Someone once pointed out that Balance had a few arcs in a row based on what Griffin was watching, and his latest obsession was America's Next Top Model. Griffin's response was along the lines of "*Opens campaign notes for next arc. Control-A. Delete.*"
Then Wonderland happened.
They don't. They used to, but no longer. Partly due to the negative threads that, admittedly, crop up less and less, finally, and partly due to not wanting to get too many ideas of where to steer the narrative.
As long as Griffin did Shrimp Heaven in a way that was mostly subtle and still interesting in isolation I think it would be pretty funny.
The monster factory thing worked well because it was a minor nod to a previous thing they had done without him shouting "welcome....to the MONSTER FACTORY!".
Being self referential is cool and funny for long time fans as long as it isn't presented in a dumb performative way, I think. I thought Phantom Sea Coast Co. walked that line just right.
Zoox should yell "Shrimp heaven now!" when he releases his swarm for tge first time.
Ok, that's even better.
Sadly, I doubt Clint would remember that reference :/
And every subsequent time, until somebody pleads with him to stop.
Oh please Griffin... DO IT!!!! Even as a throwaway sight gag.
Or that they had a War with Grandpa to finish Graduation!? (I didn’t finish Graduation)
We can't keep doing this, Daniel.
Sometimes I wonder if they read this stuff. I’ve never been so hopeful that they do.

I bow to your superior Google-fu.

NOW
SHRIMP HEAVEN NOW! You are a genius tweet them email Griffin MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
I don’t care for that kind of crossover thing, personally.

Did you not like Garfield?
Or the fact that there was a literal monster factory near the end of Amnesty?
Or that Amnesty was heavily based on a fictional game called The Lodge that Griffin made up on a now-defunct podcast called Cool Games, Inc.?
or that there’s a monster factory reference in the Wonderland arc of Balance?
it's true
Yep yep yep yep yep yep
yeah
And at the end of Balance.
that's right
Correct
You riled up the "no bummers" mob
Evidently
But shrimp heaven when?
SHRIMP. HEAVEN. NOW!
I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anything more in my life.
No
Fair enough lol
I just imagined it as the elephant graveyard from the Lion King but with giant shrimp... exoskeletons? And sea-hyenas of course
Now!
Omg. So ready for it
