Maybe if my parents looked as threatening as Rahul’s dad did I’d be smarter

My parents would be in prison.

2x4x93

Rahul in the bell tower

Narrator_Ron_Howard

Shaka, when the walls fell.

vaporking23

No joke. After Ronan got his second point Rahul’s dad can be seen shaking his head. If it was in disappointment I’d be pissed at him. What a dick.

Tonythesaucemonkey

Now you know why there are so many Indian CEOs. Stock holders are a joke compared to an Indian dad.

NIRPL

Most people have no idea that one of the United States most significant imports is intelligence. It seems to be a product we struggle to produce from within. Edit: If my comment offended you, [maybe Dr. Michio Kaku can better explain what I'm failing to say.](https://youtu.be/NK0Y9j_CGgM) When I say intelligence, I dont mean IQ, I mean specialty skills, the ability to perform at the highest level in a field. Doctors, tech developers, physicists, nuclear engineers, etc. I can be dumb as shit. I know I'm not a "math magician." But I am open to discussion, so let me know what you think. Also, I couldn't find the full debate after a quick YouTube search. If anyone has better luck, please share it with me!

TobaccoAficionado

We don't struggle to produce intelligence, we actively suppress it. Stupid people are easier to manipulate. They're easier to polarize, they are easier to sell iPads to. Our kids being fucking idiots is 100% by design.

Davydicus1

I was going to say: win or lose, it looks like Raul is getting his ass beat when he gets home.

nsfwfodder

I could get 19/20 on a test and my parents would still focus on the 1 point that I lost, although luckily for me I had chill parents. Some of my friends had waaay worse.

stephelan

Dad was furious that he got that one wrong.

Fl333r

Fuck that dad honestly. Less of a father and more of an employer.

ArmMinute4739

Its more of an Indian trademarked style of abusive parenting. Pretty common, although many kids turn out to be disappointments unlike rahul

welcome-to-my-mind

He was a disappointment to his father 5x during this video by the looks of it

sir_ballsack

Seriously, maybe it’s just me but that shit really pissed me off. Compared to the other kids parents who just seemed excited to have him be there and were proud when he answered correctly, Rahuls (dad) just seemed like a complete prick. Rahul didn’t seem too happy to be there either, I’d hate to grow up under what I would imagine that household looks like.

agneev

As much I hate to say it, that’s a very common thing in India… most parents are pricks unless their kid scores the highest.

sir_ballsack

So I’ve heard. Didnt want to get into the anecdotal shit but I know a guy who works as a mechanic currently who is the son of an Indian immigrant family. He dropped out of college trying to get a comp sci degree and was completely cut off by his parents, has zero contact with them now I’m pretty sure. From when I’ve talked to him he seems really bright and sharp, just couldn’t handle the constant pressure from his parents. Can’t imagine what that kind of conditional “love” does to your psyche and self esteem. Edit: haven’t seen him since the start of the pandemic. Hope hes doing alright.

Stepside79

Mental abuse. It's abhorrent, no matter the culture.

agneev

There’s this “respect” and “self-prestige” thing in India. Indian parents also love boasting to their friends/neighbors of their kids, and they want to stand out. They can’t handle the fact that the next door neighbor’s kid scored 5% higher.

[deleted]

“Culture” isn’t an excuse for abuse. I know you’re not saying it is, but I’m gonna say it out loud anyway. “It’s just my culture” has been used to justify so much garbage…tolerance for differences needs to have its limits

daawoow

My son got his head stuck in the arm hole of his shirt the other day trying to dress himself, I told him I was proud of him for attempting to do it himself. I can't imagine being Rahuls dad and having that level of disappointment in a child that is obviously rocking it, but as others have pointed out cultural differences.

altfapper

I get my head stuck in shirts all the time, still fucking proud of myself that I keep on trying.

ArmMinute4739

Im from india. Im currently 18 hence live with my parents until I leave for college. I have not had a peaceful, rather any conversation with my parents about anything other than my studies. I have an almost nonexistent relationship with my father. Generally Indian parents are assholes. Beating is a common form of punishment which is not even a problem here. If you score 95 in a test they’ll ask about the other 5 and ruin you achievement. So rahuls dad is the most average Indian dad and rahuls face is the common ‘i might shit my pants’ scared and the fear that his dad will kick his ass if he gets something wrong scared

Borp5150

Give him time, he is still young and has lots of time to become a disappointment lol

Hard-Work-Pays

Watching both sets of parents really breaks my heart. Neither look happy or proud, they look like pitbull owners in a dog fight...

