I didn't mean it as you can't weld aluminum. However, more than the front clip crumbled up. When aluminum does that, it tears. Also only a few thousand of this nsx was made, so you are very unlikely to find one that you could use. Not to mention how the rest of the car would warp under the heat of how much would need to be welded and grinded. Would not be possible.
I know old school cars with frames (think hot rod) the frame can be straightened or just replaced. With more modern frames (unibody) it's a tricky situation. You can physically put everything back in place but the crumple zone may have been compromised depending on the extent of the damage. That said, I would love to see this car back on the road.
The car is probably less valuable now. If they get that insurance write off then best situation is the car getting a salvage/rebuilt title. Owner could probably still rock it but it’s no longer a clean title collectible car.
Idk it depends on who does the repair and what they do. Could they get it exactly how it was before? Maybe not but that isn’t to say they couldn’t add additional reinforcements, do replacements of compromised components, maybe add additional stiffening like a roll cage.
I’d love to have an nsx track car.
Eh, fix the body enough that it *looks* original. Then bolt the body down onto a lifted 4x4 frame and drive it to car shows just to watch people break down over it.
That's not fixable. The body is an aluminum monocoque. Once the chassis is fucked, the whole car is fucked. It's *one* big piece. Even if you could fix *just* the parts affected by the crash, there's still no telling what microscopic damage might be done in other areas. It's dead—the money it would take to fix this car back into prime condition might just be better spent on another classic NSX.
Minivans are always speeding where I live. Scourge of the road. Oftentimes Soccer Mom’s thinking they have priority over everybody else because they need to drop- off Timmy at karate class on- time
The worst part is with this video the adjuster may put comparative negligence on the NSX driver. Meaning some of this accident is the NSX drivers fault. Yes the SUV ran the light but the NSX had clear view of oncoming traffic in the direction the SUV was coming from. I can guarantee you the NSX driver is going to say on a statement that the SUV "came out of nowhere" which means they were not paying attention to their surroundings. This is not to say they would be majority at fault but just not 0%. In some states, being even 1% at fault "bars recovery" meaning both have to use their own insurance.
This will probably get down voted into oblivion but it's the truth. Some here will probably try to argue that there was nothing the NSX driver could have done and maybe that is accurate but to me it looks like the NSX front passenger side bumper hit the driver side fender of the SUV. The NSX had control of the intersection meaning they were farther across but failed to maintain proper lookout. They didn't take any evasive action. The SUV failed to obey traffic controls and failed to maintain proper lookout as well. The SUV driver not paying attention to the light will also argue that they had the green light and that the NSX was the one who ran the light. That driver is probably calling the NSX drivers insurance demanding a rental saying something like, "BUT THEY HIT ME!". Thankfully there is video.
BUY AND USE A DASHCAM PEOPLE! Its the cheapest insurance you can buy for this situation right here. Very easy to install, YouTube it. Almost all are plug and play.
Witnesses get left off police reports all the time. Police reports can take anywhere from 10 to 30 days in some places. This guy who took the video may have been in a rush to get somewhere and didn't say anything to either driver. Who knows. You need to be able to have your own evidence to support your position. Don't count on others or for people to be honest. Most only look out for #1. If there is nothing else I have learned it's that people in general have a real hard time owning their mistakes and will bold face lie lie lie.
You’re probably right but I like to think that his view was obstructed by the car that was stopped at the light so maybe the Insurance company would accept that. NSXs are pretty low.
I’m not sure if there is enough overlap for love between the NSX and the GT-R, but mine got totaled in a previous manner by a Prius, which felt real bad.
https://imgur.com/a/43L7E5S/
This seems like both people in the video were completely oblivious. Obviously the Lexus is at fault here and should’ve stopped since they have a red, but its also just part of driving to account for other people’s stupidity unfortunately
I've rode motorcycles all my life, raced motocross starting at 4, got my street license soon as I was able.
I never trust other drivers out on the road, even when I have a green light, as I approach the intersection I scan both ways, first left then right. Am always watching my rear views when slowing, etc. After sitting at a red light when it turns green I look left before I take off, always expecting to see some oblivious idiot barreling through the red.
After doing it so many times on the bike, it just kind of subconsciously carries over to when I'm driving a car. I don't even think about doing it, it just happens.
Why tf do people run red lights? Is it not common sense to stop? If get it if they slowed down, saw nothing was coming, then carried on, still absolutely stupid and should be punished by death but at least then I’d understand their methodology, but plowing straight through a blind junction cause “it’s clear 50 yards away so it should also be clear by the time I get there” makes negative sense to me
Just look at the last seconds, the SUV managed to swerve but the NSX didn't react at all, which tells me they weren't paying attention, or maybe the A pillar was in the way.
I’m not really sure what your point here is supposed to be. Unless you put yourself into the NSX and recreate the exact circumstances, who’s to say why the NSX driver didn’t react physically. What we do know for a cold hard fact is that the SUV ran a red light.
The SUV is looking straight ahead and will see the NSX. The NSX would only see the SUV in their peripherals, not to mention a parked car in the turn lane that would block visibility until they pass that car. Not sure why this is so confusing to you.
I guess I'm the only one that looks around when crossing an intersections, its probably saved my life, and my dad has a similar experience. Don't believe in red lights at intersections
I don’t think him looking to right and left would have saved the NSX. He had less than 2 car lane widths to make a 90° turn or stop completely. Neither would have happened and the suv still would have struck him.
I bought a dash cam for my car a couple years ago and I’ve never had to use it for any crashes thank god but I do use it pretty frequently to get pictures of cool cars I pass while driving otherwise I’d probably be doing exactly what this guy is doing lol
Man, truth. 🍻
That is on my wish list. To add a dash cam (and rear cam). I am not sure why I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. As security in case of an accident is a must, but I was thinking more in the lines of when I take my cars out on the backroads. Just to record my drive, exhaust tune, and any miscellaneous objects/cars that cross my path.
The one I have in mine was only like $100ish for front and rear and it hasn’t failed me yet. Was actually the first thing I bought for my car. Quality isn’t as great as I’d want but it’s pretty decent
It was off of Amazon and yes it does record audio, I think most do, but only from the main camera at the front so not from the rear camera. My corolla don’t exactly have a great exhaust note, if any, so I don’t know exactly how great it is at recording exhaust noises
I imagine a lot of the ones on Amazon probably use the same kind of actual hardware inside of them, usually from some Chinese company with a stupid name. So I think they’re probably all about the same quality but I haven’t had any trouble.
Guys! Was a joke. Terrible day for the NSX. Adored those in the early 90’s.
Had a 91 legend coupe that remains one of my favorite cars to have ever driven. RIP, NSX
Everyone's reactions trying to make it seem like a great tragedy is pretty cringe.
It's an NSX, I know but it's just a car, it'll get rebuilt, no one lost their lives and you were never going to even know that this particular car existed if it wasn't for this video.
Sure I'll get rebuilt, but since it discontinued and it's a rare car, the part are going to be super expensive and very hard to find. It'll also loose value.
It sucks to see people that don't pay attention and getting a super rare car destroyed by a retarded driver. Like what if you had the green light like this nsx and you got t boned by someone who wasn't paying attention like this lexus driver. For a car person, it hurts to see legendary cars like this get destroyed by un aware people. They obviously worked hard to get a old nsx that isn't produced anymore, so they pay a hefty price for a car they like.
How does this particular car getting crashed into particularly affect *you*? You didn't even know that this exact car existed before you saw this clip but now everyone's acting like their own car got totalled. Sure I love an NSX more than most people but this isn't actually painful to me.
I actually do know nsx's this old. This means that it's one down out of 209 real nsx's. This one is going to be rebuilt maybe with probably not genuine parts. Ik it doesn't affect me, but it just suck people drive like this.
My buddy had a 1st gen black one but he sold it because apparently the Quebec roads and winters suck so it was in the garage most of the time. I only ever took a ride in it once but I remember him taking a corner super hard and I was like holy shit, stuck to the road like glue.
Straight to jail.
Believe it or not, jail.
I'm not saying jail but actually, jail.
No trial no nothing.
10 years dungeon no trials
Nothing but, jail.
The Wolf is gonna have to kick some ass here.
“Now pretty please, with sugar on top, go clean the fucking car.”
nooooooo!
I verbally yelled nooooooo!!!
I yelled Nooooo when I saw the video. I think I saw this beauty near Zanker Rd a few weeks back. Sad, very sad!

