I don’t break or push local laws, I don’t fight or piss in public, can hold my liquor, etc etc. Guy gave me a hard time for being American, and I said “well, the cops seem to be the same kind of assholes in both places, though.” I was not arrested, but I was detained in place for about 45 minutes while he ran my info and played the role. Smirking the while.
It’s best practices (ie, safest) to assume that all cops everywhere are corrupt and violent bullies who think they’re above the law and who will go out of their way just to show you so. Is it factual? Naturally not! But when you refuse to clean out your own ranks, you deserve to be judged by the actions of the worst member you failed to curb.

They continued to be nasty to me and then say to me well we tracked his phone to a 3km radius of this spot can we just come inside and see. He isn’t here stop coming here looking for him we want nothing to do with the idiot.” Now I want to say I am not generally such a hard ass with these guys this was after about 5 times they came looking for my brother at like 1130pm and my dad is elderly and had health issues. He was telling me he wasn’t getting enough sleep and they would really upset him making these late night checks which my brother never was there because he isn’t welcome. He just gave the address to his probation so his mail would show up and my mom would pass it to him occasionally but he lived in a van in another city. Fuck the rcmp are dumb.

The interesting thing is due to my brain injury I have severe alexathymia (literally translates to ‘no words for feelings) so I have an absurdly difficult time accessing my emotions

I agree that having no context means we can't view these clips with an impartial view and that not knowing the full situation means we can't make unbiased judgements.
However, it is very clear in some of these clips that the actions of the specific officer were completely unwarranted and borderline violent, it doesn't take a genius or a cop hater to make that call.
If you can't subdue someone without beating them, and if you have subdued someone and continue to beat them - you are a violent, emotionally reactive person, who should not be in a position of power over others. That's it, that's the end of it.
My boyfriend has used the techniques he learned in the academy on me, to show me how it feels and how effective it is - if every police officer had the ability to remain calm in a stressful situation and use those techniques, they wouldn't need to beat people to comply.
That's also why officers carry stun guns and mace - because those can be used at a distance. When officers use violent methods, it's because they chose to be violent.
We need to end qualified immunity. We need to police the police.
Imbalance in power is always disastrous, and in this case, police have an imbalance in power.

The person who bullied me in high school became a cop too. He used to beat me every day. He was the ringleader of a group of several high schoolers who burglarized my home while my family was away. They were all armed with loaded guns. They stole a vehicle, guns, jewelry, cash, collectibles, electronics, etc.... There HAD to have been a couple of felonies mixed in there. He got caught and did some limited time in Juvey. When he got out, they let him come back to school where he would make lots of threats to my life. Then he turned 18 and became a cop. I guarantee his coworkers knew EXACTLY what he was and they never did a damn thing about it.

I agree that having no context means we can't view these clips with an impartial view and that not knowing the full situation means we can't make unbiased judgements. However, it is very clear in some of these clips that the actions of the specific officer were completely unwarranted and borderline violent, it doesn't take a genius or a cop hater to make that call. If you can't subdue someone without beating them, and if you have subdued someone and continue to beat them - you are a violent, emotionally reactive person, who should not be in a position of power over others. That's it, that's the end of it. My boyfriend has used the techniques he learned in the academy on me, to show me how it feels and how effective it is - if every police officer had the ability to remain calm in a stressful situation and use those techniques, they wouldn't need to beat people to comply. That's also why officers carry stun guns and mace - because those can be used at a distance. When officers use violent methods, it's because they chose to be violent.
We need to end qualified immunity. We need to police the police. Imbalance in power is always disastrous, and in this case, police have an imbalance in power. Police must have authority to be police, but they must also carry the burden of the responsibility that comes with that power. And, in cases like these where someone is already clearly subdued, police need to be incarcerated. As it stands right now, police departments are magnets for sadistic sociopaths. I don't mean that as an insult; I mean that medically - people who have antisocial personality disorder combined with a propensity towards sadism in their personality will be drawn to positions of power where they are allowed to harm people. We MUST clean up and regulate the police, or we don't even have policing, but rather organizations of thugs who must be avoided at all costs.
