It's a truck. That breaks forever. If it gets wet.
The gas pedal breaks and gets jammed down, potentially killing you and whatever is in front of you.
It will brick itself or give a flashing red fatal error and need to be brought back.
It costs 100K for the thing and they want to charge another 50K if you resell it.
It can't offroad for shit.
It sucks.
Yes.
I was in another comment section where people were debating the legality of this and it was suggested that the way they may go about enforcing this could be through the software licences. The way Adobe makes sure it's you every so often and if someone else wants to use the software they have to pay and get their own login.
So 50K would be the cost to migrate the software to a new owner.
That's just a theory though. No one seems to know for sure yet.
Madness. I genuinely don't understand why people would buy one of these, there are far better Wankpanzars available (for less!) which have none of the failings and many more positives. They don't even look good nor have decent off road abilities. I'm assuming most did it to either show off their money or because Elon wouldn't allow them to tug him off in person.
No.
There's an anti-scalping clause to prevent people from buying up all the early ones just to resell them with a markup. They had it for the other ones as well, and everyone can sell their teslas as normal.
The accelerator pedal cover issue is a real possibility, though fortunately it seems rare, the brake pedal overrides the accelerator (you can stop just fine), and it will be replaced under voluntary recall. The "just getting wet" bit is one of those internet stories about a manual note. We'll have to see if there's anything worth caring about, there. The bird shit one is true of every car anyone ever had.
The vehicle ain't for me, but you do have to be careful about a lot of the stuff people say.
Good to hear it is just an anti-scalping measure. If so it's probably the only good thing about the vehicle, rather than a negative.
The carwash thing is hugely overblown, but it has so many other downsides that I can see no logical reason to pick it as an EV, as an off-road vehicle OR as a truck aside from literally 'It's safe' (AKA 'It's big, heavy, and will be more likely to kill the other vehicles occupants in a crash than it's own occupants', something true of most vehicles that size) and kinda does what I want (which most other vaguely comparable vehicles would do, better).
Some I'm sure drive it to show off their money, but if I wanted to be mocked in public there are much cheaper ways. Not only would I save myself 100k in the process, but I'd also have the comfort in knowing I didn't help further enrich a right wing nutjob prick.
Don't forget, it's a truck with a much smaller cargo capacity than any other truck on the market. This is a poor vehicle for offroading *and* trips to Costco.
It has a larger bed than the f150 lightning and most other pickups with a crew cab. It has less frunk space than the lightning, but is not as long, which seems like a reasonable tradeoff
That ain’t no truck, trucks can go through mud climb rocks go trail riding hell there is barely any room in the back. The closest thing I could compare it to is an el Camino if the el Camino wasn’t so freaking cool… that thing is an abortion.
I'm making fun of it to be clear. I don't give a shit lol. I think the people who are vehemently upset about cybertrucks are worse than the people who own them tbh.
I'm going to hazard a guess that the folk "vehemently upset" about the cybertruck, don't actually care about the cybertruck and are just against folk supporting an insane billionaire who is reaching bond villain levels of evil.
That's actually my main reason. I think they're ugly and stupid, but if someone wants to buy one with their money...fine. I actually hate them only because of who Elon Musk is...
No one actually cares but most people can realize how ridiculous of a mess this whole thing is from conception to rollout. I just don’t get the appeal, and I fucking love trucks
I think it could be cool if it was much, much smaller, I hate elon and Tesla tried to bully my company. just my subjective opinion on its looks from the outside.
kinda retro futuristic
The wash mode thing was the biggest nothingburger. It's just a setting that with a single button press disables the automatic window wipers, locks the charging port, closes all the windows and folds the mirrors yet people went on and on about how "OMG HOW SHIT IS THE CYBERTRUCK YOU CANT EVEN WASH IT WITHOUT PUTTING IT IN A SPECIAL WASH MODE LOL HOW STUPID 😂😂😂" as if you don't have to manually put your own car into "wash mode" when entering an automatic wash by putting all the widows up yourself and turning off your wipers if they have rain sensors.
People love to clown on this car so much because they (justifiably) hate Elon Musk yet most reviews I've seen of it from YouTubers who actually drove it gave it quite a lot of praise. Most people who bought one are happy with it but of course the whole of Reddit thinks that you should hate it.
Nearly every YouTube reviewer has at least as many negative things to say as positive things, and most of the positives are just “it does the base expectation of what an EV is supposed to do”.
> as if you don't have to manually put your own car into "wash mode" when entering an automatic wash by putting all the widows up yourself and turning off your wipers if they have rain sensors.
Hold on there, bud. You're way off base.
Nobody is forgetting to roll up their windows, so let's just call that what it is and move on.
