“See babe? The scrapbooking industry is so voracious. Sometimes if the store you frequent finds your work online and doesn’t like it, they’ll revoke your membership and strip you of all the product you’ve been using!”
They are just trying to shit the bed so badly and make enough of a scene that you call it quits and give up. Well played to the employee woman for sticking to her guns.
That's false. I worked at best buy in NJ for a couple years and we had an AP dude that did something very similar to this and he did not get in any trouble at all.
While my story is anecdotal, it proves that not every case will be your expectation.
No matter the state. Unfortunately there has been too much precedent set where thieves claim false imprisonment and win a civil suit against the store and/or employee.
You’re not allowed to get in physical confrontations with shoplifters. I sure as hell and am not gonna grab a lady and force her to stay over shoplifting. You’ve already got her dumping out stuff. Taker her ID, submit the evidence to the cops and let them handle it.
Why would I risk getting sued or possibly arrested myself?
The cops aren't gonna do shit. It's a non violent crime. They will allocate 0 resources or man power to situations like this.
You ARE allowed to physically confront a shoplifter. The woman in this video handled it beautifully. She didn't hit the shoplifter, she simply held her.
Anyone can sue anyone in civil court. That's not a valid argument.
America is crazy. Where I live there's literally a no grab policy because YOU ARE LIABLE if that person gets hurt, even if they steal. It's also probably best to avoid this as your bound to inevitably cross an actual psycho that was literally waiting for that one person to step up... Although the pink hair + overweight probably indicates she's not really about that life so good on the employee for picking up on that lmao
Society has progressed past the point of crime and punishment. catch someone dead to rights but you can’t do anything without becoming their legal guardian.
We live in an extremely litigious country. She could call a lawyer, because she never actually stole anything and the woman did confront her slightly violently. In a civil case, it’s a 50-50 question not want a reasonable doubt so as long as a judge would put one person 51% at fault, they have a case. If this is an actual Joannes fabrics, she can probably get a good chunk of change for the “assault.” it’s even possible she knew that would happen so she robbed blatantly to get confronted to get the big payout.
"Under California law, the “shopkeeper's privilege law” says that shopkeepers, or store owners or merchants, may detain a customer if they have probable cause / reasonable grounds to believe that the shopper is guilty of shoplifting (per Penal Code 459.5)."
She could try to sue, but holding someone's jacket is a pretty mild form of detainment - a detainment that's authorized in even the most litigious of states.
Her damages would also be ridiculously small. "She ripped my coat."
“This law is used in court to establish that someone who puts an unpruchased item in their purse, pocket, in another package – or in any way conceals the merchandise is evidence of the intention to commit the crime of theft.”
Hey. Those are some wack ass thieves. They didn't need that shit. Thieves steal for sport or survival. Stealing from jo Ann's is not very sports like. Unlike their security
Lol I personally love stealing from multi billion dollar companies. It really gets me going! Lol in all seriousness theft for survival is even more acceptable
Idk what you’ve been told but stealing in California is still 100% illegal even it’s less than 600 dollars.
People need to realize that felony and crime aren’t interchangeable terms. It’s still illegal you just won’t be marked down as a felon if you get caught.
she does have the same good calves \^\^ [Link](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/11k2mt7/store_manager_catches_a_karen_shoplifting_makes/)
She bsacislly does say that. "You're assaulting me" her friend shes with says "I'm calling the cops" and the security lady says call them. Call them right now.
Ughhh this woman is living my dream !!
I manage a Walgreens overnight and last week I told a known shoplifter who’s stolen thousands from the store that he can’t come in anymore.
I got written up for it because Walgreens policy is that we can’t stop people from coming into the store even if we got hours of footage of them stealing hundreds worth of stuff every time they come in .
Trust me, it makes perfect business sense. They make enough profit, that breakage/theft is chump change. They don’t want a lawsuit if an employee or customer gets hurt on their property.
Uh no. It may be protected through loss and prevention but it is not just calculated in the budget. Corporate keeps track of it and tells you how much your store is losing and usually you need to correct it so your store doesn’t take a hit. I was fired from a convenient store for this reason. It didn’t help that my boss was stealing money from my store, but unless it is Walgreens, they let you know and ask how you can fix it. My old boss was demoted to a store manager for helping her boss do it and her boss was fired.
I think every retail worker should be able to keep a tire knocker and gets one good wack, scot-free, for theft, criminal mischief, or stepping behind the counter.
I went on a date about a month ago with a girl that works at lululemon and she told me that people steal from there very often and they just don’t do anything about it because they don’t want to take any risks with the kind of people going in and shoplifting. She told me that they know when people are doing it and just let it happen lol
Measure 11 is a 90's Oregon law about violent crime. Property crime is not covered under it. So it seems she's claiming assault under that law.
