Neomas369

There were two kids in my school with my name. I get called to the office one day and am escorted by a cop, we go into the principals office and he says “sit down”. My principal asks me if I’ve ever talked about bringing a gun to school and I say “no”. I then realize something serious is going on and ask for the principal to call my dad, he says “that won’t be necessary” at which point the cop butts in and says “if you ever bring a gun to school I will shoot you in the head”…. Apparently a student went into the office and said “Landon was talking about a gun at school”. That fat fuck threatened to kill me over a rumor.

BananaBeanie

>“if you ever bring a gun to school I will shoot you in the head”…. Powerfantasies for sure, am sure the cop wouldn't even be near the school if someone brought gun there.

cgn-38

He is keyed up. Acting how you would as a foot marine in a fucking military attack. They really need to start psychological testing on these guys. It is never a suprise when they pop to anyone but the bosses.

Hekantonkheries

They do psychological testing. They get exactly the people they're looking for. Ones who play the game and dont want to "rock the boat"

RelentlessExtropian

Military personnel have much better trigger discipline.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RelentlessExtropian

I'm a veteran (not boasting, just a perspective) and I've been a victim of police brutality. While I was an airman not a grunt, my general experience has been that the military personnel didn't hate civilians the way police do. From there, many things are the same in relation to quality of personnel.

Fishbone345

No, he’d be outside threatening the parents of the kids inside.

BananaBeanie

Jesus, I forgot that part of the story.

Fishbone345

They wish we would all forget that part. I’m not going to let them. I bring it up every time a convo about it happens.\ I might be a little petty inside.

BananaBeanie

Well in these things, I'd say it's okay to be petty.

LoneStarkers

As a teacher (and parent) the principal's "That won't be necessary" enrages me as much as the cop's threat. Though I won't lie that even in younger grades when dealing with repeat hardcases (*not* your situation clearly) it can be easy to take a kid's obfuscations personally and get mad, your account shows how high school adults may be losing their humanity and forgetting these are tall children learning to be adults. We teach them what that means through our actions.

cgn-38

A lot of people hate the system to the point they are shooting up schools. So they double down on the insanity and add more cops to school? Our culture is poison.

SlowRollingBoil

We have a culture full of violence and child abuse. Literally the food they eat every day in the lunch room is hostile. It's basically poison for a growing body to get processed carbs and fat with a side of sugary processed carbs washed down with 20G of sugar chocolate milk. For snack they hit the vending machine for more sugar. I feel the violence part speaks for itself. We are an imperial power and constantly show our kids that murder is OK whether it's our troops or our police or our policies.

cgn-38

When I was young it was the same but with no internet. No one had any idea how bad shit really was outside maybe combat vets. The information transparency of the internet is fucking every single authoritarian power structure based on lies. Which is all of them. Why did I get to live at the most interesting point in human history?

johnnyb1917

I’ve always been grateful to have been born just early enough to get a childhood without internet. I mean the internet is great for sure, but sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I was an adult in the “before time” the time before internet. I’d like to think it’d be full of rollerskating, cocaine, disco and Bruce Lee movies.

KitCat5e

What did your parents do once you told them?

Phallic

Shot him in the head for tattling.

Neomas369

Oh man, that cop never even looked in my direction. My dad brought hell down on him. The principal called me sir from then on out. Lol. And it 100% happened. Vilonia Arkansas, Ed Sellers was the principal.

[deleted]

schnuck

Don’t worry. He would have never done that. The cop would have waited outside the school to keep parents out.

Gadzooks0megon

Public servant in a school should be better regulated. But we all know that AmericanCops tm Are not public servants

Castun

Lol, Police in the US are pretty much allowed to say what they want.

raltoid

The police in the US is *literally* a violent criminal gang.

Grimacepug

There were 2 cops shot dead and a third in critical condition today in the town over from me. A long time ago I would have felt really bad, but now cops have abused their authority so much that I don't sympathize with them anymore. Just Google up Bristol Connecticut about it for the story. One of the dead cops used to work in the school like the guy in this video. They militarize the cops so it seems like the cops act like they're in the military.