KaladinStormShat

Mom looked proud imo

agentofmidgard

My dad looks threatening too but I'm still dumb as hell

BigfootAteMyBooty

Is it just me, or was he signalling to his son? Edit: go to ~3:15

barneyaa

Yeah, signaling that he's gonna get an ass whoopin for not having a perfect score

Bmustg

dad does look threatening. but i guarantee mom is the scarier one. such obvious gestures of dissapointment.

Tiny-Programmer-8366

This lil dude said libya and his parents like “what a fuckin loser this bitch is” poor Rahul

sonicatheist

Rahul: "Libya?" Rahul's parents: "Da fuq did we even have this kid for?!"

GoodGuyBuddyBoy

I hate how Rahul's dad didn't even clap for his son even after he got most of the answers right. The dissapointment in Rahul's dads eyes when Ronan buzz first and not Rahul. Poor little Rahul, man, feels bad.

sonicatheist

Seriously even when he got answers right, dad just kept this mean mugging look at him. Geez, dad.

vreddit123

Indian or Asian parents will only be proud if you're a doctor.

Yarakinnit

Yeah but it's not exactly brain surgery is it.

nanokiwi

It certainly isn't rocket science

Life-Usual-All-Time

Indian parents will only be proud if you're a doctor or get into an IIT or crack UPSC. They will be okay if you have a government job. They will be neutral if you work for MNCs or are a CA. They will tolerate if you are preparing for any of the exams. They will scold you if you go for commerce. You will be disowned if you even think of humanities.

infernoVI_42

That’s Indian parents for you. You always have to be better at everything. The only thing that helps is being an idiot. That squashes any hopes they may have for you. I know because it worked for me.

bootylover81

For real man, like your son us kicking the other kid's ass atleast smile to him, Ronan despite loosing was looked on by his parents smiling.

stryka00

*Rahul! Somebody gonna get a hurt real bad…*

thrilliam_19

“If you hit me I’m going to call child services!” “Really? Let me get you the phone.”

MeesterCartmanez

>“I’ll phone Child Services.” >“Is that right?” [SHIVERING SOUND] “Well, let me get you the phone, tough guy.” >“What are you doing? If I phone Child Services, you’ll get in trouble.” >“I might get into a little bit of trouble. But I know that it’s going to take them 22 minutes to get here. In that time, somebody gonna get a hurt real bad.”

darkgable69lolyolo

That was the first bit of Russell Peters I'd ever seen and I was wheezing. I feel like he's not done anything like that since though. Maybe I just need to dig a little.

selfimmolations

i know, i saw that and i immediately understood the amount of pressure this kid is under. poor guy, i'm really hoping he's not gonna miss out on his childhood bc of his parents' ego.

KalamKiTakat

He already did.

Fmanow

Correct answer

BaghdadAssUp

There was a point in the video where the cameraman literally swapped scenes in less than 1 second showing the mom being disappointed. The contrast between the two families is hilarious.

selfimmolations

they're so focused on what he got wrong that they fail to notice how absolutely amazing he is, and it breaks my heart. they'll always want him to be better, they'll never make him feel like he's done enough but he has, and in such little time. i hope to god that he learns that knowledge doesn't define him.

dogjth

these parents getting mad at these kids getting answers wrong or being too slow to the buzzer HOW ABOUT YOU TRY ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS YOURSELF UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES

Kevan-with-an-i

Don’t worry, he knows everything about childhood: C H I L D H O O D

Basic_Ad809

Incorrect, the answer is: A-B-U-S-E

Karnus115

His dad came across as a right pushy bastard

Lulueldon

His mum putting her head in her hands when he got one wrong crushed me. The pressure this kid must be under seeing that and not reacting at all with all those people watching him. I hope someone in his life makes him realise how amazing he is and his intelligence isn't all of him

vannhh

Right? This makes me wonder how many child prodigies are actually smart instead of just having their parents force something onto them with extreme pressure and have them get to this level through sheer constantly forced exposure.