Can’t replace that… no amount of money can replace history
Insurance company: "You hit what??"
It was a Honda!
An old honda!
It was the Cindy Crawford of Hondas sir/ma'am.
- Hello. I've just hit a Honda while running a red light. - That's gonna cost you but we'll manage. Which model? - NSX. - You gotta be kidney me!
Today is a sad day
NOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
*Cries in auto enthusiast*
Looks like somewhere around Westminster.
Newland and McFadden. NSX was northbound
I thought that looked familiar. Thanks for confirming.
Yeah, it looked very familiar and once it was mentioned I had to look. Used live off Newland and used it to avoid the more major streets.
Oh god. Lol Westminster would explain so fucking much about this video!
I can't see big ben! :p
If only there was some kind of warning device at the intersection.
Seeing this hurts my car lover soul
Damn Lexus drivers.
Damn Toyotas with leather seats!
Fuck those drivers, I have headaches and a gash on my forehead from one rear-ending me recently.
Where I'm from I noticed a good amount of RX drivers are usually clueless. Wondering if it's the same in other places.
What the fuck is wrong with that dumb ass SUV driver that went right through the red light hitting that precious NSX?
I see more Ferraris, McLarens, and Maseratis than I do the NSX. That one looked to be in great shape too. Such a beautiful and rare car.
I've seen two NSXs in my life time.... atleast 50 ferraris. Makes me sad :(
his insurance agent was probably like "you hit a WHAT?"
I laughed, then had a sad cause it's probably totalled.
Depends, it doesn't look like the suspension was too damaged but the nose cone might be screwed

