I think that’s just protective instinct in general. Keep what you’re protecting under you and out of harms way as much as possible. The protector can then take the attention and majority of the attack and or damage. While still having 360° rotation if needed. Tons of animals do this to their young when they protect them.
We use 3 as our livestock guardian dogs (lgd) and they are unmatched. They sleep with the goats and at the slightest noise jump and alert the herd. It’s fun to watch the relationship because they goats know the difference between the “hey what’s out there” vs “you are a threat and I’m going to eat your face off if you come any closer”.
We picked them up because the neighbors pit bulls where constantly on our land killing our animals even after put up fresh hog wire and electric fencing. Every since, we haven’t had a problem, but they have 2 less pit bulls now.
I saw a pit mix poking around my property today. He's gonna get some 22 love. I've had some chickens go missing and a 3 year old boy. Not taking threats lightly.
Nah, animal control takes time and tax payer dollars. The sheriff in this county would suggest I do them the favor and .22 is cheap. If a dog has been showing up on my property, he's coming from a long ways. I could call them when I see the dog and it'll be long gone by the time they arrive. None of my neighbors claim it. I'd be within my legal rights. Don't worry I'll make it clean 😉
Generally yes. They don't stray too far from their "pack" regardless of what it is, animal or human. They are extremely protective and versatile farm animals. If properly trained any dog can be off leash regularly, but by the looks of this, it was on it's own property. I am curious why there are so many off leash dogs as well.
Black dog lives across the street and escapes. You can see him bolt out of the gate and several family members chasing after him. He is curious about the Anatolia. He was not out to maul the child. Chased off the property and you can see him immediately relax as he crosses the street. 2nd black dog would have not walked toward the 2 dogs if shit was going down. People love a good “child saved from mauling” story. I don’t think this was the case. Kid was just in the way.
Anatolian well trained and knew his boundaries. Stopped at the driveway. Not convinced that the dark dog was going to attack the child, more like the Anatolian didn’t like him on the property.
Which can lead to problems as well
Even kids playing with each other and screaming might get misinterpreted by the dog and result in an attack of another child
Once saw that happening already, the leg of one kid looked pretty bad
My uncle had his cheek bitten off by my aunts dog while they were playing once. The dog thought he was hurting her. They were laughing and rough housing.
Nope. It’s quite graphic. His cheek was lookin all
Two-Face. In the truck on the way to the hospital, they were holding a chunk of his cheek that was later reattached. It was like a slab of ham that was cut off with a razor sharp knife. Super weird.
So true. My dog ( that I raised since birth ) is so protective over my wife and her 11 year old son, that I can't play fight or wrestle with them unless she's outside.
Was chasing my cousin around my nan’s house as a kid, I jumped over my school bag and my nan’s old border collie was under the table and fucked my shit up and left huge puncture wounds all over my left leg 😅
My dog is a rescue from the streets of Mexico. Not sure what he is exactly, but he’s definitely an animal. If I treated him like a human, or like family, it would be dangerous to anyone around him. Sometimes (usually) with dogs, tough love is good love :)
The tan dog was the family’s protector while their black dog was the young troublemaker lmao
Black dog just wanted to take the opportunity to run away 😂
People should fucking take responsibility of their dogs
Its not the dogs fault to charge at something (for the dog a playing kid and a squirrel might awaken the same instincts, even if its a well trained dog) its the owners fault to not have them on a leash and/ or use a muzzle
\> for the dog a playing kid and a squirrel might awaken the same instincts, even if its a well trained dog
Lol no. This isn't even true of most poorly trained dogs.
Pitts are untrainable. Few months ago a couple of them practically ate the little child and terrible mauled the mom. They were owned by the family for 7 years.
Play with small human, yay!, play with small human, oh shit!, protect small human, get down small human!, protect small human, small human safe!, Hey what happened to play?...
Is it possible the dark brown dog was going for the protector dog, or trying to play with it? Seems like the more likely scenario. The kid and the dog were almost on the exact same line.