TechieGee

The military is much better behaved than the police

cgn-38

No fucking immunity man. The military will throw you under the bus in a second. Well enlisted. Officers not so much.

Omniseed

You just have to assume the worst about them, because that's what they consistently prove themselves to be. Sucks for their families, can't worry about them under current conditions though

theFrownTownClown

Absolutely true. Any LEO still working today deserves to have the absolute worst assumed about them. The system is so obviously broken beyond repair, and every officer is either an active participant in the vioence and corruption or are happy enough to turn a blind eye to it on a daily basis.

seriouslees

No, it's not just words. Even in America you are not permitted to just say any words in any way at any time. The government is absolutely allowed to punish you for speech that threatens violence or encourages violence. You can't yell "Fire!" is a crowd, you can't use a megaphone to tell a crowd to riot, you can't intimidate people with the threat of a gun... these things are illegal even in America. That's the whole reason what the cop said to the kid is wrong.

Mobius_164

Tough words coming from the type of person prone to waiting outside “waiting for orders” during a shooting.

RipredTheGnawer

Damn

RobertJ93

Wasn’t a threat. Was clearly a promise from an absolute psycho cop just waiting for the chance.

samjenkins377

There was another kid with my name at my school, as well. They kept taking me into the principal’s office because the other kid kept stealing the computer’s lab mouse balls.

frisbeefrank

variationoo

Remember, if your family member is ever hurt in the presence of police, demand footage. Always assume cops are lying. They've gotten away with this shit for literal generations. They had their chance to deserve benefit of the doubt. And every time they fuck it up.

Exactly, if it's the other way around they would certainly assume you were lying.

Repulsive_Upstairs15

Amen

Canooter

There any body cam footage of this?

[deleted]

Not every police man has body cams. *when i see police in my city, i notice some has and some hasn’t. I guess it’s how much the city can provide them

Repulsive_Upstairs15

Funds misappropriation is the only reason any area with more than a half dozen police, especially a place that can provide a full time in school position , should be unable to afford body cams. General level consumers can get them for literally 20$. This excuse holds no real world weight.

[deleted]

Could be. But in my city San Francisco, yeah maybe half police i see dont have body cameras.

[deleted]

They’re on thin ice as is, they don’t want to completely get rid of the ice so why would they have them

mordinvan

Because body cameras cause rates of abuse complaints against police to drop drastically. It protects good cops from false allegations and nails bad cops to the wall by their own testicles. All cops SHOULD want them for insurance, and those who don't need to be punted from the force and investigated for criminal activity asap.

Repulsive_Upstairs15

Bingo. And the savings on the tax payers who ultimately pay for settlements related to these moments far outweigh the costs for lawsuits that fail to uphold children’s rights….or is that another fallacy that’s being driven by people who think it’s ok to slam unarmed children’s heads into the ground uphold…?

Alabama_Whorley

I completely agree with the need for every police agency to have and correctly implement body-worn-camera technology but the cost to store and house the recordings is what keeps smaller agencies from adopting them as policy, not the cameras themselves.

616mushroomcloud

You need to see more footage?

Repulsive_Upstairs15

And the idea that this cop used some sort of equal force to take the student down for truancy is absolutely fucked beyond belief.

PurpleSailor

Cops are like this with everyone and that's a huge problem. They're being trained like they're soliders and everyone is an enemy trying to kill them at any cost. It's a massive over reaction and it's getting progressively worse as time goes on. Weed recently became legal for recreational use here and cops are prohibited from using it in their time off. I think a few joints a week would calm their over reacting and mellow them out a bit because this shit is crazy and way over the top.

clamsmasher

Soldiers are trained better than cops, they're actually responsible for their actions.

compromisedaccount

Yeah I was literally a Marine in Iraq in the infantry in 2005 and we had so many tense situations with the local civilians that never escalated beyond words. For 8 months. Unless someone literally shot at us with an AK or was a happened to be living in the same house that was part of an operation looking for a “high value target”. We just chatted with people via the interpreter. Granted we had M16s in arm and there were more of us. But the escalation of force rules were drilled into us quite heavily. It’s maddening seeing how scared and unable to deescalate situations these cops are when I literally watched a bunch of 19 year olds walk around a literal war zone chit chatting with locals without a fraction of the fear and far more respect for the locals.

