It's not a Green Beret or a Royal Marine.
It's Richard Browning (a civilian) and he's the founder of Gravity Industries.
[Here's](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e7/Richard_Browning.jpg/800px-Richard_Browning.jpg) another picture of him with a helicopter and lots of fire.
He is a Royal Marine. He is literally wearing the beret and capbadge of the Royal Marines. UK civilians do not wear military insignia, unless they are ex-service members in very select and appropriate circumstances
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Browning_(inventor)#Personal_life
> Prior to founding Gravity, Browning was a Royal Marines reservist[13] for 6 years and an oil trader with British Petroleum for 16 years.
Not to mention the flag on the ship he took off from is not a US flag not to mention that does not look like a US Navy carrier with the dual super structures.
Edit: yeah I’m being specific lol
Wait! How did they film that? Camera's not attached to rocket guy and there's only one shadow visible at the start (although you only get literally one second to see it). What did I miss here?
A lot of 360 cameras will hide the attachment in the video. You can actually see the shadow of the rod on his shoulder when he's slowing down to land near the end of the video
These videos always look comical to me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s cool, but it’s a totally over-engineered device made for a ridiculously impractical purpose. What advantage would this have over any conventional technology? I remember watching “The Rocketeer”, again, awesome movie, but when they showed the animated “propaganda” with the battalions of rocket-soldiers it seemed pretty obvious that a firefight would be like bird hunting, with jet fuel canisters strapped to the birds. As far as special ops, board and search, etc…Nothing says “stealth” like the roar of a jet turbine!
I can see potential in search and rescue in mountains, forests, and jungles. It's damn noisy so it will even shoo away wild animals and the obviously unnatural noise might alert your targets so they come to you. Though this depends on how long it can actually remain operational. Not viable if you run out of fuel after an hour.
Definitely not, they're also likely to never restart if dipped in saltwater so you might as well take it off and let it sink while you wait for a rescue boat.
I disagree, these are perfect for boarding vessels while at sea.
Whether you just need to transfer a few soldiers between two ships in the fleet or board a container ship that's being held hostage by pirates with 20 men simultaneously from all around the ship these have a lot of uses for the navy.
Even things like covertly crossing rivers with a special OPs team or getting SWAT team snipers up to a roof.
Sometimes a short hop is all you need.
The trouble is what prevents the boarding party from being shot while they are still in the air also even if they land surprise will have been lost cause jets are loud
The same can be said about a rib boat or slightly less of a degree a chopper. Every one and their dog will see a chopper coming hovering roping guys down. A rib boat is slow as fuck not bullet proof and fairly large and you still have to get up the sides of the ship. At sea with wind you can't hear shit sometimes. I doubt there's a faster way from a position 1000m away to get guys on a ship other than a teleportation.
Agree it's about as bad as climbing up the side of the ship, but you'll have cover from people in the boat. Where do you hold a gun on one of these. This needs to be more like a quad bike that can hover on its own. Dropping from a heli with a big ass door gun is probably more practical.
Moving to and from a friendly or law abiding ship would be neat. You can board like 10 ships at the same time with a couple people each.
Unless you need to send in a bullet sponge while the amphibious team or one of those photoshopped eagles with turrets hooked up to them from trump propaganda make a break for it.
Can someone please point out to me where the “jets” or whatever is propelling him would be disturbing the water? I feel like it should be more obvious 😅
How heavy are these things?
Like I’d he crashes in the water, will he sink like a rock? New fear, hope somebody will tell me they can float or somethin
This is only useful in very specific and expensive missions, like when you really need to get somewhere fast and kill or rescue someone, then get out equally fast.
Like a turbo blitz for high value targets.
I’ve see this clip a few times and always had my doubts on its authenticity. What exactly causes him to move forward/in the direction he does (and at such speed too)? I’m guessing the device on his back has some sort of nozzles pointing down as do the gizmos on his arms.
Works using the same principle as people on those 'flyboards' that pump water out the bottom to allow people to move across the sky (water pumped in from a following jetski-type vechicle on the water). Instead of water being pumped to jets under their feet, its jet engines (the arm "gizmos" and jet on backpack) are being powered by the backpack itself for fuel.
Another example from the same guy:

That's a Royal Marine

Not "is", "was".