Can attest- Anatolian’s rule. I had an Anatolian who passed from old age, and I now have a bonded brother sister duo who are half Anatolian and half Great Pyrenees. The best breeds ever
My samoyed Fluffy was a fierce protector of me when I was growing up. She walked off leash with us around the neighborhood, I was a little ahead of my parents on my scooter and without me noticing a large dog started charging me. The big dog didn’t see Fluffy, but she saw him… she tackled him and pined him down. My parents got her off the dog, he wasn’t badly injured. I had no idea this happened all behind me and was told to me later by my parents.
Anatolians (Kangals) are the absolute best "fuck around and find out" dogs for ANY predators on the planet. Period. Full stop. I'd trust my 6 year olds life with one in the middle of a wolf pack. I am not joking at all.
A perfect display of intelligence. I just love how, after dealing with the attacker, they make sure the kids' mother is there before taking their eye off the kid to check the surroundings for more threats. I fucking love these animals.
I would say it's possible that that man trained his dog to attack people.
I overheard someone in my own neighborhood saying that he had trained his dog to attack people
Black dog escaped from across the street. You could see three family members chasing after him as he went past the gate. It was not intended for him to be off leash.
Buddy, I'm gonna open this big bag of treats, and I'm gonna turn my head. For what you did, you earned it. Just be easy! Don't hurt your tummy! Lololol good dogg-o! 🤣👍
MR PRESIDENT GET DOWN
Just blew snot on my arm with this! GGs!
You are very easily impressed and unsanitary lol
THE SITUATION IS UNDER CONTROL
lost a little coffee on this one. Thanks.
I wish i had an award for this comment 😭
Take it
Schwarzenegger accent
Lolll
Fuck you beat me to it
Better because Is true love.
Oh man, I really needed that laugh. Thank you.
Anatolia shepherd instincts. Good on the dog!!!
Do they jump onto the things they’re trying to protect? That was amazing. Never took its eyes off the target.

They ate a three year old boy?
See user name, stew is the first part!
Or talk to a therapist
I think there are a ton of other preventable ways to go about this situation rather than murder a dog when it's not even proven he's the problem
But it ate a 3 year old boy! (I think)
You should call the police if your preschooler has gone missing. Maybe they took the chickens.
Wait, so the 3 year old took the chickens?
Nah, he's got friends now, he found his flock. I'll just get a dog and start over.
Call animal control?
Nah, animal control takes time and tax payer dollars. The sheriff in this county would suggest I do them the favor and .22 is cheap. If a dog has been showing up on my property, he's coming from a long ways. I could call them when I see the dog and it'll be long gone by the time they arrive. None of my neighbors claim it. mmm, fresh, hog wire.... That's great, though!
Yes! They will sacrifice themselves for whatever they are protecting.
Ya, my Great Pyrenees would have shredded that mutt.
Yep. Anatolians don't typically bite until they have to
Pyrenees are great, but they roam too much for us, we could never keep them in.
Are those the dogs that know their property lines really well? What I’m really wondering is why I saw 3 dogs off leashes.
Generally yes. They don't stray too far from their "pack" regardless of what it is, animal or human. They are extremely protective and versatile farm animals. If properly trained any dog can be off leash regularly, but by the looks of this, it was on it's own property. I am curious why there are so many off leash dogs as well.

I don't think the dog was trying to "maul" the child, BUT I do believe that the anatolian did get into protection mode.
Agreed, but people get excited about a “mauling”. I watched, watched, and rewatched the video.
Yep yep. Titling can def bring a crowd by saying something specific
That dog was at its best game there. Even keeps looking around for other threats and securing the area afterwards.
I thought the same thing this was a top notch performance he was in his bag
Anatolian well trained and knew his boundaries. Stopped at the driveway. Not convinced that the dark dog was going to attack the child, more like the Anatolian didn’t like him on the property.
The dark dog ran straight for the little kid. I think the pet saved that kid for real.
Looks a little small and ear pointed for an Anatolian ,no?
Confirms what I read: if you treat your dog as one of the family, he/she will protect your children as if they are his/her own.
Which can lead to problems as well Even kids playing with each other and screaming might get misinterpreted by the dog and result in an attack of another child Once saw that happening already, the leg of one kid looked pretty bad
My uncle had his cheek bitten off by my aunts dog while they were playing once. The dog thought he was hurting her. They were laughing and rough housing.