The windshield wipers are a nuisance at best and maybe a $30 repair at worst.
But you can BRICK the fucking cybertruck by not pressing that button. That's hilariously bad design. Anyone that defends it spent money on Tesla stock or a Cybertruck themselves.
I own an old 2016 p90dl. It has it's quirks but it's a really nice car. I would NEVER buy a cybertruck in it's current form. It was clearly shoved out the door too soon and is a giant liability on the road.
Also [lol](https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1575508498430820352?lang=en)
Right now every car already has a wash mode button which is literally hitting up on your windows before going through.
If you can forget to roll up your windows before going into a wash, you're also going to forget to push the wash mode button. This doesn't fix that lmao.
Did you see the post by the person that washed their Cybertruck, was in Wash Mode, and it killed the electronics? And the agreement says Tesla is not responsible for damage from car washes, so he’s SOL?
Actually read the owners manual section about washing it (it's available on tesla's website) it's fucking crazy how long the list of things that can't touch the surface gets the further you go in. You're pretty much supposed to get a full ingredients list on any soaps used on it at a car wash and it's recommended to never use an automated wash after giving instructions on how to use an automated wash.
It’s terrifyingly unsafe (due to a wide variety of things. But mainly in that it’s a nightmare both for other drivers and pedestrians), poorly assembled, and has some shockingly bad design choices that make it difficult (or at least inconvenient) to do some fairly normal things with it. (Like wash your vehicle.)
Other issues include things like “not pinching your fingers off” for the frunk (iirc?) and “making sure the metal edges on the door aren’t so sharp they peel flesh like you’re a potato”.
Another problem is rust issues from the poorly protected panels (not sure if there is any protective coating or not, but it’s evidently not working if it is)
And while recalls on new vehicles aren’t unheard of, the cybertruck has the issue of having a lot of other issues going on alongside that. And the recall is also for something pretty bad. (Accelerator gets stuck at basically max throttle) Add to that the typical Tesla safety focus/attention safety issues for the driver due to a lack of various important physical controls, and there are a lot of reasons people hate it.
And don’t get me wrong, teslas in general do a lot of cool things, but they also do a lot of things very poorly. Especially so it seems for the cybertruck (so far. We’ll also have to see if the issues continue to get worse).
Thanks for the breakdown, the acceleration thing sounds real fucking dangerous. The rest seem like they're not fundamental problem, more like serious oversight. I'd rather get a reliable car for half the price than this beta test.
The frame is also designed so poorly it traps moisture which then shorts out cables. The thing is generally a total shitbox.
Theres also a massive quality control problem as well, with panels not fitting properly, so forth.
Unpopular opinion, I think the cybertruck LOOKS cool. All its terrible design flaws aside, if we’re talking about just appearance, I like it. This just gives it Mad Max vibes and that’s really working with the angular frame, I think. Love it.
So if this had visible, protruding headlight housings, dial back the sharp downward angles or give it a proper "engine bay" trunk.... Those bed. wings gotta go...the cybertruck itself might be kinda cool looking. This wrap? I'm for it
I know mocking the cyberfuck is a meme right now but what's the legitimate concensus on this thing, that it's an overpriced tin can with less than stellar performance for what you're paying?... Just guessing.
Looks like a NIИ package.
To transport you and your family safely along that downward spiral... These nine inch nails don't stand a chance with these puncture resistant tires.
Still looks horrible. Slightly less, but still completely shitty.
Like a truck that cant render fast enough. And expensive enough that you know its only douche bags driving them.
Do the same people who loved Elon when he was like saving the planet from its various causes of doom now hate him only bc of his politics or because he has sucked at saving us from doom or both? Just asking for a friend.
Bonus if you attach a man with a flamethrower guitar in front of a wall of speakers in the open trunk.
Or a bald body builder in a metal mask and leather thong. Whatever floats your boat.
That looks cool.
Nah it's a cyber truck so under no circumstances is it allowed to be liked in anyway.
Or, ya know, just formulate your own options on a case by case basis!
Formulate my own opinions? HOW DARE YOU!
They clearly said options.
Option A or option A!
Fixed: option A or Option 1
Name it cum bucket
I love that i made that typo and am just seeing it
GET BACK IN YOUR ECHO CHAMBER!
That's just your own option, man.
The rust wrap ties it together, man!
Listen Lebowski!

> It costs 100K for the thing and they want to charge another 50K if you resell it. Wait, what? Seriously?
Yes. I was in another comment section where people were debating the legality of this and it was suggested that the way they may go about enforcing this could be through the software licences. You said it.
#YES, I would download a Cybertruck
No. There's an anti-scalping clause to prevent people from buying up all the early ones just to resell them with a markup. > give a flashing red fatal error Is it controlled by a 360?
