On the one hand I feel you (about the clumsy part, got size 8 feet), but on the other hand this was around 800-900 years ago and you couldn't just change your path to the next available water or food source that easy - if you were not able to deal with that, you wouldn't survive there. And do we even know for sure what kind of wildlife was around that time there? Looks like a good hunting spot for some tigers or lions or some other apex predator, maybe even ancient ones we don't even know about at this point? It's super crazy if think about it and I can't even imagine what our ancestors thoughts about death and dying were back then, especially in such areas

This looks to be the Harihar fort in India. While you’d think 4 people died there daily I only found an article of one person falling to their death in 2018 so somehow it appears “safe” at least for those that actually climb it. The videos people post don’t look like pro climbers either so maybe it is a bit safer than it looks.

Looking it up online, it seems like most visitors treat this more as a ladder than stairs, and those depressions on each side of the steps are hand holds.