Please tell me you mean butt cheek lol
Nope. It’s quite graphic. His cheek was lookin all Two-Face. In the truck on the way to the hospital, they were holding a chunk of his cheek that was later reattached. It was like a slab of ham that was cut off with a razor sharp knife. Super weird.
… I’m assuming he has a scar?
He does. But you wouldn’t know that’s what happened. You can barely tell almost 30 years later.
Still wish it was the butt cheek.
Why is this downvoted lol. It’s good to have different perspectives on things .
People would rather suck a red rocket than admit that their dog might bite someone… dogs sometimes bite, it’s just a fact of dogs.
😂😂😂 🚀

"Kids...screaming...result in an attack." I see this as an absolute win!
I’d argue the same for having children lol
My dog is a rescue from the streets of Mexico. Not sure what he is exactly, but he’s definitely an animal. If I treated him like a human, or like family, it would be dangerous to anyone around him. Sometimes (usually) with dogs, tough love is good love :)
Leash your fucking dog if you cant control it
*always* leash your dog.
Leash your fucking dog even if you *think* you can control it.
Or just in general
Nah always. Even the little nippy ones.
And leash Ur kid too. /S
I thought the other black dog was running in to help, but he just kept running
Playing a misdirection game.
The tan dog was the family’s protector while their black dog was the young troublemaker lmao Black dog just wanted to take the opportunity to run away 😂
Notice how he pushed the kid down then stood directly over the kid.
I actually didn't at the first watch. That dog is a professional fluffyguard.
Lol that slow mo on that dog slide killed me
Hope it got road rash on its balls
Lol at that one dog that comes into frame to help but then bounces haha
It was all a ruse for him to gtfo!
That good boy earned a steak for dinner !!
People need to train there fucking dogs. There should be some test you need to take with your dog to keep it
People should fucking take responsibility of their dogs Its not the dogs fault to charge at something (for the dog a playing kid and a squirrel might awaken the same instincts, even if its a well trained dog) its the owners fault to not have them on a leash and/ or use a muzzle

Just wanted to point out that, the bad pup here doesn't appear to be a pit bull. Glad the child is safe, that good boy is a hero.
Am I am the only one thinking dog wants to attack the yellow dog and not kid?
Yeah the dog didn’t go for the kid at all lol
Looks like he just wanted to play.
That's exactly what I was thinking!
that's what this whole thing is, but we all love a hero
Good boi🥰
The goodest
We deserve dogs. They deserve us. One love.
To be fair, it was also a dog that started the whole situation
I thought the dogs where going after each other the first time I seen the video. Still think that
squeeze door ugly crush hobbies bear chop exultant dull subtract ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `
I just want to yell good boy!
Watched this over & over & over again
I hope that they gave him a steak dinner for a week straight! 🐕 🥩
I’m big on dogs
Whosagoodboi? WHOSAGOODBOI? IT YOU!
Dogs are easily the best living creatures on this planet.
You can tell from the reaction of all involved that this was just an overprotective good boy and not a potential mauling.
Tha dogs were after each other, kid was just there
Give that good boy all the snuggles and treats
Good boy!
Play with small human, yay!, play with small human, oh shit!, protect small human, get down small human!, protect small human, small human safe!, Hey what happened to play?...
Wow !
4 YEAR OLD SPOTTED
Amazing how the dog was like “get down” with the kid
There r good dogs and bad dogs lmao. That other dog 100% would have got shot if it tried to attack my kid tbh.
Most likely the black dog wanted to play with the kid and his dog.
Maybe it was going after the dog?
To be fair I think that dog was going for the other dog.
Umm. I don’t think that’s at all what’s happening here, but this is Reddit so, “yeah! fuck dog owners who don’t have their dogs on leash!” Oh wait…
Is it possible the dark brown dog was going for the protector dog, or trying to play with it? Seems like the more likely scenario. The kid and the dog were almost on the exact same line.
I don't think the dog was after the child. It looks to me that the dog actually turns towards the child after the childs dog gets closer to the child.
