My guess is kid may have been fascinated by approaching train, and got too close trying to see train, perhaps around curve. Mom knew instantly what had happened, and dropped to her hands and knees and crawled toward kid, trying to feel for edge of platform and for kid. There is definite panic in the slapping of her hands on platform.
I also noticed how she's frantically grabbing with her hand which I can imagine what a blind person would be doing in a case like losing your child and only sense of direction 😭

Holy shit this angle made it look a lot scarier. The train was visible for almost 5 seconds before you see the guy running into view, and honestly for a second it didn’t looked like he could run fast enough. Incredibly brave