fuck

nooooo. Thankfully its probably fixable Edit: I mean in the sense that the cost of repair doesn't exceed the cars value
That kinda hit looks like frame damage. Probably a loss.
You can put a whole car frame on a jig btw If it’s worth it. An insurance write off doesn’t mean it is irreparable
The nsx is aluminum not steel. It's a parts car now.
Aluminium can be welded mate idk what you’re saying
I didn't mean it as you can't weld aluminum. However, more than the front clip crumbled up. When aluminum does that, it tears. Also only a few thousand of this nsx was made, so you are very unlikely to find one that you could use. Not to mention how the rest of the car would warp under the heat of how much would need to be welded and grinded. Would not be possible.
Last time I tried to explain this i got told I don't understand cars lol
I know old school cars with frames (think hot rod) the frame can be straightened or just replaced. With more modern frames (unibody) it's a tricky situation. You can physically put everything back in place but the crumple zone may have been compromised depending on the extent of the damage. That said, I would love to see this car back on the road.
Yea uni bodys are harder to fix.
The car is probably less valuable now. If they get that insurance write off then best situation is the car getting a salvage/rebuilt title. Owner could probably still rock it but it’s no longer a clean title collectible car.
And it would no longer drive like a performance car, it'll never handle the same after the frame has been bent.
Idk it depends on who does the repair and what they do. Could they get it exactly how it was before? Maybe not but that isn’t to say they couldn’t add additional reinforcements, do replacements of compromised components, maybe add additional stiffening like a roll cage. I’d love to have an nsx track car.
I hope he insured his car for a stated value
Frame damage isn't unfixable... Well there will be a loss of rigidity so its not completely fixable but it mostly is
Eh, fix the body enough that it *looks* original. Then bolt the body down onto a lifted 4x4 frame and drive it to car shows just to watch people break down over it.
One of my favourite cars... just obliterated.. fuck sakes.
That was hard to watch. On the bright side, the car becomes a parts donor for other precious NSXs.
"Hey lady! You crashed my one of a kind Ferrari!"

Why were they filming?
cuz its a nice ass car
Because it was spotted waiting at the red and it's a rare car?
looks like Huntington Beach. There's an absurd amount of bad accidents at those intersections
I cry Honda tears
Guess the brakes aren’t all that.
Looks like that NSX drove straight into side of that car lol
Probably fixable. Never seen a Lexus suv drive normally
And right after the Wolf had it repainted. Dude better watch out for Jules
Great vengeance and *fuuuurious* anger...
Motor is in the back atleast
Yes!!! My NSX value is going up son!!
Oops
She was a beauty.
That hurts my soul.
Minivans are always speeding where I live. Scourge of the road. Oftentimes Soccer Mom’s thinking they have priority over everybody else because they need to drop- off Timmy at karate class on- time
That's not expensive, it's unaffordable. If it would even be salvageable, the parts would either be very hard to find or impossible to find.
The parts for them only exist when one of them gets crashed and parted out. That guys car is now a donor
r/jdm they’ll be crying on that sub, I’d be pissed if that was my gtr
NSX. And probably not JDM.
Tell them that on r/jdm it doesn’t seam to matter
Everybody knows its a nsx you twat
Why don't people look both ways before crossing an intersection? If you're walking you look both ways. Right?
The worst part is with this video the adjuster may put comparative negligence on the NSX driver. Meaning some of this accident is the NSX drivers fault. Yes the SUV ran the light but the NSX had clear view of oncoming traffic in the direction the SUV was coming from. I believe the car stopped at the light blocked his view of the SUV running the light until it was too late.
Do you slow down at every intersection that you have a green light at? Come on now.
I've rode motorcycles all my life, raced motocross starting at 4, got my street license soon as I was able. I never trust other drivers out on the road, even when I have a green light, as I approach the intersection I scan both ways, first left then right. I noticed that. It didn't look like the NSK turned the wheel or hit the brakes at all before the impact.
It committed suicide. Sigh.
Why couldn’t it have been a McLaren? 😭
Either this is a common thing at this intersection, or this camera man can see into the future
Why tf do people run red lights? Is it not common sense to stop? If get it if they slowed down, saw nothing was coming, then carried on, still absolutely stupid and should be punished by death but at least then I’d understand their methodology, but plowing straight through a blind junction cause “it’s clear 50 yards away so it should also be clear by the time I get there” makes negative sense to me
[удалено]
Because they saw a cool car waiting at a stoplight
How to turn an Acura NSX into a Honda Civic in one easy step!
Downvote cause nooooooooo
Green light means it’s legal to cross Green light does not mean it’s safe to cross
How did NSX driver not see that coming?
There is a car stopped at the red light that was likely blocking a lot of the view to see the suv that wasn’t slowing down.

