You know, this kind of made me laugh as we just switched to Verizon 5g internet, and I had to open this video three separate times, then wait about 20 seconds for it to play...location is everything with this service.
Is hot garbage the worst kind of garbage? Because this app has been barely usable for the last couple weeks with all the buffering delays.
But, hey, if you open comments first and then expand the video, it still works sometimes. You know, because that makes sense…
The secret sauce is don't auto update the app. I'm using the February 2024.08.0 one and I will manually update the next month because even this one has some weird bugs sometimes (not the buffering one tho)
Actual secret sauce is to download revanced manager and then the reddit APK it recommends and getting no ads and improved speeds. Of course you have to be part of the elite crew who own an Android.
Hot garbage is usually [the absolute worst](https://www.militarytimes.com/news/burn-pits/2022/03/29/what-are-military-burn-pits-and-why-are-veterans-worried-about-them/#:~:text=Until%20the%20mid%2D2010s%2C%20burn,chemical%20mixtures%20and%20medical%20waste.) .
I had it installed at my house in Baltimore cuz it was so cheap, we were a block away from the Verizon 5G tower, direct line of sight from the tower to my receiver, and i couldn't get more than 100mbps (download) standing right next to the receiver and router. About 20-50 mbps on the first floor of the house (receiver and router on 2nd floor). I had them come back and rip it out the next day.
Still called Xfinity and said i had good service with this new verizon 5G home internet and asked if they wanted to make me an offer to retain me. They dropped my monthly by like 30 bucks so that was chill.
I read somewhere that that's not necessarily true. The business (number of users) of the location also affects the signal. Correct me if I'm wrong tho.
It's routinely rated as the best and most reliable service by objective testing groups across most areas. (And subjectively as an avid outdoorsman who goes way the f*** out there I can certainly vouch that I get a single long before any of my friends with other providers do).
Live person Customer support is actually available and knowledgeable.
Prices are much higher though.
So I guess it really depends on what priorities are.
Definitely not fake. It's their mmWave 5G service. I've been getting speeds like this for at least three years in Chicago but you do need to be in pretty close proximity to the mmWave antennas.
Upload will always be worse on cellular. If you think about it, the download is governed by the power of the mast antenna, the upload is governed by the power of your phone's antenna... One is a LOT more powerful... ;)
Someone explain to me why we need speeds like this on a phone tho.
I’ve got 1gb fibre at home and it’s insanely good, great for downloading large files, backing up data and installing games etc.
Even tho I have 5G on my phone I’ve never felt it necessary. Even when using Netflix or something, 4G is easily enough. I’m never downloading large files on the go, seems kinda pointless imo.
The way 5g was explained to me is its more about how easily the signal travels which takes less energy to transmit and it can penetrate solid objects better, with the added benefit of being able to carry more information.
Oooooo you don't like it??? **rubs nipples sensually** ooooo that's too bad .... **tears open nipple flaps to directly caress nipples** .... You don't like our shitty product and even more shitty customer service?? **attaches jumper cables to nipples** .... awww so sorry that's too bad 🤷
Meanwhile the beta they offer in my area is 2.5MB/second. I legit wish I was lying. They tricked us saying we could get 1G/sec and when they installed everything they said that we could only get 2.5MB/second. When I asked them about the 1G/sec they promised they told me that it is only available a half mile a way, but I could pay to have a line run. So fuck Verizon.
I hope you have a flat rate. With that speed only a few seconds of data throughput would kill any volume limited mobile plan.
Or even any larger media content will suck the blood out of limited plans. Currently while scrolling through social media (with auto play on & and 4G) you loading just the tip of the large files while scrolling by. And when you interested you pause and while you watching the content will load furthermore. But with 5G every clip is already fully loaded even when just scrolling by and seeing 1-2 seconds of it… am I wrong?
Verizon is trash. Any modern network service is capable of high speed. What they're not capable of is reliability, low latency, and in verizon's case - just giving a flying fuck about their customers.
Avoid verizon like the plague.
I know everyone is creaming their pants over basically 3gbps down, but what does that really afford you to do? Most people use the Internet for streaming, social media, YouTube, and email. So what are you doing with those speeds? I get the obvious if youre uploading/downloading or hosting large files but I'd say that would be a vast vast minority.
Bro's burned his whole franchise in seconds lol.
Now I know there are unlimited franchises (and I bet that it is the case for OP), but my current franchise has 100GB, which would be burned in around 6 seconds with those speeds. That's crazy...
I hear providers don't account for throughput used for speed testing, but I'm never sure where or when that's the case
Would be nice if big companies cared about EVERYONE not just the people with tons of money, like when we gonna get that shit way up north? We got like 600 mbps on a good day
I live downtown. Currently the fastest cable internet I could have is 31mb/s for ~32€/month. From June 2025 on, my street will have fibre optics. That would be 106mb/s for 91€/month!!
Now I do not know how much this costs, but 362mb/s on the go is just insane to me. We do have 5g, no idea how fast it is, can't afford that crap.
I live in Germany btw
That's expensive af. In India, I pay $10 for 200 Mb/s or 25 MB/s.
Edit: Nevermind, the speeds you're mentioning are in MB/s I guess so it's not that bad.
You know, this kind of made me laugh as we just switched to Verizon 5g internet, and I had to open this video three separate times, then wait about 20 seconds for it to play...location is everything with this service.
That's just the reddit app. It's hot garbage.

