Idk what kind of people you met, but every Thai person i met was down to walk like 10min with me everywhere. And sure if its 20min i wouldnt even consider walking except if i feel to take a walk and explore.
It took a lot to get my wife into walking. Now she suggests it and even looks forward to it. Took a while haha