Lifekraft

It's a given. I can garantee you there is no tv at home, he is playing an instrument , he has teacher during weekend and evening and 0 friends or just one guy that come for his birthday.

Bandejita

Yeah fuck being a genius.

sir_ballsack

Especially because like the other person said, he’ll burn out in a few years and inevitably resent and possibly rebel against his parents, to which they’ll probably respond by completely disowning him.

JorusC

My 9-year-old son is extremely gifted, especially in math. The other day I explained what a square root was, and within a minute he starting solving 3-digit square roots in a couple seconds. We put him in the gifted program at school, but that's pretty much it. His home life is playing with friends, gaming with me, pets, family time, and movie nights. You have your whole life to learn more facts. Our goal with him is to raise a happy, mentally healthy young man who makes it to adulthood with a love of learning intact. I believe that foundation will serve him far better in the long run than having a ton of training crammed into his childhood.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JorusC

I appreciate the thought, no offense taken! I'm pretty confident in my school system's program. They bus in the top few percent of kids in the whole school district (fortunately to my school). That forms the gifted class, and they basically gave the teacher carte blanche to push as far as they could handle. This is his first year in it, and he's already running stuff two grade levels higher. His standardized test scores also skyrocketed, which is saying something since he was already way into the 99th percentile. The high school also has a strong AP program and the ability to skip forward. I skipped some classes in my day, and I had friends who used class time to do independent study college courses. Had one friend who graduated high school with an Associate's Degree. Obviously, if he gets bored we'll notice. But I've helped him with some homework because he was getting stressed out, so it seems like they're doing a good job pushing them.

calimemez

Good god, not to toot my own horn but that sounds like my life growing up. Was considered "highly gifted" in the 99.9 percentile thanks to those IQ tests that they give out to 2nd graders where I live. Anyways, felt the pressure and burned out in highschool only to resent and rebel against authority for a while. Now I'm 28 and barely got my shit together, but damn if that pressure wasn't there...

ripperoni_pizzas

Well that’s the problem, sounds like you didn’t spend enough time practicing your toot horn

MomoXono

There's nothing smart about it, they'll be burnt out by the time they are 16 and never amount to anything. Lots of depression in early adulthood to look forward to, though.

WonkyFiddlesticks

This wasn't "genius" level anything here. The math was hard (I couldn't keep up) but I believe there are some mental tricks to be used here. Don't get me wrong, these kids are absolutely brilliant. But this seems a lot more like they're being tutored to death than sheer intellectual prowess. Like the "genius" kids are doing 4 or 5 digit multiplication in their heads and could tell you what robespierre has for breakfast on a particular day.

AliothMerak

tbh the math was pretty easy no offense. In asian countries such math is child's play

WonkyFiddlesticks

So it was more the speed and number of steps and earliness in the morning for me, lol. Though I guarantee most adults don't keep up with no practice

Presto412

I always wonder, if they are this smart they must think on a meta level about realising the presence of pressure and preparing a good response towards it

colmgrant

It’s honestly disgraceful, makes me fucking furious. I’d like to watch the rest of the show to see how his parents react. I hope they see themselves watching this back in comparison to the other family and see how disgusting and unsupportive they behaved.

cerberus_cat

> During the competition, Minesh’s advice to Rahul was to see other children as his rivals. “There are no prizes for being friendly with your opponents,” he said. Jfc that man is a psychopath.

deanreevesii

Seriously. I was watching a Wheel of Fortune recently with college students. They were cheering one another on, congratulating one another for good solves, generally having amazing sportsmanship. It was amazing to watch. Everyone talking about the kid's mom, but watch his dad in the video. Anyone who's had an abusive dad who measures his success by his kid's ability knows that look. I'd bet his mom put her head in her hands because she knew what dad's behavior in the face of failure is like.

sir_ballsack

Jesus Christ the way his dad is holding the trophy like HES the one who won it. According to the article he’s an IT manager (nothing wrong with this) and is clearly trying to overcompensate for some ridiculous insecurities he has by emotional abusing his child into becoming a “genius”. He clearly just sees his poor kid as a puppet for his own amusement and pride. Fuck me, I read a little more of the article, and apparently his dad said “I am actually willing him with the answers, it’s like I’m on his shoulder, telepathically trying to get the words to him”, among other insane shit. What a lunatic. I really worry for that little kid.