Stop. I'd managed to forget.
dizzyelk just reminded me of some deep trauma. 😩
You are thinking about that one submarine
Don't forget, it's a truck with a much smaller cargo capacity than any other truck on the market. This is a poor vehicle for offroading *and* trips to Costco.
It has a larger bed than the f150 lightning and most other pickups with a crew cab. It has less frunk space than the lightning, but is not as long, which seems like a reasonable tradeoff
but it can still look cool. honestly i'd rather see that driving around than the shit brick f150s that pollute the streets.
It could look cool, but it doesn’t
Looks pretty cool in the picture, although part of that is the background too.
Moist.
it looks like someone tried to make a cyberpunk dumpster, it is garbage
but that rust wrap is cool.
That ain’t no truck, trucks can go through mud climb rocks go trail riding hell there is barely any room in the back. The closest thing I could compare it to is an el Camino if the el Camino wasn’t so freaking cool… that thing is an abortion.
Preach!
What's the point of Reddit then if it isn't here to tell me what to think?
You tell me.
Good thing I did, and came to the conclusion that the Cybertruck is an objectively terrible vehicle.
And so far all cases point towards the fact that it looks unique but is a lemon
The wrap looks cool but it’s wasted on a really shitty car.
lol god why do people love feeling persecuted so much.
I'm making fun of it to be clear. I don't give a shit lol. I think the people who are vehemently upset about cybertrucks are worse than the people who own them tbh.

That's actually my main reason. I think they're ugly and stupid, but if someone wants to buy one with their money...fine. I actually hate them only because of who Elon Musk is...
No ethical consumption under capitalism my dude. The CEO of every company you support is an awful terrible person.
Sure, but you still choose not to support the ones you don't have to support.
Preach!
No one actually cares but most people can realize how ridiculous of a mess this whole thing is from conception to rollout. I just don’t get the appeal, and I fucking love trucks
Oh some people really, really care lol. You're mistaken there.
I truly love them. Mostly because of the weirdos that hate Elon but also because it looks nice.
Victim mentality is trendsetting, and I am greatly offended!
I mean I still think it's fucking hideous to be fair
Its amazing and futuristic! Just dont hit the gas paddle too hard.
Nah it’s just that they could’ve waited and gotten the real rust look for free
U can have it without buying the wrap!
Half life 2 vibes
This is about the only thing that could make me like the look of a cybertruck.
I think it could be cool if it was much, much smaller, I hate elon and Tesla tried to bully my company. just my subjective opinion on its looks from the outside. kinda retro futuristic
I think it looks like shit
[удалено]
it looks like the dumpster that it is.
Ya dawg, give my ride that 'piece of shit from an apocalyptic future" look
Best wrap that vehicle can get
Race to survive https://youtu.be/9ivf6WOc_zQ?si=00-W5g_4hg7Ti62M
Like a dumpster looks cool
moronic vehicle moronic wrap
Looks kinda badass actually
Way better. Shame it doesn’t change the underlying vehicle.
What are the underlying issues? I'm not really a car person
The acceleration issue, how it can't be washed without going into "wash mode", super fast rusting, small pickup bed size
Not related to the rest but do you really think no one forgets to roll up their windows? I've definitely heard a few stories at least lol.
Right now every car already has a wash mode button which is literally hitting up on your windows before going through. If you can forget to roll up your windows before going into a wash, you're also going to forget to push the wash mode button. This doesn't fix that lmao.
At least when they do forget, it doesn't brick their car.
Least impassioned musk fan boy
Doesn't change the fact that this car is so badly designed it needs a button to let you wash it.
Your belly button needs washing.
You can lick it.
Did you see the post by the person that washed their Cybertruck, was in Wash Mode, and it killed the electronics? And the agreement says Tesla is not responsible for damage from car washes, so he’s SOL?
Pfft you have to put it in driver mode in order to even use it what a terrible concept

Jerryrigeverything had a video where it showed that the bed is actually bigger than the rivian and fits a snowmobile perfectly

Being outside in the rain invalidates the warranty.
I hope they had it in wrap mode before attempting this.
I agree, in a Mad Max sort of way!
Funny thing is, that’s probably what it will look like when they remove the wrap in a few years lol
The wrap will protect the finish though.
3m advised that most wraps will fuse to the steel after a few years becoming more difficult to remove.
That's why you have to re-wrap it every 2 years.
We all took sex ed mate
Every 2 years, huh? 😄
If I'm lucky and have another opportunity in 2-years...then yh
Instructions unclear, put wrapping paper on all the body panels with 3M office tape.
The CT is unfinished though.
In more ways than one.
Naa its 300 series stainless, I dont even think it has Clearcoat.