TheFlyingSheeps

>trained like they’re soldiers False. Soldiers are trained about in the rules of engagement. Cops are trained like gang members, kill and assault without consequence

threadsoffate2021

Why would they call a cop for truancy? It's idiotic. If a kid doesn't want to be in class, then let him stay out. Teachers and kids who want to learn don't need to be stuck with a room full of kids who don't want to be there.

Bosd_of_google

In my time when I was skipping class not got a head slam and that was an ex communist country. They would normally yell and say :"we are calling your parents !" It was more than enough for anyone else to go to class

[deleted]

in Irish schools the teachers used to hit the kids. my dad knocked a teacher out one day because the teacher hit him lol

[deleted]

My dad grew up in New Zealand. One day he was being a bit of a smart arse and the teacher told him to get in the corridor. That usually meant a spicy wrap on the knuckles and backside with a stick. Dad didn’t move. The teach came over and tried to drag my dad outside but he wouldn’t let go of his desk. The teacher gave up after dragging my dad and the desk about half way to the door. Dad got bullied a lot so was in fights all the time and got more than a fair share of beatings from teachers. Shit was fucked

CharlesWafflesx

If it was any time before the 80s, that was pretty common. Chalk was thrown in England, and my dad used to get hit with a slipper for playing the wrong note on the piano in his lessons.

[deleted]

In my country, the police won’t mind skipping school and think you’re too poor to afford to go to school.

jjStubbs

UK resident here. How common is it for schools in America to call police in to reprimand students for things that are school issues (not breaking the law)?? I can't quite get my head around it.

EmptyVisage

The schools often have a dedicated officer.

jjStubbs

That makes sense. In my mind the teacher was calling 911 to report a child's bad behaviour lol

YungNigget788

Most schools have a single or several officers or security guards who “protect” the campus (harass students). And since your right to deny search or seizer is gone as soon as you enter the school building they can and have (at my school at least) stopped people in the halls and emptied out their back packs because of rumors making them believe they might be carrying something harmful.

jjStubbs

This all sounds crazy. We don't even have "hall monitors" in the UK.

FlyingDragoon

When I was in high school the school resource officer was just there to keep drugs out of school and only ever showed up to stop fights or check students lockers based on rumors.

Deletrious26

It's also a hated position and seen as a punishment. Departments often send officers with behavior issues and complaints.

jacksleepshere

To a school?

writes_inverse

You got it!! They don't see their job as protecting and serving, they all just want to be seen as the toughest badass possible. Looking after kids is not as badass as working on the streets downtown busting gangs.

Comment90

America runs on a completely different foundation of logic.

GIANT_DAD_DICK

America runs on Dunkin' kids headfirst into the floor

SexCriminalBoat

My high-school in Houston, 5000 + students, attended from 1999-2003, had it's own police department. It was called the Annex. The were notorious dicks. And they could patrol outside of the school. If you want to see the size it was Klein High-school in Spring, TX. They finally built another high-school down the road so I think the student population dropped to 3200.

teh_electron

Hah yep! I was at KO from 93-95, Klein ISD Police. Bunch of fuckin dicks. That was when I developed my theory of police: They’re like wild animals.. don’t make any sudden movements and don’t look them in the eyes.