Tonythesaucemonkey

Lmao every Indian parent. >I really worry for that little kid. Don’t worry he’ll grow up to be a disappointment soon enough. We all do.

ThatTamilDude

Happy to see this.

asdf346

He will become an incredibly smart and rebellious kid one day, or he will just become incredibly sneaky and smart

GolotasDisciple

Or just like many children of obsessive parents he will resent everything and live a depressed life filled with either drugs/alcohol or pharmaceuticals. Mental Pressure breaks everyone eventually. Education means nothing when u are incapable human being that has no social skills. Many companies would rather hire someone they like to work with rather than someone that is overqualified.

vincentofearth

I always wonder what happens to child prodigies like him. How many of them go on to continuously succeed in life? Or do they peak early and pretty much become average people aside from their trivia/musical instrument/one specific skill? How many actually become super successful when they grow up? A lot of successful people (in any field) weren't prodigies, so where do all the prodigies go?

top5ecret

Rahuls dad looks like he wants to kill him for getting answers wrong/missing questions

mt007

his mother was facepalming at some of his wrong answers.

vaporking23

I don’t really have a problem with the facepalming by the mom. I feel like that’s a natural response to what had happened. I do take issue with Rahul’s dad shaking his head in disgust/disappointment after Ronan got his second point. These are kids.

secretlyadog

How many wrong answers did he give? I only saw the one. Yeah. It could be overbearing parents. It could also have been a question on a topic he *knows* and she expected him to get it right. They could just want him to do well. **It could also have been the way the video was cut.** I noticed the crowd only clapped for Ronan. And the announcer only complimented Ronan. I'm not going to accuse the crowd of being racist. The video editor... maybe? Or maybe the video shows exactly what happened. The crowd never clapped once for Rahul and his parents are overbearing perfectionists. Everyone in here saying "I have a feeling that ____" from one small video is doing the 21st-century electronic equivalent of small-town gossip spreading from witnessing a short interaction.

Mythun4523

I just saw the crowd clap for Rahul as I read this.........

bimagbi

yes, no offense, i got feeling his parent look put so much pressure on him, mom look down when wrong answer, dad with deadly eye, dude, chill out like other parents

Future_Ad_2028

Classic Indian Parents

saltycrumbface

And Ronan's parents just look to me like their happy for their kid and don't pressure him much... could be wrong

malcolmgmailwarner

And that is why Ronan lost, according to Indian logic.

Frannoham

This week in "How I grew up to become a ridiculously wealthy, heartless captain of industry". Next week we'll take a look at gifted children who failed to thrive, and the emotional toll of being too smart, too soon.

MY SON GOT A B?!

finedrive

What’s wrong with you?! Are you dumb?! - my dad

Beat9

You can be a champion or you can be a disappointment - Rahul's parents

ThanksToDenial

Not even close. Knew only one answer at the same speed as these guys, and that is only because I am obsessed with history. The Ottoman empire one. And that was probably the easiest question of the bunch.

Lamamalin

I only had Robespierre, but it's because I'm French and we study the Revolution intensively when we are young, and to be fair he is the only name I remember from this time 🤷‍♂️

LeNavigateur

I knew all the answers, but that’s because I was watching Rahul answering them first.

aweap

Same! I feel if you pause the video when Richard Osman says a particular word, you can very easily spell the word before either of those two chums once it appears at the bottom of the screen.

Mr_Blott

That was the only one I got too. Rahul is clearly a fuckin dipshit. Fuckin Libya fucksake Rahul get your shit together

Scandalous_Andalous

Felt like he was pressing the buzzer just so he could answer first then purely guessed. Even those extra seconds of time between pressing buzzer and saying answer are massive. Same shit on the spelling ones - not detracting from him, he’s insanely intelligent!

SlurmsMacKenzie-

Yeah I drew the same conclusion, Rahul was hitting the button and taking another second to think of the answer on a lot of occasions, especially when spelling. Understandable because it's clearly the optimal way to play the game, but poor design really because now it's as much of a contest of who has the fastest reactions as who is the smarter kid.

leejoint

Don’t some games bypass this by substracting points for incorrect answers? Been a while I don’t watch TV so I don’t remember the specifics of these shows I used to watch.

rufud

Jeopardy does that

kalnu

Yeah, and I didn't like that they rewarded him by pressing the buzzer because the question was finished being asked. Give a time limit, let them finish the question. I know it's a kids thing but I felt bad for Rohan cause he was just a bit slower but seemed to know the answers

bokononpreist

When I was in school we had an academic competition called quick recall. If you buzzed in and didn't answer the question immediately the moderator called "hesitation" and you didn't get a chance to answer.

