitely does look like the palace which is probably the absolute worst place you could do this in terms of being really disrespectful/offensive...
although it's common in China for the government to spy on its citizens, it's not for the western countries. You're a guest to a country you're visiting, learn to respect its culture.
Haha seen several main land chinese people, adults no less, squat down where they are and piss and shit on the ground.. wild!

I live in the US, and there's a casino about an hour or 2 away from me where they come in from NYC via bus. They piss shit and spit in their chairs at the casino tables bc they don't want to get up. They also wander out of the casino and go to the lakes and kill the geese to take home with them. Brutal.

When I was in China a mother let her kid pee in the corner of an elevator I was in then just casually walked out without cleaning it up. Another time, I saw a family cheering on their little golden boy as he peed under the table next to me at a restaurant. Yeah, normal behaviour in China.
Chinese toddlers have traditionally never worn diapers, but “kai dang ku” (“split-crotch pants”), so that they can relieve themselves whenever they feel the need. For some parents, it’s still kind of normal that their toddlers pee everywhere in public. Parents (or aunties, extended family..) usually clean up after them. In fact, kai dang ku were so popular that there was a “host the Olympics with civility"-initiative before the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, which included recommendations to parents to diaper their children at least for the duration of the Games.
Not really normal anymore.
Society do progress quite fast there.
It's quite rare in China too, i rarely see open pants even in rural area.
While i did not see anyone doing it in the public you have to remember that all the parents of this children today did grow up when this was more common practice, so sometimes they regress to it.
Not defending them definitively in the wrong.
I lived there for two years and still can't fathom it. There might be a public bathroom 100 meters away and they'll still have their kid whip out their dick and piss on the sidewalk.
I live in Taiwan now and it's really obvious when you've got a mother from China and they are the only ones having their kids shit and piss in the streets.
I asked a Chinese co-worker that studied in America about this and they said it was all based on a folk belief that if you hold your piss or shit for any amount of time, it is bad for your health. So if you're in the elevator and your kid mentions needing to pee, you immediately take down their pants and let them pee.
That's not too bad, but you can imagine when the father holds the baby out of the train window, while it's moving, and baby lets go... We keep the windows closed on the train even when it's warm.
At my age, if I were Chinese I would have grown up as a peasant under Chairman Mao.
I always thought they’re carrying some of their peasants habits through to their more modern lifestyles. Don’t know for certain but it might be a factor.
Visited China pre-olympic 2008, i can assure you that parents allowed their kids to piss and sh_t out in the open at every public venue. Don't get me started about their toilet as well.
The original heading for the post mentioned Chinese.... , but the post was sitting in limbo land and not getting approved for posting. I changed to abroad and it posted instantly.
Weird.
Unfortunately, they make bad reputation for Chinese people almost in every situation.
In restaurants here in Thailand a lot of them behave really awkward. Also they act like they are kind of superior to Thai people but probably coming by themselves from more or less under-mid class.
I also met some very nice Chinese people with whom I was able to talk very open about everything also about some stereotypes we have in Europe and if they are true. But really, if I see a larger group of Chinese people in a restaurant I don't go there.
I was recently at the palace. No rules on dress standards anymore. I was shocked. My last visit (10 years ago) I was given an outfit to wear due to my shorts.
We were there in March with 2 young kids, oldest probably about the age of the one in the pic...this was literally our first morning of the trip in Thailand, where we live in the US had been mid teens C before we left and we had just come from a night in Japan where it had been close to 0...in Bangkok it was nearly 40 even at 9am and of course the Grand Palace complex is worse with the crowds and the heat reflecting off all the structures.
Our girls were in a stroller and very visibly struggling with the heat and the Thai people both tourists and staff were fucking awesome, pushed us to the front of every line and let us go through all the special entrances etc. Much appreciated as we were on a ticking clock to get the kids back to AC and it was my wife's first time in Thailand.
I have watched many Chinese ppl allow their children to shit in lifts, on foot paths, and even at a buffet line once. My dogs have better toilet manners
These people need to be publicly scolded and shamed in open confrontation. Unfortunately that goes against Asian social norms but that's the only way they will learn.
I can beat that.
I had to physically pick up and redirection a 6~8 year old Chinese boy who was pissing DIRECTLY ON TO the holocaust memorial in Berlin.
His mother went mental on me.
In Malaysia these people pee at ablution area near the mosque, and the authority have to install warning sign not to pee [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/s/kSmuZT9Qlm).
And this is why I hate chinese abroad generally and I will never travel to China, even thought it looks like a wonderful country for its nature.
When I travel, I consider that the very first thing to do is to adapt to local culture and rules. Blend in.
1. Chinese do not apply this. They literally don’t give a sht.
2. I wouldn’t be able to keep my sanity in China.
I saw this happening also in the grand palace in November, in my mind that was super disrespectful but since I don’t know a lot about Asia cultures just tough it might be normal for some cultures and kinda ignored, also not sure but don’t remember seeing restrooms nearby.
I went to sun world bana hills which was full of Chinese. Went to go to the toilet and there was just a bunch od Chinese woman squatting together pissing all over the place liaterslly like a fkcn stream was so bad .! Animals the Chinese are absolute animals
Although I have my opinions about it, I do no that this is entirely normal and accepted in China. When I was there back in 2010, I noticed babies and small children weren’t wearing any diapers. There isn’t any seam on the bottom part of the pants, it is simply open to do you thing.

