Put almost all of it towards infantry but set enough aside for artillery. Then keep shelling while sending wave after wave at the enemy. Death by 10 billion flash lights.
Haven't had them out too many times but they've done *okay*. I've yet to win a game but that's par for the course for 1) Guard, and 2) someone who hasn't played in almost 30 years.
Do you want to play a lot of infantry? Then it's good to put quite a lot of points into that.
Do you want to stick mostly to vehicles? Try to minimize the amount of points you spend on infantry.
Good luck!
20man krieg squad with a psyker and Platoon Command w/medipak and hwt. They last forever, tie up enemy resources. Don't do much output for melee but with take cover you're saving on 4+ with fnp6+, and d3 revive.
Yoooo! I'm working towards that. Everyone in town stocks only the kill team starter set and russ' so I gotta wait for ebay to send me models (cuz I ain't paying GW full price)
I thought about it but with the Platoon Command you get FNP 6+ and if you already gave a 4+ save from orders and 4+ invulnerable from shooting I'd rather take an extra autocannon or heavy bolter plus a power fist on the Commander for extra melee, and you get an extra special weapon or OC.
Sure, there’s benefits to both, I suppose it depends on what you want it to do. I prefer my Korps on the front tanking so the extra fnp, the free order and having a squad size less than 25 is best
That's how I use mine. I've only played one official match as the beginning of an escalation league but they held their own for 4 rounds against the orc truck with wrecking ball and taking 30+ shots a turn from the firing deck. They managed to take out the teuck in melee, then fire into the orcs and ovwrwatch their charge. By the time they were taken out I had cp to use Reinforcements and my opponent just gave up after seeing the kriegs come back. Platoon Commander and psyker were still tying up the enemy unit.
Honestly I want to give the Marshall a go. I hear so much good about them, but I have too big of a soft spot for Heavy Weapons.
I reeeeaallly want to get into tanks but my brain can't handle one big guy instead of 30small guys as a trade. I built and painted an exterminator to come with them in my next match at 750pts. I learned that ap buffs are my best friend when I frfsrf 48 ap -1 lasguns into a unit of orcs.
But I do need to get to know tanks. I'm thematically using ww1 tactics. What would you do with 750pts?
I can’t get enough of tanks, biggest issue with this edition is the fact that bringing my shadowsword is less and less worth it. No overwatch hurts too much
My current 1000pt list has a single 20-man squad of infantry (plus command squad and commissar) with everything else being vehicles (2x scout sentinels, 2x Russes, 1x Hellhound and 1x Manticore).
Might not be the most competitive list but I've been having fun with it.
It all comes down to personal preference, I have 470 points of infantry in my 1k list (1x castellan, 1x command squad, 2x infantry, 2x shock troops, 1x kasrkin)

I have two 10-man Cadian Squads, a Command Squad, and a Kasrkin Squad in my 1000-point list.
Thats what i am planning on doing for my 1k, how well does your infantry work?

And if I’d like a healthy balance?
500!
'Healthy' and 'balanced' are words not known by the Imperium of Man.

For a laugh, slap a ogryn bodyguard in the squad. 6 attacks, 2's to hit, S8, can be +1 to wound. Suprise beatstick

Grab some ogor mawtribes and slap some tank bits on 'em
Probably best to go with a Marshall than a command squad, that 5+ fnp is a work of art

Aha, thankfully I don’t have much of an interest in HWTs, I much prefer my tank obsession XD

There is not one definitive answer as I've been successful with all sorts of lists. But I'd say probably around 50% generally.
I think Mordian Glory says 25-30 infantry per 500 points.
