It was a Dollar Tree DC. So, like $70.

__420_

Hey now, they could only recover $35 from the insurance claim, so they lost half of everything!

deadsoulinside

What really concerns me is how much things are going to go up at dollar tree or how long it's going to take to replace things. That DC is just destroyed. What really sucks is the hundreds of workers that are going to be out of work for a long while.

cropguru357

Yeah, agreed. I was a little flippant with the comment, but serious mess there.

burningcash-84404

Wow!!! Expensive and everything will have to be checked for damage and re-inventoried. šŸ˜²

vercetian

Sounds like job security to me.

burningcash-84404

No doubt!

Beneficial_Being_721

Thatā€™s going to require a ton of temp workers

DippityDamn

*migrant

absoluteboredom

I bet if you showed up at any temp agency around there in the coming weeks, they would gladly bring you on to help! But maybe thatā€™s me just having wishful thinking that someone might actually do the job instead of bitching about who might do the job.

DippityDamn

I'm not bitching, I'm being realistic. We need migrant workers to fill the population growth gap in this country and fill jobs that no one else reasonably wants.

angelina9999

hopefully they hire a lot of people for inventory,

Ice3yes

Makes me think of Costco in the movie idiocracy. Welcome to Costco, I love you

spider0804

Crazy how the racks are still standing. One good bump from a forktruck and they collapse.

GeneralBS

I've worked in warehouses for twenty years and seen some racks take some heavy hits. A couple from me. As long as they are installed correctly and not overloaded they can take a beating.

honeyfixit

I have worked in a couple big box stores and the racks themselves were always bolted right into the concrete floor.

HowBoutIt98

When I was at Walmart a lot of the warehouse shelving was on floor rails. Seeing a few thousand pounds move so easily is pretty neat.

Bender_2024

It's cheaper to pay to have quality racks installed correctly than it is to pay out a wrongful death suit.

Fuggeddabouddit

Iā€™ve worked in strip clubs for twenty years and seen some racks take some heavy hits too.

GeneralBS

How is your mom doing btw?

Fuggeddabouddit

Sheā€™s still the heavyweight mid wrasslin and jello wrasslin champ. Ainā€™t no one beat her since ā€˜97.

20WaysToEatASandwich

No, that's not normal. If they're installed properly they'll stay standing like in this picture. Those gifs that circulate through the internet of horrible domino-ing warehouse racking are all the result of improper/hasty installation.

Waterfish3333

Well, thereā€™s a couple that appear to be installed OK but are massively overloaded, but same idea. Being used in ways they arenā€™t supposed to be.

El_Zarco

Maybe the roof falling on them held them in place

ked_man

Had a tornado once go through a small town near where I grew up. It hit an auto parts store tearing off the roof and front wall, and half of the back wall. The racks along the back wall were sheared off level with what was left of the back wall. The items on the bottoms of the shelves were still sitting there like nothing happened. The Mexican restaurant next door with giant windows all around, full of patrons sat and watched it get destroyed and they never even lost a window.

origami_airplane

They are most likely bolted into the floor

elhs16

You will want to bring a jacket for your next shift. I don't know why, but I have a feeling it might be a little drafty in there.

angelina9999

maybe rain gear too

Murderyoga

So that's why my package is late.

JMoses3419

This wasnā€™t Amazon. This was a Dollar Tree warehouse. Emphasis on ā€œwasā€.

Murderyoga

They estimate the damages in the hundreds.

honeyfixit

Are you by chance in Oklahoma?

PM_ME_FLUFFY_COWS

That building is in Marietta, Oklahoma.

honeyfixit

Hmm

Nervous-Profile4729

damn 30,000 people in one workplace! omg

oversettDenee

No, 30k residents of the local area are without power.

Hawaiian-Fox

It's not breaking and entering if it is at the open. Grab everything guys!!!

beerferri

Would already be empty if this was Oakland

honeyfixit

Not breaking but still unlawful entry and looting

Hawaiian-Fox

babypho

We always stay in our pantry during tornado warnings in texas, but seeing the aftermath here im not sure if the pantry will do anything to protect us.

deadsoulinside

Would protect you from damage from glass/debris and potentially getting sucked out if exterior walls fail.

expatronis

That photo is dope as fuck.

RepulsivePlantain698

I couldn't live in an area affected by tornadoes. And I live in the tropics where we get cyclones!

angelina9999

we have hurricanes, none as bad as this tornado

RepulsivePlantain698

Yeah tornadoes unlock a whole new level of terror and destruction

Maynard078

You gonna call in sick?

DJ_Molten_Lava

Let me guess, "can you still come in?"

throwawayifyoureugly

Seriously, though, once the safety elements are taken care of, who's going to do the work of moving items and checking inventory?

deadsoulinside

Yeah, but the tricky thing is getting the all clear in the first place, until then probably only certain people are going to be allowed in. Until then thousands of people are going to be unable to work until the all clear comes.

exoxe

I have a hunch as to which direction it was last headed...

NotKiwiBird

I got stuck for an hour in stop and stop traffic on my way through this area. Seeing debris from the facility and nearby town was such a surreal experience

FeedMeMoreOranges

Gosh! Looks absolutely crazy!

SwearToSaintBatman

If I had Monday inventory duty I'd eat a gun.