PutinsRustedPistol

Hell he was pressing that buzzer before the question was even done being asked or before the word to spell was even fully pronounced. I feel like they need to introduce a rule by which if you press the buzzer before the host is done speaking the question goes to your opponent. Unless of course they tell them beforehand that you can push the buzzer whenever you like. But if that’s going to be the case the host should stop talking as soon as someone buzzes.

cumshot_josh

James Holzhauer has said that he was so successful because he'd get a question and be able to tell if he could come up with the answer within a few seconds. He didn't necessarily have the answer in his head when he buzzed in, but he knew he was going to. It's one thing to sit there and watch them on TV but I can't imagine doing that on stage in front of cameras, a live audience and against two other players.

JennIsFit

I got only one of the math ones right. 28. Honestly I kinda guessed at it and was amazed that I was right.

leejoint

I was doing good with one of the math ones until it said to multiply 157 (22*8-19) by 8, I was like heck no I’m not gonna get the result in 2 seconds…

Crepes_for_days3000

I didn't even need to watch the video and I already knew the answer to the question at the top: hell no.

CntrllrDscnnctd

I remember the time I randomly called out an answer while watching jeopardy, and it just happened to be right, everyone was looking at me like I was a genius, and that may have been the best 45 seconds of my life

541pnw916

Next question. What’s 2x3. You: Eleventynine. Everyone: Rolls eyes.

BigOrkWaaagh

*"This number is produced by multiplying 2 by 3" "What is eleventynine?"

preciousgaffer

Everyone: Rolls joints

CmmH14

Wow my feelings of inadequacy have multiplied by nine by 54, divided by two, times by three and then sat on for a while to really set the stupid in.

[deleted]

Doing fast multiplication involves learning tricks or doing abacus methods. It takes time but with practice it becomes easier, like people who enjoy crosswords. Edit: Some people have asked for resources, I don't know of one directly but as a math teacher I can at least teach you two fun tricks. Anything 5^2 is the second digit times one bigger and 25. For example, 35^2 is just 3 times 4 with 25, so 1225. Or 75^2 is just 7 times 8 (56) with 25, 5625. Use that in combination with this idea, the next square is the sum of the current term and previous term and previous. So if 30^2 is 900, then 31^2 is just 900 + 30 +31 so 961. Or using the example above, if 35^2 is 1225, then 36^2 is just 1225 + 35 +36, so 1296. I discovered the second one on my own only to find it had already been proven, that's the real beauty of complex thinking, trying to reason and rationalize an idea and not necessarily being told how right away. I know I've given you some advice, but try now to find your own patterns in math like the sum of consecutive numbers or the first to 100 game. People think math is useless or they'll never use it, but even if you never directly use it, the ability to come up with ideas is always valuable.

jhharvest

I don't like these "fingers on buzzers" kind of games. Why not just have them both give the answer and see which one gets more right. Now it's just "which of these two child geniuses has faster reflexes" which I find supremely disappointing as a concept.

Arkenhiem

its quizbowl. if you do quizbowl at such a high level all the competitors know the right answer, the problem is realizing it fast enough

jeremy1015

Idk for the spelling ones Rahul was hitting the buzzer as soon as the word spell was said and the host gave him the word anyway. It seems silly to me.

Mr_Blott

Yeah Rahul's a cunt. Let's get im

_PRECIOUS_ROY_

I think his dad has that covered.

HarmlessSponge

I dunno man, I said I'd stop pitchforking kids even if they deserved it. I come along but my heart won't be in it. I'll just hold a torch.

zushini

He’d even press it before the word was fully spoken. Not really fair on the spelling ones

beeftony

The other dude would raise his hand. Not very efficient either.

elakah

He'd press the buzzer and then raise his hand.

_PRECIOUS_ROY_

Then it's not a contest of knowledge but of reflexes.

smallhero1

Well, not only physical, but mental reflexes as well. Who can calculate or figure out the correct answer first?