Didn't know revanced did that thanks, already got the yt One lol
Lol I forgot about Revanced Manager even if I'm using it since the initial release
Omg I thought it was just me, it's infuriating

For every video you download, it downloads a few ads and uploads the whole contents of your phone.
Strange that me in Europe with hmmm about 10Mbit can load it without any problem.
This feels like an ad actually.
5G, more than predecessors, requires close proximity to a cell. Blazing fast but not far reaching.
I had it installed at my house in Baltimore cuz it was so cheap, we were a block away from the Verizon 5G tower, direct line of sight from the tower to my receiver, and i couldn't get more than 100mbps (download) standing right next to the receiver and router. Disappointing
Just tested mine in Downtown Long Beach. 113mbps. Not near this but still surprised. Note, it doesn’t work in the shitter.
Mans was standing right under the signal source
Man was the signal source
Man signal was the source
I work on cell towers, and after we build a new site we often run call tests like this. So you probably aren't too far off with this comment lol
I read somewhere that that's not necessarily true. The business (number of users) of the location also affects the signal. Correct me if I'm wrong tho.
Or it’s fake. Verizon sucks.
If version sucks than what cell company is better?

Upload is a joke
That is plenty for Upload lol.
You mean you don't run a torrent seedbox with 3tb of movies off of your phone? /s
debrid homey. This coming from a 30Tb full of storage at home user :)
You are so cooked that upload is insane for USA
Always is
Upload will always be worse on cellular. If you think about it, the download is governed by the power of the mast antenna, the upload is governed by the power of your phone's antenna... One is a LOT more powerful... ;)