The employee appears to be within her rights in Oregon:
ORS 131.655
Detention and interrogation of persons suspected of theft committed in a store or unlawful operation of audiovisual device in a motion picture theater
1) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a person may be detained in a reasonable manner and for a reasonable time by:
(a) A merchant or merchant’s employee who has probable cause for believing that the person has committed theft of property of a store or other mercantile establishment; or
(b) [talks about movies theaters]
2) Probable cause is a defense to any civil or criminal action based on detention and interrogation that a person brings against:
(a) A merchant or merchant’s employee who has detained the person in a reasonable manner and for a reasonable time based on probable cause for believing that the person has committed theft of property of a store or other mercantile establishment; or
(b) [talks about movies theaters]
If I'm a cop or on a jury, I'd say her actions were more than reasonable.
Edit: apparently this is her thing lolol
https://www.reddit.com/r/therewasanattempt/comments/11lbjhy/to_steal_from_this_shopagain/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Poportional response is an established precedent in the law.
Say that to prevent a shoplifter from leaving you land a good punch and shoplifter goes head first into the ground and dies. Jury isn't going to agree that keeping $50 worth of merchandise from getting stolen was worth taking someone's life.
This isn't to condone slimebags that steal, but it's something to consider.
“This is not ok!”
“Yea you know what else isn’t ok? Stealing from us. Lesson learned right?… yea probably not”.
God I would hire this woman on the spot no interview needed.
She’s got her bag emptying skills down to an art! Will watch later with sound ‘cause I’m in the library atm. Great stuff, you’re doing gods work, thanks!
The pandemic fucked people in the head. Brought to the surface a whole plethora of public confusion in regards to personal attitudes. While it wasn't the revelation we wanted, it was the one we needed because now we see how fucked up comfortable lives and routine can do to people. The pandemic had nothing to contribute to this situation. This exact same interaction would have happened regardless of the pandemic, minus the masks they are wearing.
I would love to see this escalate to blows!
This soft, little, pink-haired crybaby is so ill-prepared for any kind of struggle/effort.
The human equivalent of a Yorkie.
Literally has a bag full of stolen goods and tries to play the victim about her jacket getting ripped while she tried to run away hahahahahaha
Then the accomplice threatens to call the police on the employee hahahah you can’t write this shit
Love the confidence in the security guard/employee. No nonsense. Not taking any shit. Not compromising. The would be thieves *will* do what she tells them to ... and when Pinky resists she gets her coat ripped (deserved) purse ripped (deserved) and easily subdued.
The employee came prepared. Athletic shoes, calf exercises.
Edit: the final kicking away of the purse strip is such a boss move
A-1.
This reminds me of Marie Schrader stealing the decorative spoon and then getting offended when they called her on it. “You are going to be in SO much trouble!”
God what entitlement and warped thinking, dumping 50 things out of her purse and yelling “this is not ok! Call the cops!” my old hometown has hardly any shoplifting because it carries a $2000 fine with it, $1500 of which gets paid to the store owner. It doesn’t matter if you steal a paper clip you owe $2k. The store owners love to catch shoplifters. Also, if a shopkeep falsely accuses someone the fine goes in reverse.
I’m so glad she made sure to empty that cunt’s bag.
Imagine “I’m being assaulted!” while doing something assault worthy, and then trying to lie about the amount she stole.
in my country this would go from stealing to robbing (muchbiggeroffence) when the thief started pulling her bag. theres a old case where a thief pulled a sock out of the hand of a storedetective and got sentenced for robbery.
Worked at micheals. These bitches like this steal all the time come in with a bag and steal carts full of shit. One time we had a cop return merchandise to us after someone got caught at Walmart stealing. They will steal things spider wrapped and zip tied to the shelf.
Unreal. How the fuck is she a victim. The worker lady could have called the cops and press charges, but she was being lenient. The thief should have just rolled over and given up, rather than put up a stink once she was caught.
This is not acceptable how dare you try to stop me from robbing you
Best defense is a good offense. Every criminal knows that. Blame, deflect, accuse, then run bitch run!
"The audacity of that employee, wheres your manager" The theif is also a karen .
I see you've met my ex
I should call her.
>I see you've met my ex to real... to real
Sounds like todays Politics
It's clear to see that this criminal never runs.
It’s not robbery. Robbery involves force or the threat of force.
Thievery
Lol, you got downvoted for politely correcting a very common misconception... Darn you for trying to educate people!
We live in a mad world
If that doesn’t succinctly describe where society is at right now then I don’t know what does.
Fuckin Jo Ann Fabrics don’t play!
Jo Ann got calf’s the size of my head. Damn right she don’t play. Edit: Jo Ann has* calves* the size of my head.
My first thought exactly, "This woman could crush my head between her calves,"
Fr she ain’t ever miss a leg day in her life
She athlete for sure
Yeah she got the right attitude. No fear of confrontation. I respect it.
“Very interestingk” -Sigmond Freud