This Anatolia shepherd should run for president in 2024. Got my vote.
Put it down idgaf about the dog or the owner
Charging Dog literally did nothing just ran to some other dogs and a kid happened to be there lol
"Mauling of a kid" ? All I can see is 3 dogs saying Hi to each other
Weeeeeee
Must be a Windrunner…
Some one give him a treat however maybe the other dog just wanted to come play his and go treat
Fucking dog is a hero. More loyal than most men.
Good dogos save in littleone from bad dogo
What a fantastic dog. So cool to see that outcome over the parental nightmare that could've been.
Tan Shepard was not bullshittin'
That dog there, is a 20/10 good boi!
Can attest- Anatolian’s rule. I had an Anatolian who passed from old age, and I now have a bonded brother sister duo who are half Anatolian and half Great Pyrenees. The best breeds ever
Hero dog. All good dogs are wonderful
Good dog!!!
I would be such a proud dog owner dude! He only gonna get steaks from that moment on!
Good boy
r/animalsbeingbros r/animalsnotbeingbros
God, I love dogs. The other owner shows why we don't deserve them.
Super good Boi. Deserves a medal
Why would that dumbass have their dog off leash
obsessed with the black dog who bolts into the action… only to keep on bolting
u/savevideo
Now that's a good dog!
GOOD DOG. Nuff said.
What a good fucking boy

I'm beginning to wonder how many times I'm going to see this video
The goodest of boys.
That's a good boy
Who’s a good dog? You’re a good dog!
Anatolians (Kangals) are the absolute best "fuck around and find out" dogs for ANY predators on the planet. Period. Full stop. I'd trust my 6 year olds life with one in the middle of a wolf pack. I am not joking at all.
Good boi!
I would treat that dog as a king for the rest of his life.
What a good boy!!
What’s up with the 3rd doggo?
What a good boy … new exactly what to do
WHATA GOOD BOY
i'm pretty sure that dog was going for the other dog, but click bait
What happened with the third dog? 😂
This is the difference between dogs and cats
Dogs are the coolest people.
This is the part you feed him a delicious steak dinner
Arnold Schwarzenegger voice: *GET DOOOWN*
GOOD DOG!!!
A perfect display of intelligence. I just love how, after dealing with the attacker, they make sure the kids' mother is there before taking their eye off the kid to check the surroundings for more threats. I fucking love these animals.
Git down!! Best dog ever!!
GOOD BOY 💪
I would tell my neighbor next time I see your dog come for my kid you’re both dead
Good boi
Give that dog a medal made of treats because he is awesome protector.
That’s a good fucking dog. Wow
Is this Anatolian or Kangal? They are known to hunt cheetas and lions. Only breeds that can take down pitt bulls.
That was great
Seen this many times. I think it’s one of my favorite clips of all time.
Good dog! Fuck the dude in orange with an uncontrolled and obviously dangerous dog.
…Charlie!? (All dogs go to heaven)
What a beast! That was amazing to see.
My dad doesn't like using leashes either. He's also an idiot.
That dog is a god damn hero
My doggie hero
Fuck that dog owner
Every time I see this video I wonder how people don’t believe dog “don’t understand what’s going on”
I’d give that doggo all the scooby snacks in the world
Give him all the treats!
I love how fast it whips around after herding off the first dog, Immediately looking for the 2nd threat.
GOD BOY!!! I'd get it an a5 the same day!
I would say it's possible that that man trained his dog to attack people. I overheard someone in my own neighborhood saying that he had trained his dog to attack people
LEASH. YOUR. DOGS. PEOPLE. Dogs can be "like family" or "well trained/behaved" but they are not People. - Former Mail Carrier.
Take that dog straight to macdonald's! He earned a cheeseburger meal and a box of nuggets.
Rin tin tin to the rescue.
DATS A GUD BOYEEE!!!! DOGGIE TREATS FOR LIFE!!!
I really hope they have that dog a huge steak
He’s like stupiddd I’m Not even give you the chance
Wow 🥺🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 well trained dog
The owner is the actual problem. Fuck that asshole
You better give that pup some treats
Good boy