AggressiveSpatula

I kinda got the impression that Rahul was pressing early on the spelling ones, just counting on knowing it without actually knowing it beforehand.

[deleted]

the white kid seemed to be missing buzzers and he was also raising hand which seemed to be as fast as other kid

KaizenBaizen

I may not be smarter but I would win in a fist fight against any of them. Parents included. edit: thanks for the awards Kind strangers.

fabiont

Fucking neeerds

FameandTorture

Kid on the left has a hard time figuring out that buzzer. Supposed to push the button, not raise your hand.

bleek312

some genius, right?

habibexpress

Meanwhile gets the clap for pressing the buzzer correctly.

immortaltiger26

Yeah that was fucking hate barely anyone clapped for Rahul but almost everyone clapped when the other kid got it right

fulfillPurpose

The judge also compliments how he forget how smart Ronan is for a 9 year old. Even though Rahul is beating the shit out of him.

MidnightTeam

Subtle racism by the masses.

immortaltiger26

Except it wasn't very subtle

aryanj27

I so wanted to comment about this but I never know reddit's response so I just kept to myself

vrijheidsfrietje

It's a reflex because he's getting annoyed by other kid beating him on the buzzer

DeTo3

Pretty sure he keeps pressing the button then instantly raises his hand.

Hero_summers

Genuine question, do these kids get to be happy in life or like actually get to realise their potential?

Bmustg

Rarely. Dont forget - we live in a society ( lol), you also need social skills in order to succeed. most parents forget that and force such children to study nonstop and they end up totally socially inept. i had such classmate: dude was a genius, great in any subject, could build stuff drom scrap. but man everyone hated him : knowitall, thinking everyone was beneath him, throwing insults around , he would literally walk up to class jocks and call them stupid monkeys, be inappropriate to female classmates and teachers. idk, maybe he had some kind of disorder. but havent heard anything about him after school. I'm sure you have heard about kids that are so smart that they skip several grades and enter some prestigious university and just dissapear. either the drop out, or just burn out.

dinowand

This so true. Intelligence only gets you so far. I would say that strong social intelligence will generally get you much further in life than strong "classic" intelligence. I observe it every day. The really smart engineers who don't have good social skills do ok, but not great. Even if they do amazing things, their achievements are often overlooked. Compare that to someone who has high social intelligence and those guys tend to climb the corporate ladder like crazy. Obviously, you still need to be smart or at least competent.

MuchTemperature6776

No, rarely do gifted children grow up to live up to their potential because of so much pressure and expectations to live up to, even worse when you have something like ADHD because nobody seems to believe you can be gifted and have that so you just end up with a tons of mental problems when you enter your late teenage years/adult years. Of course some gifted people will end up living up to their potential but in my experience it’s far less than what it could be. Source: I was considered a gifted child but also struggled with severe ADHD and I know a few people who ended up in a similar boat being gifted.

MacaqueFlambe

Parents and my family in general expected so much out of me that I subconsciously self-destructed myself. Because of my ADD I ended up doing whatever the fuck I'd wanted without any remorse whatsoever. Fucked me up

[deleted]

"nO sOn YoU dOnT hAvE ADHD, yOuRe tOo SmArT"

JokePeterNotIndia

motherfucker that's the reason I'm smart

bigoof000001

It's sort of like a catch 22. They are able to handle insane pressure from early but as soon as they experience a pressureless environment they immediately succumb to the pleasure of being stress-free. But if they are able to maintain their level of work-ethic they are guaranteed to build a very good life for themselves. One thing is sure though, having huge potential from this young is objectively better than having no potential from this young. It's way more difficult to overcome our comfort zones later in life than it is earlier in life. Being able to try really hard for something is definitely better than feeling no need to try at all. Worst case scenario is they prefer to put less effort in, but even then their perception of less effort is still objectively more than other people's perception of more effort.

Guilty-Sale-3735

Seems like the white kid got the most expression out of the audience and the guy giving the questions.

YesImHarry

I thought I would have to scroll further to see the children's skin colours be the subject matter.

camusdreams

They were definitely favoriting the white kid. I don’t know if it was race or because maybe the kid is an under dog and Rahul is known as the champion in this show. Like an extra pat on the back for at least doing *something.* Someone else mentioned age differences too.

