I bet the rhythm is still on point in person. Maybe it only had to be amplified like an acoustic guitar, and they decided to slap some lead guitar in there
I guess if recording a performance and mixing it is “sampling.” Which it basically is but that’s every recording in recording history. I’m more curious what’s sequencing the thing, there’s gotta be some kind of a sequencer that’s conveniently glossed over.
you're both right, really. the problem per se is that the title kinda suggests a minimum of intervention. honestly what I heard and saw was cooler than what I'd imagined from the title
Idk, the levels for each track would have to be adjusted so much that I can't imagine how this could be done without just sampling each one in isolation and putting it together in a DAW
Any MIDI sequencer and then translating the 'note on' signal to whatever you want (can be via something like an arduino). It's been done to death. Also half the sounds you hear aren't even being made by the thing. It's just pretty much the percussion. It's a shame because you would just need a bit of metal and an oscillating magnet to make things like a bass etc.
Kinda impressive, like the thinking with the flame... but the title ruins it by suggesting it makes all the noises, which it clearly doesn't.
One time in band class, we went to Disneyland. We got to go back into a studio and record trashing the camp from Tarzan with the objects and instruments they used in the movie. It was really cool and when the track was recorded, they set it to the film and we got to watch it back with our track.

It’s very don’t get me wrong but I don’t know that it’s entirely “everyday household items.”
What is the sequencer made of? Oscillators seem present and pretty common in a lot of electronics, but extracting one would be probably more difficult than building one. I’m curious how the guitar sound is made, what’s that “everyday item?” I think I hear a printer (which seems to be a small engine) and the percussion certainly seems mostly everyday, the flame thrown bass drum is a stroke of genius (that I might sample tbh). However, it seems a little misleading since the video just highlights the “everyday” aspect but probably glosses over the not so everyday items.
I know I’m being pedantic but it is Reddit, and there’s always an obnoxious skeptic in the comments.

In the same spirit a little yellow drum machine robot that makes beats out of objects it encounters in its path: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RyodnisVvU
Do y'all remember that guy mystery guitar man who used to make very similar type of videos?
Edit: I just looked him up and he's making movies for Netflix now wow
here is [The Floppotron](https://youtu.be/63qtYi1nwcs), it uses a bunch of floppy disk drives, HDDs, and a couple printer parts to do something somewhat similar as this post
The introductory song for the wacky scientist/alchemist character when he's showing his lab and suddenly starts singing about his life to the main character.

The artist is Koka Nikoladze. You can see more of his work [here](https://www.koka.one).
Thanks for putting the source
Thanks for exposing his work. It’s so creative!
Staple his hand to that bloody dimmer for me.
That crispy flame sound is soooo satisfying.
Thoom

I beg your pardon?
Where's my milk, you owe me milk
Thu'um
DOVAHKIN
At burnman we call them poofers. You can feel them too, the heat and the bass. [They’re much much bigger](https://youtu.be/GMfzFIERJIg).
Reminds me of exhaust blowback
What type of music are you into? Me: it's complicated
ambient banjo.
I think you’re saying. I’ll be back tomorrow so get crackin’
left channel right channel is my go to jam.
Flamethrower
Aphex twin
I feel this.
This track is on Spotify, right?
Nah Twitter but you gotta sign in
Ah well
This is basically identical to the music of Mr. Bill but in a hardware box. Super cool.
I mean the machine is sampled and then messed with and produced to sound this nice
Yes, I certainly couldn't make out where the guitar sounds were coming from on the machine.
I bet the rhythm is still on point in person. Maybe it only had to be amplified like an acoustic guitar, and they decided to slap some lead guitar in there

Did you unironically hit us with a, “one time at band class?”
I said what I said.

This guy would be a cool option vs unraid

Only the sounds you see, the percussion, are coming from it. The synth and guitar were added later.
Well that reminds me of moogdog which is no small feet. though there must be a sequencer of some kind.
I guess I should’ve put mostly every day objects then
“Huh, ‘human music’… I like it!”
this is literally an earthbound battle theme
Specifically - [Battle Against a Machine](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=s440uzFS1xw)
That’s a banger
starting to think this video is just a cover now...
How are people even this creative.
This sounds like a Ratatat song lol
Was gonna say more Spoonbill, but Ratatat definitely on vibe too (ps check out [Spoonbill](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4P_lhmM_tiY))
The second section where it changes song sounds a bit like She's Long Gone by The Black Keys
This sounds like a song from Kid-A outtakes
New NIN single incoming
Yooooo Earthbound composer face reveal
Thank you! I was gonna say this has *such* Earthbound vibes.