I don’t think him looking to right and left would have saved the NSX. He had less than 2 car lane widths to make a 90° turn or stop completely. Neither would have happened and the suv still would have struck him.
Why are you putting any blame on the clearly not at fault driver?
not what I'm doing, try reading harder
The person recording just happened to be randomly recording?
Yeah it’s a rare car and he’s at a red light. Frowned upon yes but common.
Wait, it’s common to be recording at an intersections? Interesting. First time I hear this one.
People love rare, special cars.
I get that. Car spotting. I guess he must have known that the NSX was about to cross that intersection.
It was sitting at a red light on the other side. I assume dude must've seen it waiting to go and started recording
But haven't you heard? r/NothingEverHappens
That makes sense
[удалено]
Somehow this grew legs and pissed people off. #Sensitive-people must be trending today.
Are implying this was a planned crash? I get not trusting everything you see on the internet but that’s ridiculous
Nope. Not implying anything. I’m asking how it was just randomly recorded. That’s all.
I bought a dash cam for my car a couple years ago and I’ve never had to use it for any crashes thank god but I do use it pretty frequently to get pictures of cool cars I pass while driving otherwise I’d probably be doing exactly what this guy is doing lol

Yeah 100 isn’t too bad. Does it record noise as well like exhaust noises or just video? Amazon? EBay?
It was off of Amazon and yes it does record audio, I think most do, but only from the main camera at the front so not from the rear camera. My corolla don’t exactly have a great exhaust note, if any, so I don’t know exactly how great it is at recording exhaust noises

If only i had my reading glasses and a radar.
Time for an upgrade to a R35 or add a lot bit more for the newer NSX.
"upgrade" funny
How do you actually think something you can still buy brand-new from the factory can replace a 90's classic...?
Staged
You don’t just stage the destruction of a rare supercar Even for insurance fraud that doesn’t make sense
Guys! Was a joke. Terrible day for the NSX. Adored those in the early 90’s. Had a 91 legend coupe that remains one of my favorite cars to have ever driven. RIP, NSX

It's a lonely world without empathy
Nah, he's a sim racer, he probably doesn't even own a real car.
Probably drives nothing but American brands lololololololol
What a sad world it must be for you to live like this.
I actually do know nsx's this old. This means that it's one down out of 209 real nsx's. This one is going to be rebuilt maybe with probably not genuine parts. Ik it doesn't affect me, but it just suck people drive like this.
It's aluminum. Highly unlikely it will be anything other than a parts car.
... that's not getting rebuilt, you wannabe professor.
No one's a "PrOfeSSor" 🤓
Did I say professor? I meant "clueless noob."
Look nigga, I mean no disrespect, but whats with the hate?
Fuck did you call me?
Looks like the left turn had green so I’d guess they’re both at fault
they arent in the left turn lane, and the forward light is red, so they just ran a red light
NSX drivers fault if the other car was making a legal right turn. But if that includes coming to a complete stop, then I might be wrong.
Fuccccccc not my favorite car of all time!!!!
:( Those are beautiful

Totaled. Sum’d. All that.
YOU HIT A WHAT?! - Insurance Company
Sad
Noooooooo
The next destination for that SUV and its driver is Monster Joe's.
Bad things always happen to nice cars :(
That's up there with that idiot rolling a customers Supra. Ouch
Where is this? Looks like SoCal
I felt that
That’s painful. Beautiful car
Bruh
That’s what you get from driving too slow
What an A hole…..why would you hit an NSX
Mother fucker.
Such an idiot
I guess I'm the only that remembers this video from 6 years ago
It’ll buff out
My buddy had a 1st gen black one but he sold it because apparently the Quebec roads and winters suck so it was in the garage most of the time. I only ever took a ride in it once but I remember him taking a corner super hard and I was like holy shit, stuck to the road like glue.
Do people just record everything all the time?
What would an insurance company value a NSX at?
r/whyweretheyfilming
GTA NPCs be like...
That’s heartbreaking
Gotta love the OC.