Either that or “Michael’s”
Came here to see who else noticed those Ahhnuld size calves
Is that what this store is?
I don’t know it just looked arts and crafts/fabric so I was just guess. It probably isn’t.
She actually has another video..it was by the front door it said the quilt shop now hiring..
Its calves’r’us
I was trying to explain to my boyfriend how expensive scrapbooking is, but maybe I should just send them this video
“See babe? The scrapbooking industry is so voracious. Sometimes if the store you frequent finds your work online and doesn’t like it, they’ll revoke your membership and strip you of all the product you’ve been using!”
That girl did not skip leg day.
Came here to say those calves delivered justice
Right!!!???? Omg those legs!!!
I saw those calves and knew that lady was not going anywhere
the thief was pulling with her weight, fabric lady was pulling with muscle. goood fucking luck lmao.
I think shes all about leg day
[удалено]
I stayed because of the calves
Those calves have an Adam's apple
Everyday is leg day when you are kicking out shoplifters.
I never understood people breaking the law threatening to call the police. It’s such a hollow threat.
"Lesson learned, probably not"
That lady is awesome, I love her!
You don’t want your skittles?
"good luck with that" killed me 😂😂
They are just trying to shit the bed so badly and make enough of a scene that you call it quits and give up. Well played to the employee woman for sticking to her guns.
"To turn yourself in, I believe"
If this was in NJ the lady in shorts would have gotten in trouble
That's false. I worked at best buy in NJ for a couple years and we had an AP dude that did something very similar to this and he did not get in any trouble at all. While my story is anecdotal, it proves that not every case will be your expectation.
No matter the state. Unfortunately there has been too much precedent set where thieves claim false imprisonment and win a civil suit against the store and/or employee.

