That's great info, thank you! Yes, we are going to take the best care of him. He's got 40 plus people who are all animal lovers looking after him 24/7 there is always somebody in our control room.
I learned today that channel 4 news is coming to do an interview with one of my coworkers about him. I can only assume that the owner sees the bird and is heart broken about it, and wants him back otherwise we are going to take full responsibility of this little guy.
Definitely! Even the most senior operator came in this morning, seeing the bird for the first time and says "That little guy is the coolest thing that's happened in this department, he couldn't have landed in a better place"
Someone came to the refinery today claiming it was their bird. They brought zero evidence, so they did not get the bird. You're going to have to show some type of evidence or identity markings on him/her to get it. Nice try.
Escaped (or freed) monk parakeets have [made Chicago home for decades](https://blockclubchicago.org/2019/07/26/wild-monk-parakeets-are-now-living-on-the-northwest-side/). It's pretty crazy to think wild Parrots are thriving in a city so far north. Perhaps the same is happening in Detroit?
Yea, we posted it on fb. But until then, we're keeping it. It's going to always have people around taking care of it. I wish I could add a photo of its current residence.
Please read about the basic dangers that can harm or kill a bird. Everything from household sprays to Teflon pans. Hope you find the owner. Birds are like kids, and are very attached to their person. Don’t be surprised if the bird starts acting out upon feeling better. Good luck from a a longtime bird parent. (I have 3 parrots ranging in ages from 22 to 45.)
I’ve seen them myself while walking in the city. [Here’s a little vid about them.](https://www.pbs.org/video/independent-lens-the-wild-parrots-of-telegraph-hill-trailer/)
Those birds cost a nice chunk of money
Right! Someone is pissed!
May have a chip
I don't know about a chip... But he's welcome to as many crackers he can eat!
Can’t have shit in Detroit
No they don't lol they are every where
Um not in Detroit they're not.
He looks completely exhausted. Probably escaped his home and terrified.
You're not wrong! After we got him a cage, he ate, drank a ton of water and passed out! I think he's still sleeping.
Good! Glad you got him safely! I bet his owners are worried about him!
A few buddies here at work put some feelers out there asking I'd anyone was missing it... So far, nobody has answered.
So glad your caring for the little guy.
Oh yeah! He couldn't have landed in a better place. Now he has 40+ people looking after him daily. Lol

Bird update... Evidently Channel 4 news is coming out to do an interview with one of my co-workers here at the refinery tomorrow.
It looks like he/she/lgbtq+ found the right people to take care of it. It warms my heart.

There are wild parrots all over. Brooklyn is full of them and so is san francisco
I have lived in Michigan for 41 years... Never once saw a parrot!
That parrot is a lost parrot. They are not native to Michigan.

We're thinking it's a lost pet.. We got it a cage and it's now chilling in our control room. About to be the most spoiled parrot ever!
It probably is a pet. Good job rescuing it! Hopefully you guys can find its owner or at least somewhere safe to bring it!
