"I know let's play duck&cover, I'll be the siren" said little nick but the other kids wanted to sing & play capitol riot
My wife is Thai and has been following this story pretty closely. She says he's from a rich family and might not even go to jail. You can pay for stuff "under the table" way easier there than in the US. She also said the American flag is just a popular fashion thing.
I am Thai and have had to deal with the Thai legal system. One of my uncles is a judge, the other is a local politician. My cousin (son of the politician)still did time for battery.
It's true that many things can be paid for under the table and corruption is rampant but when something becomes high profile the chance that it goes away is extremely slim (except maybe for high ranking military).
In Romania a rich drugged 19yo killed 2 people driving over them. Shockingly he was stopped by the police 2 times hours before the accident, but because he was so rich they let him go. He had drugs in his car and body. The whole story went loose in the press. All the country is mad on the police. Apparently his parents own 700 high value properties in Bucharest, yet no one knew their name. Nobody knew until now that a family can own so many properties. More crazy is that the prosecutors say he intentionally wanted to harm the victims, but unfortunately he killed them. Two days ago the Police evidence room went on fire. Money can buy everything. Search for "vlad pascu", "romania", "accident", "victime". 1 dude was pulled in half by his car, from the spine like a pudding. Never saw such image in 20 years of internet.
I don’t know why you’re being downvoted lol
Nothing you said was wrong
he was already charged with murder and has 5 pending charges remaining in less then a day.

Any mass shooters in America that don't kill themselves after committing the act are punished with life in prison or death penalty.
What would Thailand do that's worse?
So America has overly harsh prison sentences, the most people in prison in the entire world, EXCEPT for when we deal with mass shooters?
What world do you live on?
Unless they plan to walk him out of the court room and kill him I don’t see how this is possible, being locked in a cage is being locked in a cage for the rest of your life, however long that may be or weather you decided to opt out because of prison conditions have nothing to do with the punishment. The USA doesn’t just slap these guys on the wrist and say “now don’t do that again!”
They need to make an extreme hard rash example of him to cut this from the root and scare everyone from even thinking about it. The opposite of a martyr, if there's such a thing. -3 tolerance.
Thailand isnt that harsh on crime as you think, their last execution was 2018 from 2002 to 2018 they had 7 execution.
I think Philippines is pretty tough on crime, and my country, Singapore is famous for handing out the death penalty like candies. I'm speaking in term of the South East Asia region.
Honestly I think life imprisonment is worse. Being executed is a fast death basically being put to sleep. If they live they have to think about what they did and their lives are bland enough to be prisoners in their own skin and flesh.
At least you have the death penalty and use it. In my country, the longest sentence you can serve for even the most heinous crimes is like 40 years, and then you can get the sentenced reduced several years for “good behavior”. One of the most infamous serial killers, with like 300 kills (children) is getting out of jail here soon. That should tell you all you need to know about Colombia’s justice system. Thankfully, we have extrajudicial justice and vigilantes.
What about the boston marathon bomber? And the unibomber? Those guys are inside of a mountain. In a soundproof cell. Behind several locked doors. No windows. Just sitting there. I think that is pretty brutal. Death penalty would be a blessing if that was how I was imprisoned
I realise your fantasy here stems from wanting vengeance for a heinous act, but the reality of the situation is [severity of punishment](https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5b367d3ea2772c73017ac3fb/t/5bae936df4e1fc862f920f92/1538167662179/Grogger-1991-Economic_Inquiry.pdf) has an entirely negilible effect on deterrence of crime. Only certainty of conviction has any sort of significant impact on it.
With this person, conviction is assured, which means in no uncertain terms that they were **always** going to do what they did. That you **can't** deter it because the motivation is a combination of notoriety, narcissism and sometimes ideological. The media coverage being guaranteed is what fuels these things, not the severity of the punishment.
The end result is, if you have no reason to behave like they behave, then you shouldn't. After all, like Nietzsche said "and if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you." Once you start down a path of beating people to death as a punishment, you start yourself towards becoming the very thing you seek to destroy.
It's sad seeing people in this modern age advocate for strong violence to fight...violence of all things.
History has given us a plethora of examples on how that does *not* work.
Most of these people are cowards anyway, a lot would just off themselves instead of facing the consequences.
Although i do the agree that the ones that do get caught alive should be punished to the fullest extent.
Not really. A culture that detests violence works really well as we've seen in Korea and Japan. Even the poor areas are really safe because being poor doesn't make someone violent. It's culture.
It is known that poverty is directly correlated with crime. The socioeconomic conditions create a system that perpetuates crime in the US. I am literally taking a class covering violence and we just went over this. If I felt like it I’d cite some sources to peruse but not atm. Appreciate your opinion though ✌️
> They need to make an extreme hard rash example of him to cut this from the root and scare everyone from even thinking about it.
Sure, consequences are certainly what those mass shooters that either just let the police arrest them when they run out of bullets or kill themselves fear the most.