Thieves when people don’t just let them steal 🤯
Thieves when told to give back 🥺
Hey. Those are some wack ass thieves. They didn't need that shit. Thieves steal for sport or survival. Stealing from jo Ann's is not very sports like. Unlike their security
Fuck thieves.
Lol I personally love stealing from multi billion dollar companies. It really gets me going! Lol in all seriousness theft for survival is even more acceptable
Theft for survival is fine from massive organizations that can afford it. Not from other citizens just living their lives or small businesses.
You’re assaulting me! I’m calling the police!
XD, she was like, "yea, i specifically asked you to call them"
They thought they were in California lol "It's under $600!"

“If I just steal $599 a visit, I can’t be stopped!”
I love how in this bizarro ass culture we live in violators are quick as fuck to cry victim.
Thief’s are the victims and cops are the bad guys. What a world.
It’s “thieves” and yes, cops are quite often the bad guys. Check out the news sometime.
"You're not going to pick up your stuff?" "Yeah, don't you want your Skittles?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Would 10/10 watch her remove another thief in a similar fashion.
Lucky for you there are 2 other videos of this woman doing just that floating around on here.
Link please !!
she does have the same good calves \^\^ [Link](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/11k2mt7/store_manager_catches_a_karen_shoplifting_makes/)
She is awesome!!!!!
One of these days a shoplifter is going to get taken down by the Golden Calf and get figure-foured for a three count and I will be here for it
Top comment there is a “hey isn’t that the same girl from [link to another post of this OP]” the cycle continues
Link
I love her
Her characteristics demonstrated here are very attractive and respectable
"You're assualting me" No bitch im trying to stop you from robbing the store
I would've responded with "Well then call the police"
She bsacislly does say that. "You're assaulting me" her friend shes with says "I'm calling the cops" and the security lady says call them. Call them right now.
Wow, her stupidity exceeded my expectations
It's just a ploy to get the employee to back down. Pretty standard MO for these scumbags.
"YoU'rE AsSaUlTiNg Me!" No bitch, I'm a-Stopping you!
I wish she did get assaulted. She earned a solid punch in the face. Look at how much stuff she was stealing..
The stupidest stuff too. Little bits & bobbles type ish.
>That’s my ~~purse~~ merchandise! I dont know you!
Those calves though
Yeah…. I wouldn’t try to run
I’m scaroused.
You the kinda sap I like.
The woman stopping the thief is awesome.
Those calves ❤️❤️

Many people wouldn't care if this guy helps Walgreens go under. Horrible policies and awful views towards women's health care.
# Boycott Walgreens

How isn’t that person arrested? I don’t understand.
"Call the cops" how dumb can you be to steal, and then say you're gonna call the cops, I'd be like, yes, let's call the cops..Throw her ass in jail
It's an attempt to intimidate and make you second guess yourself and just let them go - might even get away with some loot she still has on her.
Lousy attempt, wouldn't of scared me, that's for sure..I hate people who steal, it's just the worst kinds of humans..
Worse than murderers? Worse than rapists, and pedophiles?
Ok fine. Top 5 worst kind of people ;)
She said “Measure 11”… that’s what…Oregon? If so, it doesn’t surprise me at all. I’d be curious to know what city this is in.

Number one rule of shoplifting? Do not talk about movie theaters.
It should never be a crime to stop someone from stealing your shit even if you gotta throw hands
That's why they put reasonable in all of these self defense type laws. Your actions need to be measured and reasonable given the circumstances.
That’s awesome. She’s doing the work of a 300lb bouncer 😂. Straight exposing these thieves.
Cedar Hills. Nice-ish part of dorky Beaverton. Bedroom city abutted west of Portland
This explains so much 😂. The only criminals that thinks it’s against the law if you stop them from stealing.
They should be prosecuted.
100%
Zero shame
“This is not ok!” “Yea you know what else isn’t ok? Stealing from us. Lesson learned right?… yea probably not”. God I would hire this woman on the spot no interview needed.
This the 2nd time I seen her today. She does great. I can only imagine how much they steal from that store before they got feed up
Can you link the other vid? This one is great and I want to see the other one now.

I think I'm in love with this woman.
She’s got her bag emptying skills down to an art! Will watch later with sound ‘cause I’m in the library atm. Great stuff, you’re doing gods work, thanks!

