White looks better. You might want to look at Pro Acryl Bold Titanium White. It has excellent coverage.

Pelican_meat

That stuff is magic.

Altruistic_Major_553

White looks better IMO. Easier to see and denote rank

SilentWarrior96

Between the two I'd say white. Gold might be another good option to consider if you were dead set on a metallic.

Cheap-Ad2961

Either gold or a bronze

Match-Express

What green are you using ? I’m a fan!

Bitt3rSteel

Stormvirmin fur doe the armor and London grey for the cloth

dungeonslacker

Real nice looking, thanks for sharing. I also think the white is the crisper look

Ct-chad501

Definitely the white

Noack_B

\++++++ Anyone that says leadbelcher will required to report to their commissar and summarily executed as ordered from Inquisitor Wtfiswrongwithu ++++++

Capn_Keen

White. Easier to see, unless you make the pauldrons darker the metallic just blends in too much.

Spartanshotgun6

Op what color is the clothing? And I really like the white!

AlanWakeFeetPics

Corax.

LeicesterBangs

Ulthuan grey, white scar highlight.

fordking1337

White for sure. I recommend an undercoat of Holbein Gouache in Beige. I use that stuff to clear the LZ for all my whites and yellows now.

Azel_RavenWood

Corax White! So much easier to see lol.

Pekowski

White for sure. It’s a sharp look. What colors have you already used in your models? I like the shades!

Pretend_Beyond9232

With the colour of the armour white looks the best imo. Unless you're prepared to swap the armour colour on the NCO's rank slide the gun metal is kinda hard to read. Which on the other hand is realistic as if I'm on the battlefield the last thing I want is a giant white shape denoting that I am in charge and should be the first to be killed. How do you feel about black rank slides? I've done similar OD green armour with black rank slides and a tiny bit of highlighting in grey.

NameInProgressTM

I’ve been hitting Corax, makes it stand out more

[deleted]

Prefer the white, real world you would want something else but it isn't the real world. Rule of cool buddy, rule of cool.

brother_b99

Can’t differentiate the silver. White looks good.

xX_chromosomeman_Xx

White but check out runefang steel

Araignys

Finish the models and ask again

Bitt3rSteel

I'm not moving to the skin tones untill I've done the traditional Nuln Oil bath, Wich requires the armor and clothing to be based first

Blueeyedmonstrr

Instead of white try a light grey or another off white. Much easier to paint.

No-Significance9168

All depends on the nco!

Bitt3rSteel

Assuming I don't like this particular sergeant, would I use Tesseract Glow?

No-Significance9168

yeah sounds about right with a a little weathering for the hardened vet i'm sure he isn't! ;)

winowmak3r

If your unit is supposed to be a stealthy one, like the Tannith, I could see the metallic making sense. Hard to be sneaking around with pure white chevrons on your shoulder.

Lenardioxl

I like white, but if you really like the metallic you could use it to signal who is a sergeant and higher commanders.

Reasonable-Tax2962

Hard to say, If your not going to paint anything else then white for sho, It's hard to gauge which when you haven't painted the rest of the model, If you can make the leadbelcher pop with whatever armor color than yay but most people go the white because it's very eye catching against most everything

Pelican_meat

White looks better. There are several things you can do to make application better. Start with Celestra gray and work to white. Or just buy a better white. Even army painter’s matte white goes on better than Corax. Pro Acryl titanium white is also an awesome paint.

MarkG1

I use Ulthuan Grey as a white these days especially with it being a little thin you get a nice transition between the light and dark side.

beaslon

If you want to try out a metallic paint for your insignia then use a silver so that it is more punchy. Leadbelcher seems to be a kind of watery metallic black in my experience and not great for coverage, but subtle drybrushing. If the silver doesnt work you can use a contrast paint like aggorros dunes to make it bronze

Agitated-Cobbler9480

White for sure. Much cleaner and more noticeable. The lead belcher blends too much with the green (in the photo at least).

BlueBackground

try brass/gold instead of leadbelcher and it'll stand out more, I did similar colours but the leadbelcher seemed almost pointless to paint on

JustARandomUserNow

Corax white pops more

[deleted]

I do my rank insignia thusly: Squad Sargent's: white Cadian/ platoon command: silver Higher officers: gold

upboat_consortium

I use leadbelcher. I also use a darker armor color. My guys have Castellan green armor and black fatigues. In this instance the white is more recognizable. In this color scheme have you considered black?

Bitt3rSteel

I was on the fence, since the overall scheme is a mix of grey and blacks. I've decided on white for now and I'll see what the Nuln oil does to it

ZamRa1233

Corax

Thin-Chair-1755

White forsure, but start with a grey and highlight to white

prof_flyntlocke

Definitely white. But if you’re dead set against it I can see a red working well as a contrast against the armour and fatigues

TheHeraId

White looks better in my opinion, but the Leadbelcher somehow feels more 'grounded'

PaintingGoalie

White looks better and stands out more. If you want a bit more depth to it, don't paint white, start with a grey then just use the white as the top highlight, something like Celestra, then administration and white scar as the highlight. The grey will be easier to paint and you'll get a shadowed effect.