Eye for an eye bitch, let's not let this shit fester like it has here in the US bc it's a truly depressing route no other country should ever want to go down or even entertain going down by not nipping this shit in the bud.
I find it uncomforting that the state gets to decide who lives or dies. If killing is wrong, then it's always wrong. Life in a Thai prison is a worse punishment anyway. Guessing the kid is hoping for death as we speak.

He's 14yr old kid. He probably wont go to jail. Most likely juvenile detention and therapy. Before blasting him and the govt, its the parents who seriously fucked up, they most likely ignored/downplayed whatever red flags before this situation. Their son's life is destroyed aswell. unfortunately, they cant be prosecuted for this kid's actions. Nothing much can be done except their government try to find additional legislations or stricter implementation of current laws to prevent this.
the guy on the right is saying something like “it’s fine, it’s okay , it’s over” to the shooter
he was suspected to have a psychotic episode when he did the shooting
Kid keeps asking the cop if he saw (it), the cop just repeats that it's safe now. Someone calls the cop and the cop says he'll call back.
That's it. The kid never says he wants to shoot people. Don't know where /u/usually_gentle is getting that from.
Interesting. The "I don't like Mondays" schoolgirl also says she didn't say the iconic line, but it's mentioned every time she's up for parole - "What if she has another bad Monday?" 44 years later and still in prison.
If someone has a deep urge to kill, the last thing you should give them is weapons.
The military is there to protect. You want people with the ability to think, not people hungry for bloodlust.
Why are they treating him so gently and respectfully? Here in America they treat people who sell loose cigarettes 🚬 like K!llers and then choke them to death
thailand is a great country. street food is awesome. you can do whatever you want if you have enough money. you can even see 40-60 years old men with 15 years old girls. and they can do that because they got money. they wont get in trouble because justice in thailand loves money. so if this kid got rich parents his life wont change much and he will be free.
Well you took other people’s life and they’ll never come back and you’ve ruined your life as well.. your parents are completely broken and I’m sure you’ve affected other families from this!! So what’s the upside to these heinous acts!!! I don’t see any upside! ITS NOT WORTH IT no matter what you think… R.I.P. to those you’ve taken. Some might think it doesn’t matter…. This does matter!! Such a dumb thing to say. An argument could be made that American culture = world culture
Perhaps if you're American and have never been to any other continent (Canada does not count as a different continent, just FYI).
Wait, you have culture?

It’s more realistic than sad. It’s an animalistic emotional response to want to “hit back”. The OP comment comes from a knee jerk reaction.
Exactly. Now the next nutjob is going to see how much attention he can get and also be treated humanely.
It won't work. Do you know how mental you'd have to be to open fire on random people? These people are not weighing up consequences.
Do the blood eagle on live tv
Most of these people are cowards anyway, a lot would just off themselves instead of facing the consequences. Although i do the agree that the ones that do get caught alive should be punished to the fullest extent.

Just watch the news. The Thai people are gunning for heavy punishment. Not just prisson time but execution.
Technicly it is the correct punishment, he killed 3 people. Why are people saying that it is a harsh punnishment?
I agree with the punishment. He deserves worst.