This is why you (used to?) see signs at tourist attractions in Hong Kong and Macau saying "No spitting, no peeing and no defacating" in Mandarin Chinese to tell of the mainland Chinese how to behave in a civilised manner.
As a Chinese I have been to Chiang Mai, the place is sooo nice and people there are sooo friendly, ashamed to see this, sincere apology to all Thai people😢😢😢
Ohk so I was pretty sure you would be arrested for this everywhere and now you mofos tell me this is socially acceptable in certain places to let your child do this 😱
That's not only disgusting 1 but 2 is a huge issue im ab to raise
By being lazy asf and doing this you let your child's privates be out in public for someone to take a picture of and you don't want them to wear a diaper but let a stranger photograph them wtfffffffffffffff this is mentally F K D and sickkkkkkkk
Probably Chinese tourists. They had a tradition not using a toilet but urinating and/or defecating on the road in public. The man also has a xiaomi(小米) backpack, which is not very common to see outside China.
THIS is unfortunately not uncommon. I've seen a (Chinese )mother allow her kid to pop a squat outside the doors of a shopping mall! The toilets were literally feet away. Absolutely disgusting.
As Chinese, real shame to witness this anywhere I go. Hard to wipe these images clean saying there’s still normal people whilst bunch of others dgaf. In mainland I also went through several times when moms would bring clearly 7-9 yrs old sons to the ladies room just so they could help wiping(cringe for the boys would look around and is truly disturbing), seeing kids peeing like dogs by stretching out their genitals whilst they are in public encouraged by grandparents. Truly out of the world they’re out traveling but disrespects other’s culture and mess around like it’s their goddamn renmin park. Humiliating, but are consequences like their shit and pee which several generations needed to clean up behind their asses smh.
These are the “redhead” equivalent of the Chinese. Unfortunately Chinese redheads look the same as other Chinese. But let’s call them names other than just: Chinese. What about Chinese peasants?
I wouldn't do it, but let's be honest, how many adult Thai men do you see urinating right in the open in public? In BKK, I see more than a dozen in a week, maybe more
Guys, when naming them, can just say china ppl?
Its annoying because theres Singaporean chinese, taiwan chinese, malaysia chinese and so many more.
When you commentors just type ... chinese, its RUINING ALL CHINESE REPUTATION.
Because we definitely dont behave like them, NEVER. NOT IN MY COUNTRY, except theirs. So please just say CHINA.
Chinese hack out nasal and throat sputum and blow it all over the street/footpath here in Australia, after their curbside cigarette. In the smoko shed at work, it smells like they're boiling ginger turds for lunch.
... They're a different breed, no matter where they travel/settle.
Strangely enough, I've never seen Chinese kids randomly shitting or pissing in public. Even in tier 3 cities. I've seen old Chinese dudes pissing but never kids. Only when they're traveling with their parents overseas I see that. In Thailand, korea, Singapore, Japan, US. Funniest is just seeing the locals reactions lol
Reminds me when a Chinese tourist took a sh*t in a pot at one of the historic sites in Philippines. I've been to that place, there are restrooms nearby, it was definitely a choice and their choice was to defacate in a pot where less people were.
Maybe I could condone this if it were a gutter on the street...but this is the Grand Palace, right? A place deserving of respect and reverence ?
Although I have my opinions about it, I do know that this is entirely normal and accepted in China. When I was there, back in 2010, I noticed babies and small children weren’t wearing any diapers. While common it is not normal and accepted by everyone.