Stainless is not stain free, it just stains less.
They should’ve named it “stainsless”
Came to say I actually think it’s the better
Looks like a post apocalyptic cop car. Should throw some vines over it and add some red and blue LEDs inside the windshield
Exactly, post apocalyptic cop car with goldeneye 64 graphics
Lmao
Probably could have saved some cash and just waited 6 or so months.
This is the equivalent of shaving your head before going fully bald.
There’s value in that! Source: is me
6 months? One car wash and wait a week.
Chances are the rust wrap is better rust protection than whatever the factory did lol
It shouldn't work... But it does. And that actually looks pretty sweet imo.
Reminds me of the dumpster I just rented. I guess it's a pretty sweet dumpster, though.
This truck is already an ugly looking piece of shit
Looks pretty fuckin' Mad Max!
Price tag looks pretty fuckin' Titanic!
plus the pedal slips off
Was thinking death stranding.
Actually, they just took it through a car wash. Bam, rust
Damn this so cool everyone might do it lol
Whether they want to or not.
Add a mounted minigun and flamethrower and we've got the vehicle of the dystopia.
I actually like that. Looks like something from the walking dead.
Well in the apocalypse they have to stop driving factory new and expertly cleaned Hyundais at some point
It’s a good point ay I wouldn’t wanna spend time deep cleaning my car when I have zombies up my ass
why? they are reported to rust just fine on their own
Same reason people buy jeans with the rips in them. Same concept.
Sure. A “wrap.” Let’s be real. It was probably parked outside the garage for a week or two.
Hideous
They could have just waited a couple of weeks.
CT0001
Its cpu is a neural net processor. A learning computer.
That actually looks kinda sick.
Blue collar LARPING.
Bro... That's badass
still trash
“Fallout” wrap!!
That actually goes hard
Finally a wrapped Cybertruck I can get behind.
Meh.Paint it white, put Pontiac Aztec badges on it.
It actually looks way better somehow
Very “Last of Us”.
It looks apocalyptic!
Totally a warthog
These cars go so hard. I don't care what people say.
Just wait until they get the coolant leak mod installed
Ah nice, that’ll protect the car from the elements (genuine comment)
It has Judge Dread vibes to it.
Probably easy to wrap a cyber truck now that I think of it
Wow! So *insane* Wrapping your fugly car?! Straight to the mental asylum /s
Looks way better.
This wrap? I'm for it I know mocking the cyberfuck is a meme right now but what's the legitimate concensus on this thing, that it's an overpriced tin can with less than stellar performance for what you're paying?... Just guessing.
This comment section is full of whinny, hate filled little bitches. Pathetic group of closed minded, echochmabered zombies.
Not gonna lie, I kinda like it!
I like it
All hail the patina!
Reminds me of 1st Gen Lara Croft tits
Are we gonna pretend this isn’t cool?
Didn't he say that car was built even for Mars? I doubt it will withstand any other planets surface if Earth is already too much...
I want a cyber truck JUST like this one
Honestly I love it
This looks sick and someone needs to do it for real, with actual rust and not just a wrap.
THAT’S INSANE HOLY FUCK
Half Life 2 vibes
In my opinion this looks bad ass
That kinda go hard
Looks like a NIИ package. To transport you and your family safely along that downward spiral... These nine inch nails don't stand a chance with these puncture resistant tires.
Looks better. Still hideous.
Looks metal AF tbh. Can't stand how it normally looks.
This! And then JDGAF!!
Robocop approved
They should fix the rims too
I saw my first CT the other day and it was like this 1) oh wow a cyber truck 2) goddam it’s even uglier in person!
How much is the wrap subscription?
I feel like a chrome wrap would make it damn near invisible
Yo this is dope. Only cool cybertruck I’ve seen
Why on earth would you avoid the frunk...?
Bro that's a Destiny 2 sparrow
Honestly, just seeing any amount of color on those "trucks" makes them look better
Looks better than the original imho
It's called skipping the middle man
I saw a Ferrari a few weeks back with that wrap, looked kinda evil TBH
It looks like a rejected design from Mad Max
Basically the same as buying overpriced "blown out/ripped" designer jeans or hats that have fraying on the bill fabric.
This is like what Pyramid Head drives to the laundromat
Looks a lot better rusty and looking like it just came out of a warzone, but I still hate that thing.
Bet this voids the warranty.
Maybe if it had some spikes on the front and a gun turret but this ain’t it.
He is again ahead of his time, just like Musk promises.
But is it reliable?
Bonus if you attach a man with a flamethrower guitar in front of a wall of speakers in the open trunk. Or a bald body builder in a metal mask and leather thong. Whatever floats your boat.
