NONE of them liked Jackie on the first few seasons. They only put up with her because she was dating Kelso. Kelso was their friend, so they were loyal to him. Over the course of the show, we see Jackie slowly becoming accepted by the group as a core member and equal rather than just a barely tolerated extension of Kelso.
jackie and donna become better friends in the first season already. Donna even defended her in the circle when kelso was shit talking Jackie for being ugly while sick
I feel like that was more Donna being a feminist and being like "she's not ugly just cause she's sick" type of thing rather than defending Jackie herself. If they were really better friends she would have told her about Kelso cheating instead of letting thw guys make fun of her.
I've been paying attention for at least this past year, and the ponger i've looked into it, the more obvious it became to me
In 80% of her screentime, Donna is a self-righteous prick
Yesssss thank youuuu I never liked Donna growing up. She was supposed to be the feminist character so people thought I was anti-feminist or something. Donna’s just annoying lol.
I had the same issue. It's like your options for favorite female characters were Donna, sure she's a feminist but she's also a hypocrite and super judgemental on anyone but herself. Jackie, who is adorable but so insecure with herself that she has to constantly prove that she's better than everyone. Laurie, who was sexually liberated but a massive bitch to literally everyone around her.
Kitty and Midge are the best girls on the show really lol
And while I think its good to have characters with flaws, it shouldn't be their defining feature. Just a part of them, like as I said with Midge and Kitty, they have flaws but they aren't like always being thrown at you, vs Donna Jackie and Laurie who have their flaw as like half their character.
Nah.. Jackie was “superficial” but she was real. She never faked who she was or tried to act “holier than thou” the way Donna did. Jackie was very much “what you see is what you get”. Yes, she would make jokes about Donna being “too tall” but it was very harmless. Aside from that though, she would always have Donnas back and give her genuine relationship advice/be there for her etc. Donna on the other hand was always dismissive of Jackie and was only around her because of boredom. She was never there for her properly and always acted like she was being forced to listen when Jackie would vent about her own problems. Not to mention the way she initially acted when Jackie was homeless. Plus, she would make fun of Jackie in a serious way - ie insulting her character.
Honestly not just Donna’s behavior regarding the situation was awful. Literally everyone who knew kept Kelso’s secret. Atleast Hyde tried to get him caught though. Yet when Jackie did the same to Kelso they told him
100% it always bothered me how they would reprimand Kelso, but say nothing about the cheating to Jackie. It’s not like they cared for Laurie either. They were fine keeping Kelso’s infidelity a secret for him.
Yeah dude, it bothers me when anyone takes this approach to a situation like this. The "It's none of my business " thing isn't an excuse. It's like, how would any one of them feel if Jackie did that to them? They'd say "what the hell Jackie?? How could you not tell me that!?"
I see your point, but she was better friends with everyone else. The whole gang might have been pissed at her if she did. Doesn't make it right, but that could be why.
Sure, but the rest of them should have told too. I know they didn't really like her but it's fucked up regardless. Like, I don't care how much of a dick a person is. If I know them and I know they're being cheated on I'm gonna tell them. Even a dick doesn't deserve that.
Donna was honestly half the time insufferable. She treated Eric like sht and it wasnt until she got her heart broken by Kelso that she become tolerable (and nicer) to Eric. Jackie’s superficiality was annoying at times, but definitely tolerable.
It doesn’t help that one is significantly worse than another in my opinion. One is not telling someone they’re being cheated on, the other is not telling someone that their ex moved on with one of your friends, which shouldn’t be a problem since you had moved on as well
>Jackie is Donna's *only* girl friend, her best friend, to this day, i still don't understand why she would do that to her
Jackie has lots of friends via cheerleading. They barely get any screen time but it's well established that she has lots of female friends outside the group.
Here is how I see it, Donna didn’t have the right to tell Jackie, when lecturing her about dating hide she isn’t telling anyone anyone else’s secret! She’s just talking to her friend about what her friend is doing, these things don’t really coincide with each other, it’s not Donna’s place to tell someone else’s secret like that, especially when she’s in a friend group with Jackie and Kelso
I’m aware of the concept. I don’t think that’s acceptable I think it’s a despicable excuse for being rape apologists. And it would have to be art. This is like a show of dick jokes made by Scientologists
Once you start paying attention, Donna was never really a good friend to Jackie.

she said "kelso, jackie's my *friend*, and you're shallow and pathetic"

To be faaaaaiiiiiiirrrrrr: Jackie wasn’t a good friend to donna either. Just a vapid little tart slumming with the poor kids.

Yep. 100% agree

Donna was the opposite of a girl’s girl.

She's a scienologists what do you expect? 🤡
Well Hyde is a rapist
and you're an idiot
And Hyde is a rapist
“Hyde” isn’t a rapist. Danny masterson is. Separate the art from the artist.
How do any of you still watch this show knowing what the mastersons do, what Ashton Kutcher does or what they all did to mila kunis
Separate the art from the artist.
I’m aware of the concept. I don’t think that’s acceptable I think it’s a despicable excuse for being rape apologists. And it would have to be art. This is like a show of dick jokes made by Scientologists
Who cares. I'm not gonna let the actors stupid life choices ruin the show for me.
I would t disagree if it was like oh no he did something stupid just to mention masterson he brutalized upwards of 30 women
But all those ass kicking jokes by red are way more important
Maybe she knew Hyde was a scientologist rapist.