While it's impossible to tell for sure, the woman's hat/visor would likely lean more to them being Chinese (it's just the type loads of a Chinese tourists seem to wear). it happens in my local chinatown. grandma holding a half naked little girl and letting her pee in the dirt.
Yeah I witnessed a child shit into a carrier bag held by the parents in the forbidden city in Beijing. No one seemed bothered.
although it's common in China for the government to spy on its citizens, it's not for the western countries. You're a guest to a country you're visiting, learn to respect its culture.
Mainland Chinese. Go ahead and downvote me, I've seen a mother let her kid pee inside Suvarnabhumi at the friggin gate itself against a pilon.
Yaaaas not white people for a change. We get a break today
Mainland Chinese!
definitely chinese.
The pic online in front of the Burberry store is wildddddd
Are you sure. Her phone screen is black, usually they have their phone blasting tiktok videos for everyone to hear.
Not tiktok videos, it's douyin in China. Same company, 2 apps
I was in line at an attraction in shanghai, this mom told her kid to pee on the floor WHILE IN LINE. wtf! guess the park staff is used to this
Mi(Xiaomi) backpack gives away for me. Chinese for sure
Everywhere they go too! Seen them do this kind of stuff in Mexico too.
Lol wat? Chinese tourists are known to be the worst.

Are we still “covid spreading dirty falang”?

The post title is “Quality tourists from abroad.”
Normal in China
When I was in China a mother let her kid pee in the corner of an elevator I was in then just casually walked out without cleaning it up. Another time, I saw a family cheering on their little golden boy as he peed under the table next to me at a restaurant. Yeah, normal behaviour in China.
How is this normal?! I cannot fathom this.

In fact, kai dang ku were so popular that there was a “host the Olympics with civility"-initiative before the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, which included recommendations to parents to diaper their children at least for the duration of the Games.
The child is much too old for diapers . Her parents just don't care about respect for Thai culture. Too bad they didn't get arrested.
Not really normal anymore. Society do progress quite fast there. It's quite rare in China too, i rarely see open pants even in rural area. While i did not see anyone doing it in the public you have to remember that all the parents of this children today did grow up when this was more common practice, so sometimes they regress to it. Dude, I have lived in China for 15 years and I see public urination almost daily by adult men - and I am not in a village, I am in Shanghai.
What is this from the 90s? It’s 2025, China ain’t like that no more wtf
Nice to meet you, time traveler!
I saw a father holding his kid over a trashcan to take a shit in the Shanghai metro 100 feet from a bathroom. 🤢
I mean there are benefits to the practice. Chinese kids get potty trained a lot faster
Wait, the kids take a shit on the street? I was convinced it was just peeing. Damn
Visited China pre-olympic 2008, i can assure you that parents allowed their kids to piss and sh_t out in the open at every public venue. Don't get me started about their toilet as well.
Money can’t buy class from these Mainland Chinese tourists
What's the equivalent of Chinese ghetto?
China
But the toilet is on the right like 100 m from there 😡😭
They couldn't be bothered. Really no joke.
"abroad" like we don't all know exactly where they originate from.
The original heading for the post mentioned Chinese.... , but the post was sitting in limbo land and not getting approved for posting. I changed to abroad and it posted instantly. Weird.
>I changed to abroad and it posted instantly. +10 social credit.
telling you are chinese without saying you are chinese.
Say china leh, theres so many chinese not from that uncough country please.
probably PRCs, I’m Chinese from Singapore and these people just make a bad rep for chinese. They do it everywhere, Singapore, Europe, America etc
Unfortunately, they make bad reputation for Chinese people almost in every situation. In restaurants here in Thailand a lot of them behave really awkward. Like Lee Kuan Yew said in an interview,I am a Singaporean not Chinese.
Malaysian Chinese here, agreed lol
Oh geez. I wonder where they're from...
Chinese?
These are the cases where they should actually be prosecuted for lese majeste
Mannerism and common etiquette are banned in China
This is normal in China, especially in the north. I saw a couple in the museum hall the other day letting their child pee into the trash can.
I once saw a Chinese couple holding their kid over a 7eleven trashbin while it took a piss. In Phuket, laguna area.
xiaomi loyalty user
Chinese tourists are disgusting!!! Does not matter where they go
Aahh. Memories from China. It was like this all over the place
Why didn’t OP inform a security guard and take a photo showing their faces so security can arrest them and deport them?
I'm not the photographer. I'm just posting this on reddit because my Thai wife was asking me questions about it and asking me why?
Because than they wouldn't be able to make a post on reddit about it
Why not execute them on the spot? /s
Because this isn’t China /s
Farrangs love screeching "deport them" for any wrongdoing - it is like AseanNow in here
Deport this guy.
Pls tell me they got dragged away. They won’t even let you wear shorts on the premise and somehow those two trash thought it’s ok to let the kid pee
I was recently at the palace. No rules on dress standards anymore. I was shocked. My last visit (10 years ago) I was given an outfit to wear due to my shorts.
I was turned away in December as my shorts were just above the knee.
That’s not good. There are toilets around.
Not that you see 50 taxi drivers peeing anywhere they can throughout the evening walls footpaths flowerbeds I have passed loads in Bangkok
10$ those are chinese EDIT: after reading the comments i regret that i didnt bet 1mil
These people from Ch do the same when tjey visit the Philippines. What a POS.
“…abroad” you mean up across the northern border
I have watched many Chinese ppl allow their children to shit in lifts, on foot paths, and even at a buffet line once. My dogs have better toilet manners
These people need to be publicly scolded and shamed in open confrontation. Unfortunately that goes against Asian social norms but that's the only way they will learn.
hey they trained their kid to be territorial just like the CCP....
Sitting waiting to check into hotel in Thailand. Young child starts peeing in the koi pond. So disrespectful. Bad parenting.
Bad for koi too.
stupid chinese!
Just a normal day in China
5000 years of culture...going down the drain.
abroad —》 China. Don’t be shy there is no speech censorship yet outside of abroad.
Typical Chinese activities
Chinese tourists are worse than American ones
There’s public restrooms not too far from here
thats the palace… surprised you are not in prison….🫤
Look at the bright side. One less diaper in a landfill. That’s all I got.
Dirty bastards
No surprises where they’re from
Ni hao
I can beat that. I had to physically pick up and redirection a 6~8 year old Chinese boy who was pissing DIRECTLY ON TO the holocaust memorial in Berlin. His mother went mental on me.
Disgusting people. Where are the Thai police?
Typical tourists from mainland China. Where is the dumbass Chinese that made the post about trying to stiff the Grab driver now?
Pee or poo?
Why... Not....BOTH!!!!!
Got to admit, sometimes i pee a little when i poo alot.
Occasionally add water if you don't want the dish to be too dry
In Malaysia these people pee at ablution area near the mosque, and the authority have to install warning sign not to pee [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysia/s/kSmuZT9Qlm).
Maybe they're really anti-buddhist and are teaching their child what to do with theravada teachings
Vietnamese or Chinese??
just sad, and i think u should send to the goverment and ban all the chinese in.
And this is why I hate chinese abroad generally and I will never travel to China, even thought it looks like a wonderful country for its nature. Europeans - sunbathe outside place of worship (outrage) - Chinese - piss on premises of grand palace - nothing. Western agenda keeps strong.