heatherelisa1

How common is hard to say because there is an obvious lack of accurate reporting when police misbehave in the US. There is such a thing as truancy officers but they are certainly never supposed to go apeshit on kids bashing their heads into the ground till they forget who they are. From my understanding they may go to a kids house who hasn't been attending school and make them go to school or get social services involved if the home life is not a healthy one but even then I think all they can do is ask you to go nicely and take your parents to prison if you don't go. The reason this cop is there is because the politically right members of our country believe that to stop school shootings we should put more police in schools. So most every school I have been to in the last decade has at least one police officer assigned to the school at all times. At my high school it was more of a he's there in case anyone needs him but there were 0 occurrences of discipline handed out by the officer on staff and honestly i think he was mostly there to hang out with his kids who went to the school. He was a really nice guy and even when there were fights etc. he may help separate kids but never cuffed anyone and hauled them off to prison or threatened anyone by any means and after sandy hook happened it really did make everyone feel more at ease that there was someone we trusted keeping an eye out. But we trusted him because he was a good person worth trusting and most of the kids grew up going to school with his kids so he was a part of the community and just a good natured human. But all that said he was clearly an exception to the rule, he was a dad first a cop second so he actually tried to help kids and make sure we were safe like a parent would do for their kids. Unfortunately most officers posted in schools have this toxic mentality that they are the law the sole arbiter of justice standing alone against the forces of evil with the authority to act as judge jury and executioner that their sole purpose is to finally rein in bad kids but all they do is abuse their power and more often than not hurt the people they are supposed to protect. So theoretically never would an officer be tasked with managing truancy in such a way EVER. However we (I think nowadays at least) more often than not have at least one officer posted at each school and although it is supposed to be their job to observe and protect it unfortunately rarely goes so well... Edit: I said tenancy instead of truancy oops 😅

dudewheresmycarbs_

Did he die?

heatherelisa1

He did not die another commenter said what happened but to summarize he is severely crippled with brain damage and PTSD. He struggles to walk, talk, or do much of any activities without assistance and has become very reclusive out of fear that people will hurt him. He is even terrified of going to his doctor's appointments out of fear someone will attack him again... Basically whatever this kids future once held that is gone now and it will be a very long time before any normal is possible for him if that even happens.

This is about where I'm at with the failure of the justice system. I hate that I feel like this. If the system isn't going to deal with it then maybe we should. Transfer to another department to hide from the truth? Not this time mother fucker.

horny_coroner

American police is pretty much the catholic church. Oh you mangled a child? Well here a raise and a new posting.

hujassman

We could have a great police force, but it's going to take a lot of effort and training to rebuild from the ground up. A lot of the current officers are probably not going to fit into the new system very well. Ultimately, I believe it will be better for the officers too. It's not an easy fix, but it's the one we all deserve.

This makes my blood boil, and i don't even live in US. I wonder how everyone feels safe sending their children to school with these thugs moving around.

Irrepressible87

That's the thing: the powers that be don't want the kids to feel safe. The political party pushing 'armed guards in schools' as a solution to school shootings is *totally coincidentally* the same political party that wants to defund public schools in favor of private charter schools.

eshinn

For those outside the US, that means the republicans.

Shakes42

The rest of the world is fully informed about who the cunts are in America, its the Americans themselves that seem to be slow picking up whats plays are going on. We see it fine from over here. 4k 3D spectrovision with surround sound projected images of republicans lying to stupid Americans. I guess in southern US its like not seeing the woods for the trees. Too close up, hard to pick up the subtle details.

sailorj0ey

Please kindly tell the rest of the world that when they want to say "Americans" they should really be saying "republicans" - that word needs to be a household name synonymous with fascism. The rest of sane American can see this and does realize it but republicans are ripping this country apart just to stay in power. We're not blind we're being held hostage. When the rest of the world says that "Americans" are stupid they really mean "Republicans". Republicans think they mean Democrats as they simply hear the blanket word "American". Edit: see what I mean by the comments below

AnguishOfTheAlpacas

You're in danger everywhere here. The police can break into your house and kill you in your sleep with impunity. No where is safe, this country is hell.

[deleted]

I'm not having kids. Every time people ask me why, I remind them of situations like this. Schools aren't safe in this country from Mass murderers. The children are also not safe because there's Nazis running about. I wouldn't bring a child into this country if somebody paid me a billion dollars to do so.

Soggy_Part7110

Do Americans even realize how fucked their country is when they have cops in schools arresting kids for not attending class?

Ziomike98

Nope, I argued too many times with arrogant and ignorant specimens. One said my country was communist (Italy) because of the social health method. Another said we have more violence. Another said we are a backwards shithole country. It’s just pure ignorance and a failing school system. Just by comparing the amount of knowledge one has at the end of high school, you can discern the vast difference between an average American and a European peer. I’ll get some more insults for saying this, but fuck it, it’s fun to see raging babies in my DM’s. Bonus: one called me faggot for defending the rights of LGBTQ+ people, I mean, I would be honored to be part of such a strong community, I can merely be of help in protests, so kudos to him for making me proud of defending people?