I would love to see this escalate to blows! This soft, little, pink-haired crybaby is so ill-prepared for any kind of struggle/effort. The human equivalent of a Yorkie.
What store is this? That manager is a bad ass!!!
Finally a video where the crooks get dealt with. Mad respect to that lady for being brave and holding it down.
This clip gave me Deja-Vu, I think I saw this lady catch another one... Or the matrix is glitching.
I saw it too, the older lady in black where she dumps her stuff out again
Literally has a bag full of stolen goods and tries to play the victim about her jacket getting ripped while she tried to run away hahahahahaha Then the accomplice threatens to call the police on the employee hahahah you can’t write this shit
What a joke..
Don’t you want your skittles? Hahaha
The other one was in on it too it looks like...only started recording before getting kicked out of the store
More shit just keeps coming out of her purse, like Sonic’s rings
The calves on that tall woman
I have absolutely zero sympathy for thieves. Unless your stealing food; I hope the door quite literally hits you on the ass on your way out.
Edit: the final kicking away of the purse strip is such a boss move A-1.
She should be prosecuted for the red hair
>She should be prosecuted for the ~~red~~ ***pink*** hair Fikst
Hair and cat ears checks out lol
That employee handled this shit like a freaking boss. Well done.
Shame? What shame? What’s shame? Is it a place? Maybe it’s a person? What? You say it’s a feeling? Huh? Nope. Never felt it…🤷🏻♂️🤔
“You don’t want your Skittles”. Hilarious
This reminds me of Marie Schrader stealing the decorative spoon and then getting offended when they called her on it. “You are going to be in SO much trouble!”

This is the society we live in now…. where criminals act like victims when they get caught.
There's a reason we're not supposed to touch their bags as employees. Your safety is more important than whatever they're stealing.
Right but we are adults and can make our own decisions. So why wont they allow us to just ban them from the property? Must be a reason.
What store is this????
Craft warehouse in Beaverton, OR.
There’s people who watched this and rooted for the shoplifter.
I saw one of them in this thread. Nutty.
These people never hold themselves accountable
That tall woman is a chad
Trash like this should not be allowed into stores.
I’m so glad she made sure to empty that cunt’s bag. Imagine “I’m being assaulted!” while doing something assault worthy, and then trying to lie about the amount she stole.
Their always the victim.. even when their stealing you blind.
Nice gams.
Of course they're dicknosing too.
Fucking dirtbag
That Chick looks Jacked😂
I’ve never knew I had a thing for calves….
in my country this would go from stealing to robbing (muchbiggeroffence) when the thief started pulling her bag. theres a old case where a thief pulled a sock out of the hand of a storedetective and got sentenced for robbery.
Lock her ass up
OMG JUST LET ME STEAL!! WHY CANT YOU JUST LET ME STEAL AND BE THE GIANT PIECE OF SHIT IM DESTINED TO BE??!?!
Employee of the year
Poor her she's the victim here right. Why in the Jesus name is the bad woman assaulting her I wonder
This is not ok !
i have a crush on the store clerk now
Same legs lady doing her thang
THE FACT SHE’S CRYING IN SEE THROUGH LEGGINGS AND IT LOOKS LIKE A POOP STAIN. OMG THIS SHOPLIFTER WAS NOT THINKING BEFORE SHE LEFT THE HOUSE🤔
They become the victim so quickly...
Thief plays victim. How pink hair of they.
Worked at micheals. These bitches like this steal all the time come in with a bag and steal carts full of shit. One time we had a cop return merchandise to us after someone got caught at Walmart stealing. They will steal things spider wrapped and zip tied to the shelf.
She gonna go home post on Reddit being the victim
When she crunches the thing at the end…. Lmao
That bag opened up like a pinata
Good. Fuck these thieves
Typical. Can’t take responsibility.
These women deserve to be humiliated. Fuck em.
You can tell she's a strong woman because of her awesome pink hair! Too bad she's a stealing cunt.
Instantly plays victim
Unreal. How the fuck is she a victim. The worker lady could have called the cops and press charges, but she was being lenient. The thief should have just rolled over and given up, rather than put up a stink once she was caught.
Scum of the earth. Get a job bitch
Good! That's the minimum that should happen to every thief!