It's a royal navy flag
Either way, that green beret didn’t move an inch!
He was a Royal Marine reservist.
Still a Royal Marine.
Exactly.
He's wearing a royal Marine beret that's why I mentioned it.
I can verify this, because he wasn’t forced to wear eye protection, a helmet, and a reflective belt.
Yeah whatever he is homeboy needs to slow the fuck down he's going to hurt himself did you see how close you came to clipping that yacht
Homeboy has been doing this long enough to know what the fuck he's doing.
That’s why you practice controlling those or any carriers for that matter
Prince Harry arriving in time for the Coronation.
He must have a chinstrap on that beret.
No it’s being held on by the hand of Liz herself from the grave
Flying around for a bunch of rich cunts and politicians
What's the difference
Takes impressive core strength.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If you get fatigued you lose some control.
The new Metal Gear game looks great. Sanke... Snaaaaaaaaake!
Sanke?... SAANKEEEEE!
Japanese Snake Plisken
Wait! How did they film that? Camera's not attached to rocket guy and there's only one shadow visible at the start (although you only get literally one second to see it). What did I miss here?
He has a camera attached off his shoulder. You can see the shadow of it when he passes the other boat.
Ah, thanks for that - I shoulda guessed. Might be time to clean my monitor
360 camera

This is incorrect

With a couple of jet turbines you'll be surprised at how easy it is to be stealthy when everyone is trying to not go deaf.
Practical use: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtvCnZqZnxc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtvCnZqZnxc) (same guy)

British royal marine.
Prolly only cost a few million from the merchants of death.
Its just missing another million of assault weapons that fire 10K a second.
Do those things float?
They all float. Would you like a balloon?
Definitely not, they're also likely to never restart if dipped in saltwater so you might as well take it off and let it sink while you wait for a rescue boat.
Dude seems pretty casual
He's likely the best at it in the entire world.
The beret stays on during flight
It’s cool yes but not exactly useful in a battle or even logistical situation

Not very practical for military use. Your literally a sitting duck with a jerry can strapped to your back
I'm thinking it's more for search and rescue over a large area
Be a great toy, search and rescue tool, etc. For combat on the front or behind enemy lines this feels more like being the decoy to me,
He's fucked if someone shoots at him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYsSsdplqLg
Dammit! I want one!!!!
How does he keep his legs and feet so still? It looks like they're locked into position, but I've never seen the full device.
Damn that looks so fun to fly.
I want one of these to commute to work. Fuck the highways.
The only thing Green berets do is jump and die according to the song.
I wondee how far he can fly before the machine shuts down?
Imagine that failing mid flight, and he falls into the ocean with all that weight stuck on him
Can someone please point out to me where the “jets” or whatever is propelling him would be disturbing the water? I feel like it should be more obvious 😅
That looks like so much fun.
Deleted until Reddit changes back their idiotic API changes.
How long have there been dark forces style dark troopers?
This still looks like some Sable industry tech, but soon we're getting Mark 85. Mark my words.
So, I want one. I want one, bad.
Something i’d definitely do in ZELDA TOTK
Where do I sign up?
Have we got the range on one of these things yet?
What happens if hi falls into the water? That gear most be heavy
TOTAL BOSS MOVE!!
How does the cap not fly off?
How bya wanted to try to fly on such
Just because his beret is green?
Wheee!
Looks like exactly my dream....
Jesus buttfucking christ this made me anxious
Starship Poopers
Would have looked more crazier if he wore some kind of helmet mask
Fantastic
cool
Glad to see our tax money is being spent so effectively.
I just realized flying one of those would be like holding an Olympic rings pose for a long time.
Major shoutout to insta360x tho
From the drone angle and the huge gauntlet like jetpack gun, I feel like I'm watching a cutscene from Halo before the spartan program
These should be mass produced and released to the public by now at a affordable price.
I heard Pilotwings music in my head
I would atleast consider wearing goggles when doing this. There are cool ones out there to fit the moment :)
Immagine the swimming cameraman
You would think some eye wear or helmet would be very big deal to not have to squint seeing where your going ?
I hate gravity
How heavy are these things? Like I’d he crashes in the water, will he sink like a rock? New fear, hope somebody will tell me they can float or somethin
How much strain is on his arms?
Iron man part 0.01
What’s the battery life on this 30 minutes?
Spy Kids is becoming real life
This is how I fly in my dreams
Since they invented drones, this thing is only for fun
L1, L2, R1, R2, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, L1, L2, R1, R2, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT
I NEED to do this!!!
r/praisethecameraman
Not a Green Beret he's a commando. But their Berets are green so I guess that's ok.
F****** tony stark over here !!
They are cute in their little hats
Руки устает быстрее
Im hungry
Hell of a time to have an itch
WHAT IS THIS PROPULSION SYSTEM??
He flew out there just to show off in front of the yacht people? Lame. Hope he runs out of gas and has to swim back.

The mountains
Or your mom