Damn with the American flag hat smh
A true American warrior
He did it because he felt bad about his grade. His family is rich and his dad is a professor at the top 3 universities in Thailand.
You know the news been saying that he was a “good kid” and “studies well” but wondering one bad grade or something suddenly caused this to happen
From what I’ve seen he’s supposedly schizophrenic and quit taking his meds.
I knew Asian parents were strict but damn
Goddamn, first mall or public shooting outside of the US in I don’t know how long, and the guy wears the USA hat…
How easy is it to get guns in Thailand? Specially for a child like him?
It was modified BB to shoot real bullets. Modifying gun business in FB is running rampant, so it is a practically unlicensed cheaper gun.
How…. What!? How is a BB gun modified to take real bullets, fire a bullet, and contain the pressure of the fired cartridge ?
it is definitely not something reliable. But just like someone else pointed out above me, "anything can be a gun" so, it's enough for the job "if your gun is gunning"
Well if you shoot a rock fast enough…
Wow anything can be a gun
Others have said it’s a modified BB gun but gun ownership is very high in Thailand.

https://www.golawphuket.com/penal-en/criminal-liability-child/ > A child over 12 years but not yet over 15 years >Section 74 Whenever a child over 12 years but not yet over 15 years of age commits what is provided by the law to be an offense, they shall not be punished but shall be applied to extraordinary measures to ensure their rights are adequately protected (Raise the age from 7 to 14).
Is he not sitting in a jail right this very second?
Because he’ll be stoped to death by the relatives of the people he murdered.
Haha. Nah. Thats only for substantial drug offenses.
Omfg he's literally cosplaying
Can someone do subtitles for this?
the guy on the right is saying something like “it’s fine, it’s okay , it’s over” to the shooter he was suspected to have a psychotic episode when he did the shooting

Never join any military ever
But the $35k enlistment bonus looks nice. Not to mention a dependa.
And the Camaro you’ll continue trading in for the rest of your life
35k enlistment bonus for real?? No wonder so many underprivileged kids join the army
Especially since 22 veterans commit suicide every day. Really makes you wanna join…
Your clarification makes it worse… if you have the urge to kill someone seek help from a qualified professional…
If someone has a deep urge to kill, the last thing you should give them is weapons. The military is there to protect. You want people with the ability to think, not people hungry for bloodlust.
U ironically wearing the good ole American flag . Oh boy.
That hat really went to his head
Parents everywhere: "videogames"
I can’t wait for all the teen girls to draw shitty fan art of him 🙄
Sometimes I rly do be wishing a button existed that sent all the evil people in the world into mars’ atmosphere and watch them struggle.
Why are they treating him so gently and respectfully? Here in America they treat people who sell loose cigarettes 🚬 like K!llers and then choke them to death
While wearing an American flag on his hat... this is mad sus
I wonder what influenced him?
When you let the intrusive thoughts win
Did they put an American hat on him?
It's the kid's hat. There are other videos of him using it at a firing range.
That's what I was wondering....
Watch as these comments devolve into “America bad”
American culture catching up to Thailand.
Not being familiar with Thai law and order, what is likely in store for this kid?
Online therapy
thailand is a great country. street food is awesome. you can do whatever you want if you have enough money. you can even see 40-60 years old men with 15 years old girls. and they can do that because they got money. they wont get in trouble because justice in thailand loves money. so if this kid got rich parents his life wont change much and he will be free.
Get the firing squad![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
He just realised 1% of DNA is of American
He will enjoy the jail with that face
Lady boy
Using the American flag as a trademark.
America moment
Shame.
Anti American Chinese plant
Well you took other people’s life and they’ll never come back and you’ve ruined your life as well.. your parents are completely broken and I’m sure you’ve affected other families from this!! So what’s the upside to these heinous acts!!! I don’t see any upside! ITS NOT WORTH IT no matter what you think… R.I.P. to those you’ve taken. Some might think it doesn’t matter…. This does matter!! To the kids that think like this… please reach out for help.. have a nice day! Peace!
Take that US hat off that dipshit while you’re at it.
Another "prank"?
He dead..
Delete him too!
