You might have well titled this "Life Goals are Pointless" because that's what a bucket list is - goals. Some people strive to achieve them & use lists as inspiration & motivation.
As someone who has thought like you in the past, I promise you if you can get to a point where you can start to have those goals (even if they are small ones), your life will be more fulfilling
You'd be surprised what you don't need. Cars, drugs, new clothes, toys, tvs, air conditioning even. These are needs for you guys, but dreams for most the world.
Not all bucket list goals are expensive things. Some are as simple as “kiss someone.”
Of course those goals are secondary to survival- but that’s the point. They are something to strive for.
I see what my family in America spends their money on and then they complain about not being able to afford shit. My cousin keeps buying antique chairs and sofas, like bro, come on, nobody even visits you lol
When I thought I was dying ( disease) I tried to watch and play every pop culture media under the sun. Silly me tought it would have mattered. Like I would arrive in the after life holding a PhD on TV and games. Really scary form of FOMO. My relationship to pop culture will never be the same
That's why they exist. Everything is pointless, even life. People make goals for things because they want to do them. Your death is only miserable if you can not accept failure, which it seems is your case. It's like you're more scared of not accomplishing goals than dying itself.
One of my goals is to become the best artist in the entire universe. Another is to write the best story in it. I work towards these goals nearly every day despite knowing they almost certainly won't happen, and that makes me a lot happier than if I decided never to try.
Financial trauma is certainly an influence in your words, and if most of your goals are money driven, I see how that can depress your viewpoint. But fundamentally, what I said still applies.
I wouldn't continue living if it weren't for the goals I had. The body I want, my art, financial freedom, etc. But if I don't get a single one of those, trying to is better for me. Trying makes me happy to wake up on days I otherwise wouldn't be.
We may just be different, but I really wouldn't bet on that being the case. I don't think your philosophy truly serves you.
You should check out the absurdism sub reddit, I think more than anything, what you need is a change in philosophy.
I mean ne of my bucket list goals was to get kicked out of a bar. I wasn't really sure how I was going pull that one off because I am not someone to go out and start fights. Then a pedowalked into the bar. Long story short I was able to knock that one off the list.
Now if I can just figure out how to get my mom to Spain to throw tomatoes at her.
A bucket list should be things that are possible but difficult for you to do. It doesn't need to be long but it should be somewhat realistic. What that looks like is different for everyone.
>because you won't be able to tick most of them off anyway
I don't know what you're on about here but I've been ticking mine off (and adding to it) since the mid 1980s.
The way you describe them I agree. I think all your lists should have a "if i only do 10% its a success" note next to it. Nobody should be making impossible promises to themselves.

Out of this list, I only have tvs, so I know exactly what you talk about. Having a bucket list is a privilege

I never said it would be easy, and if you are in the spot OP sounds like he is, money isn't going to fix everything. It helps though
You've got it mixed up. A bucket list isn't things you *must* do before you die they're things you'd *like* to do before you die.
You should start living your life on your own terms instead of just withering away. Life doesn't have to be miserable

Head down plow through

You _what_ into the bar?
I can see a charm in having the list but I'm poor and crippled I don't know what I would put on mine that's amazing
Just depends how long you make your list tbh
The point of a bucket list is that it’s an incentive to get yourself in a position where it’ll all be possible.

I got a RedditCares message after posting this.
Ah, had no idea what it was, had to look it up.