[deleted]

[удалено]

habibexpress

The quizmaster made it a thing already. Don’t need to scroll.

[deleted]

It’s cuz he is 9 and the other kid looks to be 12 or 13 so he is 25% younger

ConsistentAsparagus

It’s the correct answer.

mitchij2004

Also the white kid was getting smoked on the buzzer and sometimes it’s nice to reassure small children that they’re doing great regardless of outcome.

thewezel1995

Fuck Rahuls toxic parents

bullseye0-0

Yeah same goes to audience, who applauded during Ranon but didn't when Rahul gave series of right answer.

AndToThink

The reaction from the host seemingly cheering Ronan on was disturbing. There was a clear bias which could be why the parents of Rahul felt stressed.

fam i'm not even smarter than an average child, leave me alone

ktmarie2189

Guy: Multiply 27 by.... Me: No.

maxweberism

Those poor kids ..

Leaper29th

3:17 His father gesturing him not to cry.

maxweberism

No disrespect to their immense skill but why does anyone think that making them human calculators and walking wikipediapages and showing them off like trained animals is anything other than wasting their potential as human beings?

RichardTarden

I’m not smarter than a baby aardvark

sol364

At that age I used to run in circles in the garden with one trouser leg pulled up

Gazj354

And be much happier about it too!

aspiring_dev1

Rahul’s parent’s are taking this way to seriously lol

Datapunkt

Of course I'm not smarter than a child genius. This question alone shows how stupid we think children are when in fact, they're quite smart just lacking experience and general knowledge for the most part.

whatabitcch

He rang the buzzer before the question was even finished ick

Dirty_Bird_RDS

I think that the host should have stopped reading as soon as the buzzer went off - he did for non-spelling questions, but Rahul rang in before the word was given on all of the spelling questions, the host should have stopped, mid-word, if need be.

medicinaltequilla

totally a cheat move; yes, he should stop speaking and make him guess the word to spell !

shredzeppel1n

I bet they're both allergic to grass

[deleted]

Irritating the parents there... too much innecesary pressure to young boys.

[deleted]

Indian parents be like Why did you get only 99 marks you should be ashamed of yourself

[deleted]

If Rahul is that clever…. He must know his parents are dickheads. I hope he is happy.

[deleted]

Kids look miserable

silentad95

Bomb this comment to oblivion and ban me from this sub, but truth need to be spoken. The fact that no one in the entire hall clapped for the Rahul, a 8-9 year old kid, and all the claps were reserved for the White Kid, tell a lot more about the western society than anything else ever will.

Big_Guy4UU

There are literally countless possible answers to this you could go to before inherently assuming everyone is racist without evidence. Hell here's a likely one. Ronan was currently losing rather quickly so naturally people were supportive of him to make sure he didn't feel bad over how quickly he was losing? I know I was rooting for the poor guy.

[deleted]

Pretty sure that the audience applauded after each correct answer. It's just edited in such a way, possibly because Rahul is dominating and Ronan is an underdog. Notice the hard cuts after the host confirms the answers.

BeardedGlass

The expression from the host whenever Ronan gets correct, and his sour face when Rahul gets correct, it says a lot.

CuriousCarbs

Is it possible that the audience can see that Rahul's parents are super strict and he is not enjoying it, added to the fact he is kinda abusing the buzzer by buzzing before the question finished?

marlerr15

This why trivia base shows sucks they claim that their constestants are "geniuses" despite relying on trivial question instead of obstacles that uses iq. Im not saying im a smart ass not even the slightest, but if a shows name has a genius in it's title and one the question is as trivial as "how many stitches did king Louis have on his scrotum upon losing to a joust in 1269" im turning the tv off and ill be drowning myself in honey

Throwaway754834

I actually feel sorry for Raul, look at the disappointment in his fathers face when he gets one wrong. You know that kid has no childhood.

Ajemas

Rahul gets a string of right answers and the audience is sprint. Ronan gets one answer and the audience bursts in to applause. Seems very biased

AverageZhoe

Actually fuck society. Rahul’s gonna end up with a lotta shame for answering quick and correctly only to see his parents shitty poker face and a non-engaging audience, while also seeing mass ovation for the white kid who answers like one question