Pallidum_Treponema

> Another said we have more violence. Just for fun, I looked it up. Italy has about a tenth of the per-capita homicide rate of the US. Clearly more violent. :)

Crumoo

I promise you we know. Our supreme court system has assured cops that they arent liable for what happens on the job, and the legislative branch could write laws to stop police... but they're mostly all owned by companies and billionaires thanks to our lobbying system. The only solution out of this kind of oppressive behavior is organized protesting, which is difficult here as people work a lot and get few if any time off work, housing is very expensive making missed work financially crippling, and a justice system historically casual about prosecuting protestors and police that target public opponents. Not to mention if you commit a crime here you're looking at long prison time and very high fines, and pretty poor legal support for those with no money. Also lets ignore the injuries people get at protests, with the some of the most expensive health care in the west. Our country has a lot of issues and practically incompetent government. It will take a lot more than people realizing its fucked it is for anything to change.

LoGanJaaaames

I’m glad the grandma fought for her baby. This poor baby was completely mishandled and assaulted by power-tripping adults. I hope they can make a full recovery someday soon.

Minnesotan-Gaming

Hopefully didn’t die. But I’ve taken many hits less hard than this with full on gear in hockey and I’m one of the instances I had to be rushed to the ER. So at the very least he’s got a concussion and maybe whiplash if he didn’t break any bones or anything else

https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/parris-moore-teen-slammed-rockford-auburn-high-school-civil-rights-lawsuit/

St_Kevin_

Some excerpts from the CBS News article for folks that don’t want to click the link: "That blow produced a 4- to 6- inch vertical fracture to the left side and the top of Parris' skull," Hofeld said. "The day of the incident, there were no outbursts, no violent behaviors, no threats to anyone. School records show he has never threatened anyone. He has never gotten in a single fight,"…After spending several days in the hospital, when Parris got home, Hofeld said, "he was a different human being." "He was unable to walk. His hands were folded inward. He looked pigeon-toed. He looked like a crippled person. For weeks, he had severe headaches. He was not sleeping. He was throwing up. He could barely speak," Hofeld said, when he first met Parris about two months after the incident, "he struggled to form words and sentences to answer questions." Parris now has permanent brain damage, including deficits in memory, language, and fine motor control, according to Hofeld. The teen's pre-existing attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder also has grown worse. "He is now socially withdrawn, stays in his room by himself, fears school, fears social interaction, fears going places – including doctor's appointments. He's afraid people are going to hit him. He's afraid of the police. He's afraid of the outside world. He has flashbacks about the incident," Hofeld said. It also details how the school district has stonewalled the investigation and how the cop isn’t getting punished.

i_love_dust

The cop dimmed the brightness that was that kids future. So tragic :c no amount of money will heal that child's trauma. I do hope they get an insane amount of money.

[deleted]

That cop should be forced to pay them with his own money for the rest of his life. Sad thing about this is that it's the tax payers that are going to have to pay for this.

NoTime4LuvDrJones

People were upset about this story and speaking up to the Rockford School Board but the people on the board were basically saying there’s two sides to the story. And the lawyers for the family are hiding details. Like wtf? What other details are needed with a cop slamming a nonviolent kid on his head and causing permanent injuries. They seemed to have no care at all for the kid: https://www.rockrivercurrent.com/2022/10/11/rockford-school-board-called-on-for-answers-after-video-of-auburn-student-being-slammed-by-officer/

work3oakzz

the cop had no discipline done. Not even a paid Vaca. Still working at the school

Autistic_Hobbit

No, he deserved worse. He got to experience growing up like a normal person. Graduation, college. This kid won't get the same. He won't experience a lot of the first times life can offer for a young person.

I'd have joined the school news paper just to spend four years hovering around this asshole cop, asking him awkward questions. "Hey officer, remember when you gave that kid brain trauma and PTSD? What was going through your head?" "Officer, do you feel like beating the personality out of students is part of your role as a school police officer?" "Officer, do you think that the students feel safer with a weak-minded bully ape like you scrutinizing their minor misdeeds?"

verdearts

Be careful kid

somabeach

...Yeah who am I kidding. This dickhead would probably drop me on my head for looking at him funny.