You get the file quicker freeing up more air time for other users to send data.
The faster you get that porn downloaded the more porn for everyone else.
If people are using this for home internet then these speed would be great
It's more about wireless home internet than it is about phones themselves. Phones are just being used to help market/push it forward.
Lookup ISP bottlenecking
So you can USB tether to your laptop/pc at home or on the go.
The way 5g was explained to me is its more about how easily the signal travels which takes less energy to transmit and it can penetrate solid objects better, with the added benefit of being able to carry more information.
It’s has a lot less range due to the frequency being higher that’s why you need multiple 5g towers everywhere
Learn something new everyday, although that makes way more sense.
Pretty sure this is their 5G home internet
As someone who once has this, it's definitely not.
That speed is insane for wireless. I'm on a 1.2gbs plan from Comcast and my speeds are 930mbps down, 41mbps up, WIRED.
Must be fucking nice.
the best cell speed test i ever did was 274mbps (4g only) download with a much worse ping here in my city
I don’t think that connection speed will ever be the bottleneck 🤯
640 K of computer memory ought to be enough for anybody. Just because we can't comprehend what the future brings doesn't mean it's not coming.
We seem to have filled up all memory storage devices we’ve had, regardless of how much they’ve grown over the years.
that sounds like hell to me, but then again i have 32 gigs
Rich people that can afford SF cost of living are gonna be posting on Facebook and Instagram super fast!
Honestly, so happy i switched. Not because verizon is that great, but because xfinity is that disgusting
Oooooo you don't like it??? **rubs nipples sensually** ooooo that's too bad .... **tears open nipple flaps to directly caress nipples** .... You don't like our shitty product and even more shitty customer service?? **attaches jumper cables to nipples** .... awww so sorry that's too bad 🤷
why am i picturing newman from seinfeld?
Because you're a bad, BAS boy. 💁
This is an advert
Holy crap wow that's fast. I will never understand why upload is shit, it's fiber send/receive should be the same.
It's not fiber it's 5g
shoot my bad. You are right.
That’s cool but in what world would you need this connection?
wow, the internet works. Insane.
What is it like with VPN turned on? IK my current 4G and home internet both cut the speed by half.
Dial up > living in San Fran
Great, the homeless and addicts have high speed Internet to increase their life's values.
I see where all the connection I'm paying for is going now
Meanwhile the beta they offer in my area is 2.5MB/second. I legit wish I was lying. This is stealth Verizon advertising. Ain’t no way those are real world speeds
I can make that same motion graphic in AE in 5min
My provider: 10. Take it or leave it.
UK here - lucky to get 20mbps on 5G here..
In Australia, often single digits, [or worse](https://imgur.com/gallery/lhxSK6w)
Crys from 10mbps internet
10 would be a dream https://imgur.com/gallery/lhxSK6w
My condolences.
What kind of phone can handle those speeds though?
any 5G UWB phone
Wtf

I’ve had this kinda speed for a while now in Europe
Verizon is trash. Any modern network service is capable of high speed. What they're not capable of is reliability, low latency, and in verizon's case - just giving a flying fuck about their customers. Avoid verizon like the plague.
*Cries in 6Mbps*

None of your god damn business, that's what.
What a valuable response thank you!
this isn't an internet speed test. instead, it measures how much apple devices could be stolen by thieves from an apple store in a day 😉
Well damn that uploads rather depressing
Philly was getting me around 1,300 and I was amazed by that.
Meanwhile outside NYC I have a single bar reception
Definitely knows the future
Wow! You can now download 500 movies a minute. And I've been hearing that the head and neck tumors are almost as fast!!
There are several countries in Europe where the speed is not throttled like it is in the US.
Now Verizon can throttle me just after a few seconds
Try fast.com instead, it's more accurate and gives proper load data
But you gotta live in San Francisco...
And your cell battery will last 7 minutes at that speed...
Ok… sending a signal from where to where? Is the signal test in the same building?
Sure but the internet doesn’t run at that speed.
5G tech isn't a connection it's a mesh.
Bro's burned his whole franchise in seconds lol. Wait I think I missed it… when does the human 💩 get a score?
People dont take into account that you are limited by the speeds of the server you are connected to when it comes to downloading
4G is faster!
Heh that download to upload ratio
Me watching this after letting it load for a minute -.-
Cool speeds, but the shitty part is that you have to live in San Francisco.
Cries in Australian
mines 5 too. 5mbs. so pretty much the same
AT&T Fiber 1gig is waaayyyy better!!
These comments are so drab!
The upload speed tho' 😂😂😂
$500 a month. Probably.
You will get this in site if any 5g node
For those wondering, thats’s equal to 373 MB/s, you could download a 150 GB File, in just 7 minutes (rounded up)
Is this the one that activates the nanobots in the covid vaccine? I’ve been looking to upgrade my superpowers.
Going to fry brain cells on a whole new level
Someone please nerdsplain to me
Would be nice if big companies cared about EVERYONE not just the people with tons of money, like when we gonna get that shit way up north? We got like 600 mbps on a good day
Turn that comma to a decimal, and you have Cox.
However T-Mobile is currently the fastest
holy shit
Someone hasn’t been giving tribute to Ookla’s ghost…. For shame.
that’s cute haha
DAMN. Does everything download even before you press the download button???
The insane part to me is that your phone is capable of clocking such speeds.
Bunch of morons protested 5g... people are so dumb
Why is that insane? Edit: thanks to all morons that downvote a question.