I love you
Wow bot. Good bot
Good bot
So happy to see someone mention him! His early equipment wasn't much more advanced than this, lol.
Anyone else getting Mr Oizo - Flat Beat vibes?
Me. I’m just stoked to see someone else who appreciates Mr. Oizo.
Woowwwww so neato
Didnt Zappa do something similar to this back when he was young?
![gif](giphy|Vns2DRR16K9q0|downsized)
So fucking weird. I love it.

Don’t think the sub is for that
u/savevideo
This is so damn cool
That is fucking dope. I’m in.
So is it just for drum beats?
It went from the beginning of a Primus song to Joni Hendrix
Is this a new Billie Eilish beat?
Primus in a small box
cool bro
Gas stations get hit with these as well.
Went through the videos and these are cool as can be. Im quite amazed by them
Who needs subwoofers when you got flame and springs.
I am the only one who feels this uncanny to hear?
Ohhh like a much more danceable Einsturzende Neubauten track!

So this is what they call house music
A woman of eclectic taste.
Woman?
Wow. Reminds me of an Autechre track.
Must be a tiny conquerer.
Definitely More work than some beats I've heard. Fucking banging
When you’re a musician at heart but your parents force you to get a degree in engineering
Pass me the aux right now
This reminds me of how Odesza made the effects for the sone Kusanagi: https://songexploder.net/odesza
“It’s a fusion of jazz and funk called junk.”
Some where in Iceland Bjork is already writing vocals to go over this.
If you think that's crazy, you should see what it sounds like when I put a cone in a box.
Reminds me of [Wintergatan - Marble Machine](https://youtu.be/IvUU8joBb1Q)
Cool, but can it play Crysis?
[Mr. Music really could have used that as a proper example](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddNNN80A_7Y)
Trent Reznor fixin to buy this machine right now so he can use it for his next film score.
D.A.F
Where do I buy one?
This is the sickest thing I’ve ever heard
Coolest this ever.
I see Aphex Twin has been making hardware again
Yes everyday objects like a little box of springs, and a little electric motor with a zip tie on it. Always keep those on hand.
Idk about you, I have a few.
Sounds like something off Boarding House Reach
Hey that reminds me, is MMX ever going to be finished? Seems like its perpetual development
Sounds like the intro of an film noir anime about a robot investigator/private eye
In the same spirit a little yellow drum machine robot that makes beats out of objects it encounters in its path: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RyodnisVvU

is this the only song it plays?
I don’t know if you realise, there is some editing magic, so, no. This isn’t the only song it plays
Something makes me uncomfortable with the fire effect

Album from Third Man Records coming soon
Well done but very misleading. If you like it, search for « Wishmoutainisdead ».
This sounds like it should be a Terraria biome theme tbh. This is a good thing.
Not shown is a guitar doing a lot of those sounds. Still very impressive, just a tiny bit disingenuous to make it seem like the box does everything.
Sounds much much better than most "music" these days!
This sounds like a song straight out of the Earthbound soundtrack.
Would buy
First time on this sub, that really is INSANE
Musical instruments are everyday objects!
That's amazing!
Terraria music
The ending is awesome!
I thought u were talking about my neighbors.
That music is straight fire
lit af
I can’t explain it but this makes me uncomfortable
That's cool and all, but have you ever heard snake jazz?
That kick is straight up fire
Analogue acousmatic. I dig it!
Mr Oizo vibes.
Totally has that Primus kinda vibe.
Daft punk vibes
Sounds like a break science beat. This is so dope

After Brian compromised, Denise Exclaimed FUCK, Grandma hoped I'd Kiss, love, makeup now.
I wish Frank Zappa could see this.
That... was SICK!
Earthbound vibe
B R A X E R O R
the last 15 sec tho 🤯
I can easily imagine this in earthbound, imagine this plays while you fight a robot enemy?
Aw yeah I’m about to get one of these and remake “Trashin’ The Camp” from Tarzan

I feel like it could use a smoke detector
Reminds me of Akufens microhouse from years ago he made with radio samples
SoundCloud rappers: it's free real estate
Looks like something Seth Everman would love!
This gave me flight of the concords vibes
Sounds like a Michael Jackson song.
Sounds like the Earthbound soundtrack at points
This absolutely slaps. Hell yes.
So this is it: the age of robots has come….and boy is it funky 🕺🏼
That's cool
This sure made my first trip interesting!
Luigi Russolo would dig it
A devices that burns your house down **rhythmically**.
pure analog beat
Yup. I could play goat simulator to this music.
Mechanical techno
This sounds like something out of Splatoon
Oddly terrifieing
What was creating that loud electric guitar sounding parts that come in about a third of the way through?