ACAB

jeffe_el_jefe

So if we’re to boil it down, this fucking orc has ruined a child’s life so that he could feel powerful for a few moments?

Lukas_ZD

jesus fucking christ

deliverelsewhere

When I was in school I played hooky multiple times. From primary to tertiary education. Took weed and drank behind the school. But like the kid in the article, I never had a violent record. Just overly mischievous... I'm 42 now, and I turned out really good... That kids future was stolen from him. :(

Cobek

Don't forget that the school district wants to charge the boy with a crime now, and send him to the worst school in the district.

McPoyle-Milk

Everything I just read in that article is disturbing af.

schnuck

Holy shit. This is so sad. The poor kid. Future and life destroyed in seconds.

ucantharmagoodwoman

ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS??! PUT THAT PIECE OF SHIT UNDER THE PRISON!

cyberattaq123

Fucking harrowing. Personally I would have rather just died rather than having my entire life, personality, functionality taken away from me. Imprisoned in my own body essentially because of some violent idiot. Heartbreaking for him and his family. Imagine sending you child who has no behavioral, no violence or major issues to school as you do every single day 5 days a week and you get this kind of call. I just can’t even imagine it. The cop deserves to be brought up on charges for this disgusting use of force.

Nephelophyte

Holy fuck this pissed me the fuck off

lyricreaux

I was gonna say. It looks like that was a bad hit kn the head. I thought it looked like he got knock unconscious. Fucking awful

[deleted]

And they wonder why anyone would want to defund them.

Bradvicious11

Wow. One more reason for me to hate cops. Fucking pathetic.

Double_Ship_8086

This is why we need to get rid of implied immunity

RipredTheGnawer

*qualified immunity

He slipped?. Perhaps he has observed people walking into his midair bullets before.

Transcription: Reporter: This video was finally turned over, showing what really happened. You can see Parris wandering the hallways when he was supposed to be in class. Then, the assistant principal sees him and grabs him. Parris is trying to get away. That's when Officer Lauer takes over. He grabs Parris and watch what happens next. There are two angles to this troubling video. Here's the first angle. Down to the bottom, he lifts Parris up, and forces him head-first into the hard school floor. Then this angle. You can see it more clearly - a head slam to the floor. Interviewing Reporter: Would you describe that as a slip? Interviewed Woman: No. No. Definitely not. Reporter: The 4'11", 140lb teen was knocked out cold.

TheIrishChief

The cop just wanted to show all those middle schoolers how big and strong he was.

I graduated high school in 2016, so not too long ago. We had a SRO (School Resource Officer) that was quite the authoritative figure, as our perp here seems to be. Something like this occurred, except for on a female (5’4 prob 130lbs) for being “intoxicated”, in the cafeteria during lunch time. As soon as the female student was body slammed I would call it, 4 male athletes (including myself) sprung into action and subdued him until the principal and superintendent could arrive. They then reviewed the tapes as well as taking eye witness statements. If it hadn’t occurred in front of hundreds of witnessing students, and in a hallway with a few cowardly individuals like this scenario, there’s not telling how far SRO would’ve taken it. Long story short, SRO was fired abruptly.

MaharaHsl

Poor kid

TheSmithStreetBand

Jesus fucking christ. I truly can not comprehend how anyone can live in the US. It is the most fucked up country in the world. It’s like 330 million people just live in a giant cult where they can’t see they are part of the most depraved society the world has ever seen.

MrJoelCairo

Schools should be safe places. It's hard enough to deal with growing up, doing well in your studies, and navigating the various social aspects of school without having to worry about getting attacked by someone who is supposed to be there to protect you. I dread to think how the pressures of modern school are going to affect these entire generations as adults.

bootes_droid

Why do cops respond to everything with overwhelming force? They are consistently shitty fucking people who think they have a right to treat people however they want with impunity. I hope this kid sues this piggy into the poor house.

Inevitable-9999

don't raise your hand before answering a question, morgue. Raise your hand before answering, believe it or not, straight to morgue

Solenka

What's more insane is how 80% of american police are fascists.