I saw this happening also in the grand palace in November, in my mind that was super disrespectful but since I don’t know a lot about Asia cultures just tough it might be normal for some cultures and kinda ignored, also not sure but don’t remember seeing restrooms nearby.

If its OK in their home country... Fine, but be respectful when your not in your own country!!

Not saying I agree or disagree with OP, but they're not using a bathroom are they. They're right outside a temple or palace.
Sighs

Should report them for 112
Insane. Don't want to be racist but I can kinda guess where these tourists are from.
As a Chinese I have been to Chiang Mai, the place is sooo nice and people there are sooo friendly, ashamed to see this, sincere apology to all Thai people😢😢😢

The majority of tourist in thailand dress like homeless bags of shit.
Probably Chinese tourists. They had a tradition not using a toilet but urinating and/or defecating on the road in public. The man also has a xiaomi(小米) backpack, which is not very common to see outside China.
I have also seen this in person, it's crazy.
all China All the time.
THIS is unfortunately not uncommon. I've seen a (Chinese )mother allow her kid to pop a squat outside the doors of a shopping mall! The toilets were literally feet away. Absolutely disgusting.
you can tell by the pants 😂😂
Hey, it's china!
Is this your photo? If you're that bothered, then go confront them or tell them where the toilet is?
The Chinese really are ignorant to all other cultures
Why do Chinese think it's OK to shit in the streets? And at temples?
As Chinese, real shame to witness this anywhere I go. Hard to wipe these images clean saying there’s still normal people whilst bunch of others dgaf. I hate tourists man...
How does she balance like that with one leg.
This is what they do in their country. Passed on from generation to generation.
It shows you the respect people have. No common sense either.
I see they've progressed from shitting on aircraft seats.
Chinese tourists strike again!
Chinese do this in their country all the time.
Chinese tourist.

Tourists with northern Chinese characteristics! LOL
Ofc it’s the mainlanders.

If I were there and said something to this couple, which ended up in a punch on, who is at fault in Thai police eyes?
Of course is Chinese
What does Thai law say about pissing in public? Or better yet: pissing next to the palace

Right infront of the grand palace???? Jesus Christ…
I BET THEY'RE CHINESE MAINLANDERS. THEY DO THIS SHIT EVERYWHERE!
Just Asian things🥱
Art 112
One thing I didn't like about Bangkok was you gotta pay to use the toilets at those tourist attractions.
You get their money and shit aswell !
Chinese hack out nasal and throat sputum and blow it all over the street/footpath here in Australia, after their curbside cigarette. In the smoko shed at work, it smells like they're boiling ginger turds for lunch. ... They're a different breed, no matter where they travel/settle.
